Chapter 218 - 218 Changed ? (1)
218 Changed ? (1)
“Yes, I love it there more than anywhere else.”
After those words came out of Blake’s mouth, Amy stood silent while she kept staring into Blake’s eyes. She stayed in that position for about 3 whole seconds before her lips curled up into a smile. A smile that felt so genuine that even Blake could somehow feel the happiness that the little girl felt just from seeing it.
Blake wanted to ask what made her suddenly feel so happy, but before he could mutter the words, Amy already pointed her finger at a nearby ice cream store and started dragging him. “Brother, I want to eat ice cream!”
“Eh? Sure. Let’s go.” Blake, of course, followed her lead.
“Uhmm… Amy, I didn’t bring any money with me…”
“Don’t worry, brother. I have a lot for two ice creams for you and me!”
“Thank you…” Blake smiled bitterly as he was dragged along with her. ‘I should cook her a lot of tasty meals when I bring her there…’ Blake thought to himself as he kept himself from sharing one of his prepared meals. It might taste delicious for him and Vera, but the meat that he got was from demonic beasts.
Although an instance of someone eating a demonic beast’s meat had not happened yet, Blake didn’t want Amy to be the first one trying it out since it might actually hurt her. Just being placed within a nether dense environment could weaken a human, what would happen if they were directly fed nether instead? Blake sure had no plans in testing it out on her.
After getting their ice creams, the two then continued their walk, stopping by at a nearby park to eat the ice cream and continued their talk. Even though Blake had only been gone for about more than a month, the two didn’t run out of things to talk to as Amy shared her story about her school, the friends that she had there, and the things that she did while he was gone.
.....
Like checking on the window where he knew Blake usually spent his time. Which was also the reason why she checked Blake’s room. She saw the usually closed window was opened and thought that her brother might have come back.
It had been quite hard for her in the past month, even when she checked on Blake’s room to see if he was really back, she didn’t have much hope of finding Blake, thinking that it might be her wishful thinking that the window that Blake usually use was opened by him instead of being randomly opened by someone else or by the wind.
The rush of emotions and feelings she felt when she saw Blake inside his room was too much for her to handle and it even took some time for her disbelief to crumble for her to finally cry in Blake’s chest.
Just as much as Blake felt Amy helped him through his tough times, Amy also felt the same. The same as Blake found Amy to be the only one who accepted him for who he was, Amy felt that Blake was the only one that really cared for her without caring about anything other than her personality.
No matter how good she was at her studies or how great her talent in using mana was, Blake did not care about those things. He just acted as if she was an ordinary little girl that needed friends to play with and needed someone to protect her.
With him suddenly disappearing, Amy lost one of her anchors to stay afloat in her daily life. The fake world that she thought was bearable became much more overwhelming as she lost the support and protection that she kept holding onto.
She didn’t know how she could express how happy she was when she saw Blake coming back. Even hearing and knowing how happy Blake was back in his new home, Amy still felt happy knowing that Blake was out there.
Even though it saddens her to know that his brother would not be with her all the time again, knowing how genuinely happy he felt in his new place and thought that the two of them could still meet from time to time if he wanted to visit her, it was more than enough for Amy.
“EEEEKH! Brother, help!”
The two of them were just sitting leisurely at the park’s swing before Amy suddenly screamed while jumping out from her swing and moving beside Blake’s.
Blake was caught off-guard by her sudden scream that he had almost cast a spell out of habit. If there was danger back in the demon realm, the only thing to do was to erase that danger quickly if he didn’t want to be bothered by it.
But remembering where he was right now, Blake quickly snapped out of his instinctual behavior and observed his surroundings instead. Blake didn’t see anything, not even a person as the sun was already halfway into the horizon, the kids that usually played at the park had been called by their parents to go back home.
“What happened, Amy?” Blake asked as he failed to find anything that might have caused her to scream.
“There!” Amy pointed her finger straight to the ground near her swing.
Blake’s eyes followed her finger and soon found a caterpillar minding its own business, slowly crawling its way through the park.
“You never fail to give me a heart attack when it comes to these things,” Blake sighed as he walked over to the caterpillar.
Amy kept her scared expression plastered on her face, but deep down, she was giggling in her heart. She did find the insects disgusting and she would avoid interacting with them at all costs, and she might have really screamed if she saw one. But that would only be the case if she was 7 or 8 years younger.
The current her could definitely handle insects. She just loved to see her brother helping her out, carefully moving the caterpillar away and telling her that she was okay now.
However, Amy was caught by surprise when she saw what Blake did.
After walking up and going to the caterpillar, instead of taking a stick and moving the caterpillar out of the way, Blake raised his foot and stomped on the caterpillar, instantly turning it into a mush.
“There, it would never bother you again now,” Blake said as he walked over and patted Amy’s head.
