Chapter 16: Warden

Chapter 16: Warden

Today is the day to end all this.. As I decided to kill the warden and end this all at once. I had trained myself enough for all the challenges he could pose.. I think.. maybe.

As I slowly started heading toward his office, my heart started beating loudly, not in fear but in excitement—the excitement of finally getting rid of all the pests from this prison so I could finally start the foundation. The foundation of my holy ground..

In the process of that, I can also get my revenge for all the things he has done to me—I mean, he hasn't done anything, but I'm pretty sure he is somehow linked to that man, and how do I know that? I simply don't know, but at this point, even a child can guess this much— and today he will get his reward for all my suffering.

As I began to reach my destination, the number of guards guarding the place began increasing, as if they were protecting him from some kind of monster...

That's exactly what they were trying to achieve, at least.

''Hehe, as if they even have an ounce of a chance of succeeding, not in my watch," I laughed out loud, attracting the attention of the guards.

One of them noticed me instantly and voiced his command.

"Look, there he is... Fire at my order with all you might." He orders them to hold, as he wants to negotiate; if not... at least stop him until reinforcements come.

"Call for reinforcement," another one said as if he knew that the monster in front of him couldn't be controlled by all the men here combined.

"This is Team 4V reporting in. The monster is currently at our location. We are positioned at the western gate behind Section E. Requesting backup and immediate support, I repeat, on the western gate...

Before he could even finish the call, a metal arrow penetrated his throat and killed him on the spot.

At the sight of this, the commander threw out the idea of peaceful negotiation and gave the order to.. fire.

I didn't even notice who sounded the command, but as soon as the order of fire rang in their brains, they started firing.

I was already prepared for this and instantly cast my metal shield, which I had been preparing, since the moment they noticed me.

I can practically feel the force from the impacting bullet on the shield, but my strength isn't just for numbers, and I can easily withstand this much repulsion with ease; any more and I have to retreat.

Simultaneously keeping the shield and firing the metal arrow is more burdensome than I had thought, but I somehow manage to achieve that.

As their magazines finally depleted, I unleashed my metal arrows with full determination, and the enemy began falling rapidly. It's not that they lacked protective measures; it was totally the opposite, and they wore a vest and a helmet. However, those didn't help much, as the penetrating power of these arrows is no joke; they can effortlessly pierce through a standard helmet and vest.

Yes, they can pierce the normal helmet but not the bulletproof ones; that's why I mostly aim for the neck and eyes, as I don't want to risk it.

But you would think, How is my aim this accurate? Even I don't know... I mean, I have some speculation, but the most likely scenario would be that the more I increase my agility stat, the more my movement-related actions become... yes, precise.

"Fall back and retreat; only charge when you have reloaded your guns," comes the command. After noticing the one-sided slaughter.

But I'm not going to give them any more time, as reinforcement is about to come. So I left aside the magic attack, picked up my trusty spear, and rushed in their direction.

"The enemy is engaged in melee combat; I will keep him busy, you all reload and shoot when you get the chance. Am I clear?"

"You are not going to get that much time, to begin with," I said, interpreting his dying speech.

With my dash nearing him, I thrust my spear with all my might, and then... There was no then; as his body became a mess and he dropped dead.

"Y.. you, monste..r, what have.... we done... to you?" a guard yelled at me

"That's exactly my point; you haven't done anything; you haven't done your duty; you haven't maintained the order; you haven't done anything you were supposed to do," I yelled back.

Before he could even realize what I was talking about, he dropped dead with a massive hole in his chest.

"You are going to suffer for all this," another one said.

"And who is going to make me, YOU? Your warden? Your government... Don't tell me you believe God is going to punish me!"

"Ye... Yes, god will punish... you for.. all... your sin," he shuddered

Picking up his collar, I yelled in his face, "Why do you think God will bother to punish me for my sins? When he didn't even bother to do anything to him, who has caused all this to me? Then why do you think he will protect you? ... what makes you so special?"

He began to ponder my question, but I didn't have time, so I mercilessly crushed his neck, sending him to god... giving him the chance to ask all the questions he likes.

But in the end, I wasted some time, and the guards started scattering, causing me so much trouble.

It caused me some pain, but in the end, I sent them all into the embrace of God. If he even is... real.

When all the reinforcements arrived at the scene, I was already moving deeper into the den of the warden.

I started to wonder, What should I do after... but before I could even finish my thought, a bullet hit straight in my head but couldn't do any damage.

"Motherfuckers, didn't even let me think!" I yelled. But on second thought, I laughed, "Hahaha, who am I kidding, when I myself am the same?"

I began a habit of laughing in the middle of battle—all for this shitty healing. I am crushing the skill, but it is pretty powerful if you know how to use it. I have to admit it, but I am beginning to like it.

Hahahahahaha!" I laughed.

At the sound of my laugh, all the guards found their hair standing on end.

"Is this fucker out of his mind? Why is he laughing?" One of them voiced his opinion.

But I didn't like it, and did the thing every normal person would do; I dashed and obliterated his head.

"Now, who is 'out' of his mind?" I said, controlling my laughter.

"Come on, no one gets it... Out of his mind—out of his mind—" I tried to explain the joke, but still no one got it, so I let it go and began my slaughter.

At this point, they don't possess even a tiny bit of chance to kill me with all my stats and abilities. Not until they started launching nukes.. Of course.

"fuck! Did I just jinx it?"

With all of them dead, I began my journey, checking all the rooms for any survivors.

Several minutes passed, but I didn't find a single soul, so I started getting carefree. After a minute or two, I came across the same one of those normal-looking doors, but when I opened this one, what I saw inside made my eye-widened in shock.

There were literally at least a hundred, if not two hundred, men in armed positions in front of the gate, holding their assault rifles, ready to shoot any ignorant men who happened to come inside without their permission... And I happened to be one of those ignorant fools.

Our eyes met... I can feel the hatred radiating from their eyes.

"Sorry, boys, I'm just looking for a bathroom. I beg your pardon... You guys can continue what you were doing."

I slowly closed the door and was about to run when I heard someone say the word...

"FIRE"
