Chapter 47
Chapter 47: Trust in Blake
‘Well at least it turns out that I wasn’t wrong when I say they were cowards...’ Blake thought to himself as he changed the runes that he was currently drawing into a new one.
Seeing that he was right that the monkeys were faster than he had expected, Blake couldn’t use the darkness binding spell or the marking spell as the monkeys could easily dodge them.
Instead, Blake drew the runes for the darkness bullet spell with both of his hands and aimed them toward one monkey each.
The darkness bullet was a condensed ball of darkness element and their speed was the fastest spell Blake had in his arsenal.
And with the runes being fairly simple, Blake completed them in under a second, summoning and launching the two darkness bullets straight toward two monkeys before they were able to run that far away.
Blake’s aim without the marking spell couldn’t be considered terrible, in fact, it was quite excellent.
However, he was still not ambidextrous and the accuracy between the darkness bullet shot from his right hand and his left hand differs.
.....
The one that was shot with his right hand met its target and damaged one of the monkey’s legs, while the one that was shot with his left hand barely missed the other monkey that he was aiming for and instead crashed against a tree trunk, creating a considerably deep hole into the tree trunk.
And the unfortunate monkey who had its thigh shot by the darkness bullet was forced to slow down its pace as the darkness bullet made quite a deep wound on its muscles, and each of its movements only brought more pain to itself.
Seeing one of the monkeys that had all unanimously chosen to flee at the first sign of danger had shown an opening to be attacked, both Blake and Robus quickly made their move.
Blake drew his marking spell while Robus lunged forward, ready to bring down his huge fists onto the monkey.
However, the two were suddenly taken aback as the other monkeys who were supposedly running away suddenly stopped in their tracks the moment they heard one of them release a cry of pain.
It wasn’t apparent at first what the rest of the group was trying to do, but after seeing their palms and forearms glow with demonic runes suddenly appearing on them, Blake knew that they were about to use their bloodline power.
Blake didn’t know what their bloodline power was, so as a safety measure, he turned his head towards the jumping Robus and shouted, “Use your armor!” While he activated the dark earth armor himself.
Robus might have a different way of thinking from Blake on several topics, especially the ones that were related to fighting.
However, when it comes to sudden commands such as this one, Robus didn’t question Blake and just did what Blake told him as the gorilla fully trusted Blake’s judgment.
Other than the strong feeling of trust that he felt with the connection that they had with each other, Blake had proved his judgment to be correct in many cases throughout their journey.
Blake had saved him from being bombarded with dozens of wind blades from the birds, venomous bites from camouflaging snakes, and many other instances where he would be put at a huge disadvantage if not for Blake’s sudden instructions.
So when Blake suddenly told him to activate his dark earth armor, even when he was still in mid-air, Robus quickly complied and activated the dark earth armor before his feet even touched the ground.
And Blake’s worry turned out to be justified this time as the monkey’s bloodline power soon showed itself.
The ground near the injured monkey soon rose as an earth spike the size of the monkey’s arm rose from the ground and stood erect.
And whether it was a coincidence or not, it was placed right around the location where Robus would land after his long jump.
However, the earth spike didn’t only appear in front of the injured monkey.
Near the other monkeys who were still a few meters away from the injured monkey, earth spikes began to appear one after the other. Six in total, two earth spikes near each of the three monkeys.
Blake wondered what the monkeys were trying to do, summoning earth spikes near them instead of targeting Robus like that one earth spike that appeared on the place where Robus was about to land on.
But Blake’s question was soon answered as he saw the monkey’s arms that were still glowing with the demonic runes hovering over the base of the earth spikes.
And he couldn’t process what had just happened in front of his eyes. He didn’t believe his eyes when he saw the first monkey do it, but after seeing the other two also do it, Blake now believes that it was probably the monkey’s ability.
What they did was they grabbed the earth spike from the bottom, but instead of breaking off the spike from the ground, the moment their glowing hands hovered over the base of the earth spike, that certain part suddenly looked to be as malleable as clay as the monkeys easily scooped the bottom part of the earth spikes from the ground and put it in their hands.
The earth spikes now looked like javelins fully made out of earth as they held the earth spikes in their hands before throwing them toward him and Robus.
And Blake didn’t know where those monkeys got their strength, but the speed they were throwing their javelins was not to be underestimated.
It wasn’t as fast as the wind blades, but it came close to reaching the speed of his darkness bullet, albeit slightly slower.
And Blake, who was caught off-guard by the monkey’s unpredictable ability and strength, was only able to dodge 2 out of the three earth spikes that were thrown at him.
On the other hand, Robus was less fortunate as he had just landed on the ground and there was no time for him to move even an inch before three earth spikes crashed straight onto his body.
But fortunately for both Robus and Blake, the two of them wore their dark earth armor. And it protected them from the actual damage of those earth spikes that were thrown at them.
Blake was slightly pushed back due to the force that was carried behind the earth spike that hit him, but other than a slight dent on his dark earth armor and a slight numb feeling on his body, Blake was completely unscathed.
And the same goes for Robus as even though three earth spikes had hit his huge body and the fact that he had just landed on another earth spike and couldn’t regain his balance properly yet, Robus’s huge body remained still, not even pushed an inch backward by the momentum that the earth spikes carried.
And despite being caught off guard by the three attacks, instead of being wary or rethinking his decision, Robus stared at the four monkeys in front of him with unwavering eyes as he released a reverberating roar.
“ROARR!!!”
