Chapter 219 - 219 Changed ? (2)
219 Changed ? (2)
“There, it would never bother you again now.”
Although Amy did not expect Blake to do what he did as her face was still surprised by it, nonetheless she said, “Thank you, brother,” with a smile on her face.
It was a small gesture, squashing a bug was normal. But seeing Blake stomped on the back without a shred of hesitation in his body, Amy felt that there was something different from him.
Although Blake had never said it, Amy knew that Blake avoided violence, even if it was towards something like a bug. He was a victim of it, why would he endorse it?
Blake detested violence because he saw it as the way the people around him forced their inflated ego and superiority onto him because other than violence, those people did not excel in anything else compared to him.
But now seeing Blake squash the bug without even thinking about it as if it was a very normal thing for him to do, Amy noticed that something had changed.
Amy wanted to ask what had happened, but ever since they started talking, she noticed that Blake had never answered the question about what he did in great detail. He just skimmed over the things that he did vaguely, such as traveling and training, before then asking her what she had been up to.
Ever since the lies that she felt Blake muttered back in the orphanage to the vague details that Blake gave when the two of them were talking, Amy was sure that Blake was hiding something. She was certain of it, but she didn’t know whether to press on to the matter or not since she also felt the genuine happiness that Blake felt when he thought about his life for the past month that he had been missing.
In the end, she decided to shelve her questions for now. It was a happy day for her knowing that her brother had come back to her safe and sound, and even happier than before. She could always ask Blake at later times about what really happened. Today was not the day.
.....
The two continued their chatting in the park. Amy avoided asking the questions and instead continued their previous conversations, which led to them continuing to chat nonstop until the sun had disappeared under the horizon.
“It’s already dark, should we head back, brother?”
“Umm… Can we walk around a little more? It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the city,” Blake stared at his familiar yet unfamiliar surroundings.
It was the same sight that he had seen for the past decades, buildings of all sizes, the street lights, even the dark sky of the night, he had seen them for years and everything seemed to have stayed the same. Nothing in particular had changed except for himself.
He had been spending his time for the past month moving around everywhere with a goal in mind. Different from the place where just walked around without any ambition other than just going with the flow without anything he wanted to achieve, the place where he pursued his own goals had become imprinted in his mind.
He had spent most of his time living in the forest, in a vast expanse of land that had nothing but grass and demons, and some time in a wooden home in the middle of a forest, with fighting and killing as his everyday activities that might as well had become his routine.
But ever since coming to the human world, Blake didn’t have the feeling of his adrenaline rushing and the constant cautiousness that he had on almost at all times when he was in the demon realm.
A peaceful and serene atmosphere descended on him as the night came, and he stared at the dark sky, lit up by the dim lighting that the moon gave off.
It was not only Blake that reminisced about the calming night sky, but Robus, who had never seen the sky turned dark before also stared at the sky with wonder as he had been observing the sun that was supposed to stay in the middle of the sky at all times slowly moving towards the horizon before disappearing completely, and replaced by a crescent-shaped sun that was barely shining enough.
Surprisingly for him, Robus found that the area around him stayed visible to him despite the sky darkening. Two bright, white colored flames were hovering under an unknown construct, keeping the place lit up with their bright light.
“Let’s go walk around the city then.” Amy shot up from her swing and led the way.
Amy should already be back at the orphanage as they were told to go back before sunset, but with her brother asking her, of course, she would not refuse. She also knew the caretakers of the orphanage valued her a lot, and she would not be receiving anything other than a little scolding if she went back one or two hours late.
The two then walked all over the neighborhood. Visiting the places that they often visited when they played together back then. Blake even got to visit his school, which did not exactly hold pleasant memories, but still memories in the end, and it still made him feel something towards the school when he saw it.
After visiting all the places that they usually walk around, the two then finally decided to go back to the orphanage.
Amy felt the day was one of the most memorable days of her life, seeing her brother come back and spending hours with him, even breaking the orphanage rule a little together with him made her happier as she had never done it before.
As they walked through the convenience store that the two of them visited together before Blake disappeared, Amy asked Blake a question,
“So brother, now that you live somewhere else, when will you visit me again? Will you come back every week? Or every month?”
Hearing Amy’s question, Blake almost froze in place as he summoned all of his willpower to make his feet keep moving as if he didn’t just hear a question that would hurt his heart to answer.
He knew that he couldn’t just say, ‘I’m actually a demon now, and I will be going back to the realm where I belong. I don’t know when I will come back again.’
Other than the fact that he didn’t want to reveal the fact that he had been turned into a demon, Blake didn’t have the heart to tell her that he didn’t know for sure how he would get back to the human world again.
He knew it was possible since Vera had told him about a way. And he would definitely come back to save Amy from the war with the demons that would sooner or later catch up to his world from the gate, but he didn’t know how long it would take for him to do it.
He would try his best to be as fast as possible as he did not want to be too late to save her, but him disappearing again for ten years was a possibility before he found a way to get back to the human world and found a way where Amy could survive and live comfortably in the demon realm.
Blake was about to give her another made-up answer, the best that his mind could muster, but he suddenly stopped as a couple of familiar figures entered his eyes.
