Chapter 164: Leona Lionheart! 2
"Huff! Huff!" Leona was sitting on top of the corpse of the mythical lion.
The Lion had its internal organs spilling and blood drowning the large desert they were in, that looked more like a wasteland.
Even the place where she fought was different.
A second later, the lion disappeared, and Leona, with all of her fatigue, regained her balance, looking right in front of her.
The desert is turning back to its golden luster.
[Wave 901st Starting!] The tower announced as its voice vibrated through the room.
"Fu-" Leona was once again going to curse before she stopped herself. Draco's teaching was still catching on.
"I... surrender." Looking at the army of mythical lions, Leona had no choice but to stop there.
She was in no shape to do so.
The desert returned to the white resting room of the tower.
Leona, without an announcement, felt something important within her expanding and getting stronger.
Using her senses to feel her inner world, she managed to see the source of Origin Law, which looked like a burning flame surrounded by a fortress. A golden star of sorts with a sword's symbol was surrounding it.
"Is this the source of this power-up?" She thought.
"But it doesn't make sense." She thought.
Indeed, it wasn't just the star; being able to reach the 901st wave allowed Leona to be rewarded with a powerb equaling that.
"Well, who cares? I will rest for a while and move up." She said as she went into deep slumber.
After waking up a couple days later, she went directly for the second tribulation.
"The tribulation of defense, huh?" she asked herself.
Reappearing in an expanse of sorts, Leona found herself floating.
[Wave 1 of 1000 can start anytime.] The tower announced once again.
"Hehe, I'm itching for a fight. Begin!" She ordered.
And directly in front of her, a man appeared.
Once he saw her, he took a stance, with strange symbols appearing in front of his arms.
"What's this power again?" Leona thought as she tried to rapidly blink towards the man and finish him up.
"What?" She exclaimed, not able to move a single step in front of her.
[The first wave of the tribulation of defense starts now. Please use every defense technique you have and survive for 1 minute.]
"Tsk, this sucks." Leona cursed as she looked at the man rapidly flying toward her, the symbols still floating in front of his palms.
She tried moving her arms and legs and she found no problem.
"As long as I don't move out of my position, I can parry, block, and even directly kill?" She thought, then looked at the man, who was at an attacking distance and smiled maniacally.
"Let's try."
The man, once he was close enough, brought up his arms and tried to slam his palm on the belly of Leona. But...
"Ugh!" the man grunted as he felt himself falling into the void.
"Ah, so counterattacking counts as defense?" Leona looked at her bloody arm and at a speed faster than light, she waved it, clearing it from all impurities.
"Good to know." She said and proceeded to speed through the tribulation.
She couldn't use offensive skills, but defensive skills that could counterattack by themselves were fine, so most of the time she managed to kill every attacker before the time ended.
[The 900th wave starts now. Please survive for 900 minutes.]
This time, the 900th wave had a man with golden eyes wearing a dark robe, he reminded her of Fate but he looked more evil.
Throughout the fight, he used all kinds of weird blood martial arts that forced Leona to use most of her skills, but in the end, not even 10 hours later, she managed to kill him.
"Huff, huff, that was hard; if this continues, I don't know if I can hold on till the last wave." Still not giving up on her plan of reaching the last wave, Leona's gaze was on the enemies that would spawn any second now.
The promised army appeared, and it was far more than Leona expected, The lioness grunted and quinted her eyes, getting fully serious.
"I will not go down." She announced as the army launched themselves at her.
This round took her 11 hours to finish, the next one more, and the one after even more. This continued until she was forced to survive the whole time.
[Congratulations, You've survived for 964 minutes. The next wave will start soon.] The tower announced, but Leona, who was in no shape to continue after forcing herself to fight 30 more rounds than her limit, surrendered.
Once again, she returned to the white room, and after the power boost and the second star with a shield that she gained, she slumbered for a week or so and got up, fully energized to take on the third tribulation.
The third tribulation was the tribulation of healing.
This time, Leona wasn't supposed to fight at all. The first wave had one wounded fella who was on the verge of death. Leona, seeing this, just approached him.
[Unbroken Reguvenation!]
A single spell! A single spell was all it took for the man to return to peak condition, even his armor returned to its intact condition.
The man bowed down and disappeared. The tower moved on to the second wave, and this time there were more people.
This continued until the 100th wave, where the injured had it worse, he was inflicted with not a physical wound but a soul, a soul that was poisoned.
[Unbroken Reguvenation] Once again, the same spell worked wonders, fixing the man into shape.
The next waves all had injured warriors and tribulation overlords with poisoned souls, however, the poison was different and more effective each time, but, it was nothing Leona's spell couldn't heal.
Time after time after time, Leona used the spell until she reached the 300th wave, and that's when things changed.
