Chapter 21
C21 – The Swordtooth Tiger Group!
“You’re saying that’s a Swordtooth Tiger?” Lee Tian inquired.
Green’s face nearly turned white as he looked at Lee Tian, urgently pleading, “Big brother, we need to get out of here fast! We don’t want to mess with a Swordtooth Tiger. Let’s clear out before its family comes looking for this little one and we get dragged into it!”
“What’s there to be scared of? It came in on its own, not like we lured it here! And if the tiger horde shows up, all the better. I’ll take them all down! I’ve never even tasted tiger meat before!” Lee Tian declared, then leapt from the large green boulder, ready to entice the little Swordtooth Tiger into his trap.
Green, lacking the nerve to stop him but too fearful to follow, scrambled up a tree to watch from a safe distance.
Lee Tian caught the little Swordtooth Tiger’s attention, clanging his two scythes together to produce an odd noise that piqued its curiosity.
The little Swordtooth Tiger, somewhat dazed, saw the oddly shaped Lee Tian and mistook him for a small creature it could play with. It opened its mouth wide and lunged at Lee Tian.
With a wicked grin, Lee Tian thought to himself that today would be the day he’d get to savor tiger meat. This was his first time hunting a Swordtooth Tiger!
Green had told him that among the Mortal Beasts, the Swordtooth Tiger was at the apex, a veritable king of this forest.
“It’s certainly formidable, but how does it taste?” he wondered aloud.
Given his size and weight, he was too heavy to cross the trap without setting it off. He had to detour to the other side and then coax the little Swordtooth Tiger into the trap.
Perhaps due to its cherished status within the Swordtooth Tiger tribe, it was incredibly naive. It ignored the peril and bolted straight for the trap, aiming to snatch the Big Black Ant sharpening its scythes on the other side.
Unbeknownst to the cub, it was running straight into the jaws of death.
Suddenly, a thunderous crash echoed as the earth beneath the young Swordtooth Tiger’s feet gave way!
Its small body plummeted with the collapsing ground, emitting a frantic cry that echoed its utter helplessness.
Alas, it stood no chance of survival.
Moments later, the sound of piercing rang out from the pit, followed by jets of blood signaling the end of the young Swordtooth Tiger’s life.
Lee Tian leapt into the pit without hesitation, landing squarely on the back of the tiger cub, its body skewered by sharp bamboo stakes. He then sank his teeth into its neck.
With his two newly grown fangs, he bit clean through half of the cub’s neck.
“Ding! Host, I’ve detected that you’ve slain a high-level tier 1 Swordtooth Tiger. Experience Points +15, Evolution Points +11!”
The system’s announcement echoed as Lee Tian wiped the blood from his mouth, musing over the inherent superiority of such a formidable beast—it had been ahead in the race of life from the very beginning.
Simultaneously, Green called out from the treetops, “Big brother, the tiger herd is coming! Run for it!”
“The tiger herd? They’re that quick?” Lee Tian scrambled out of the pit.
As he emerged, he was met by the sight of Swordtooth Tigers, as large as oxen with fearsome fangs dangling from their jaws, converging on the trap area—directly facing him.
The leader, a Swordtooth Tiger with a scarred face, eyed Lee Tian with a sudden wariness.
Upon spotting the tiger herd, Lee Tian didn’t hesitate—he bolted.
Sensing trouble, the lead Swordtooth Tiger dashed to the pit’s edge for a look—
His offspring!
Enraged, the scarred Swordtooth Tiger bellowed, “That Big Black Ant has killed my child. Seize it!”
At its command, the Swordtooth Tigers roared in unison, thundering after Lee Tian as he fled.
