Chapter 82 Putting on a Play
"Let's do this, since we're all colleagues here, why don't you resign voluntarily?" Zhang Mingyu sighed, looking genuinely regretful, then turned to Pang San and instructed, "You, get two people to take Deputy Director Cao to the hospital. By the looks of it, his injuries aren't light."
"Okay, I'll go now."
Pang San responded and called two people to help lift Cao Kun, preparing to take him to the hospital.
Cao Kun also cooperatively moaned and groaned, appearing to be in great pain, and really looked as if he wouldn't last much longer in this world.
"Hold on."
Just as they reached the door, a faint voice sounded.
"Do you have something else to say?"
Zhang Mingyu, serious and unsmiling, looked at Su Chen and asked, not knowing what he intended to do.
"How can he leave when things aren't clear yet? He's the direct party involved, isn't he?"
Su Chen tilted his head and smiled inscrutably.
"Didn't you see how badly Deputy Director Cao is injured? Are you responsible if any delay leads to irreversible consequences?"
Pang San scolded righteously, aware that Cao Kun's injuries were not that serious, but if they took too long and exposed any flaws, it would be bad.
And if they got him to the hospital now, whether the injuries were severe or not, wouldn't it depend entirely on their own say-so?
"Don't worry, he won't die."
Su Chen's fingers tapped lightly on the tabletop, looking very serene.
The others were astonished to see him act so nonchalant; with things having come to this point, how could he be so utterly unperturbed?
"Ow, it hurts so badly, I can hardly take it anymore."
At that moment, Cao Kun's exaggerated cries of pain conveniently rang out. Cao Kun himself was somewhat uneasy, afraid that more things could go wrong as time passed.
"What are you standing there for, let's go." Pang San urged the other two carrying Cao Kun with him, saying, "Don't you see how much pain the Deputy Director is in?"
Just when the two were about to step forward, Su Chen's indifferent voice came through once again.
"Pang San, I'll say it again, if you dare to take one step out that door, then you really will be carried out."
Su Chen's voice wasn't loud, but it struck Pang San's heart like a hammer. Pang San turned around to see Su Chen staring at him with a smile.
Yes, a smile; although it wasn't obvious, Pang San distinctly felt it.
His smile was eerie, indescribably disconcerting, and indeed, Pang San didn't dare move another step.
"Useless!" Zhang Mingyu, seeing him actually stopped by a word from Su Chen, berated, "Just go, I don't believe he dares to do anything!"
Heartened by Zhang Mingyu's words, Pang San's confidence returned. Zhang Mingyu was no Cao Kun, who was only good for flattering superiors and was otherwise useless.
Pang San knew that Zhang Mingyu was a retired member from a Huaxia ace special forces unit!
With him there, what was there for Pang San to worry about?
With this thought, Pang San's body shook, and he said to the other two:
"Let's go, don't listen to this kid's nonsense!"
The other two had no choice but to go ahead with heavy hearts. Pang San was at the back, lifting. Seeing the other two step out while Su Chen still stood in place, he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"This kid is just trying to scare people. To think I was actually intimidated by him, how embarrassing."
Pang San secretly thought as he lifted his foot, ready to walk out, when suddenly he noticed a figure flashing before his very eyes.
Then he felt someone grab his collar and toss him backward, and the next thing he knew, he was flying through the air...
His body traced a perfect parabola in the air before crashing heavily onto the office desk, scattering documents, teacups, and the like all over the floor.
And Cao Kun, having suddenly one less person to balance him, toppled over onto the door threshold with a painful cry — this time for real!
Everyone else was startled by this sudden turn of events. Su Chen always seemed so amiable but who would've thought he could be so violent once he started fighting!
First, he had kicked Cao Kun flying, and now it was Pang San's turn!
Unlike the others, a serious expression surfaced in Zhang Mingyu's eyes.
He had been paying special attention to Su Chen's movements a moment ago but was too late to stop him when he realized Su Chen had made his move.
Because in that instant, his speed was simply too fast!
So fast that Zhang Mingyu saw only a blur whizzing past him!
"I was right in my judgment after all; this Su Chen is definitely not an ordinary person!"
Zhang Mingyu's eyes flickered, and he solemnly resolved that this man must not be allowed to stay; he had to be driven out!
After landing on the office desk, Pang Fei tried to get up, but just as he propped up his body a little, he felt a surging in his abdomen and then a sweet taste in his throat as a mouthful of fresh blood sprayed out.
Su Chen's blow had been much heavier than that kick he had delivered to Cao Kun. Since these people could no longer restrain themselves, he might as well resolve the issue completely today.
Su Chen had become much more tolerant than before. Although he had long known of their hostility towards him, he had been too lazy to bother with them as long as they didn't overstep.
But now that they had lost patience and struck, they should be prepared to face the consequences.
Even though Su Chen's body was temporarily devoid of True Yuan, dealing with these insects was still effortless for him.
Even Zhang Mingyu, who once served as a member of some elite special forces, was no different from a lamb to the slaughter in Su Chen's eyes.
After all, when it came to hand-to-hand combat, there was no one in this world who could be confident of beating him.
After throwing Pang San out, Su Chen didn't bother with him anymore. With casual steps, he walked over to Cao Kun, dragged him back into the room from the door threshold, and kicked the door shut.
"Let go, let me go!" Panicked, Cao Kun struggled as Su Chen dragged him, "What in the world do you want?"
"Of course, I just want to have a nice chat with you," Su Chen let go of Cao Kun, stood up, and kicked him, "Get up, stop faking death!"
"Who's faking death?" As soon as Cao Kun heard Su Chen's words, he immediately raised his head and protested, "You kicked me so hard I can't stand up."
"Ow, it hurts like hell!"
While saying this, he even clutched his stomach and howled in pain.
"Alright then, since you say I've beaten you to the point where you can't stand up, I might as well truly cripple you," Su Chen said.
Su Chen lifted one foot over Cao Kun's knee, as if about to stomp down.
Cao Kun didn't expect this guy to be so devious as to actually do it, and frightened, he quickly rolled to the side and leapt to his feet.
"Oh, so now you can stand up again!" Su Chen said with a cocked head and in a mocking tone, "Deputy Director Cao, your injury sure has healed quickly!"
The others couldn't help but snicker quietly; this act was failing!
Cao Kun's face instantly turned beet red, as if a monkey's backside, embarrassed and wishing he could find a hole to crawl into.
