Chapter 81 Turning Black into White
Su Chen turned his face with a jesting look at the blushing Cao Kun, his mouth curving slightly upwards, filled with mockery.
Cao Kun was deeply provoked by Su Chen's expression, his head heated in the moment, and he picked up an iron rod from the corner of the desk and smashed it down towards Su Chen.
The iron rod had just been left there by another driver who had not yet had time to put it away after fixing a car, and when everyone saw Cao Kun take the iron rod and smash it down, they were all startled and exclaimed in shock.
Just as everyone thought Su Chen would be smashed to the point of a bloody head, they suddenly saw a figure fly up, directly "bang" into the wall, and then fell onto the ground.
Upon closer inspection, they realized that the one who had flown out was not Su Chen, but Cao Kun, who held the iron rod; the rod itself traced a beautiful arc as it clattered to the ground.
"Section Chief Cao!"
Pang San shrieked, quickly rushing over.
"Section Chief Cao, how are you?"
Pang San lifted Cao Kun's head to rest on his shoulder and asked anxiously.
"I'm not..." Cao Kun was about to say he was fine when his eyes suddenly twinkled, pretending to whimper weakly, "I can't take it, I'm going to die."
Continue your adventure with empire
While speaking, he subtly pinched Pang San, who was a bit puzzled, looking at Cao Kun with a face full of confusion. When he saw Cao Kun slyly wink at him, he immediately understood Cao Kun's intention.
"Su Chen, you dare to attack in public! I'm going to fire you!"
Pang San's face was filled with righteous indignation, his tone impassioned as if Su Chen had truly committed some heinous, universally condemned act.
"He was the one who attacked first!"
Meng Shan, formerly a soldier, was very straightforward and immediately countered when he saw Pang San so dishonestly turning the blame around.
"What did you say?"
Pang San hummed coldly, and although Meng Shan was not his subordinate, as a low-level employee, Pang San naturally did not show a good face to Meng Shan, who was singing a different tune.
Meng Shan was about to say something more but was pulled by Liu Yuan, the honest man beside him.
"Don't act rashly, these two are doing it on purpose."
Although Liu Yuan was honest, he was older and had experienced more, and had long seen through their trickery.
Su Chen watched their performance with a cold smile, clear about just how much force he had put into his kick just now.
It would be somewhat uncomfortable, certainly, but definitely not as painful as Cao Kun was pretending to be, to the extent that he couldn't stand up.
"Hmph!"
Meng Shan grunted and said nothing. Liu Yuan usually looked out for him, so he could take Liu Yuan's words to heart.
"I heard noises from outside, what's all this ruckus during work hours!"
Just at that moment, Zhang Mingyu entered with a stern face. When he saw Cao Kun on the ground, his face immediately changed.
"Who can tell me what happened here?"
Zhang Mingyu hummed, also with a cold face, but the oppressive presence he brought with him was not something that Pang San and Cao Kun, these two buffoons, could compete with.
What perfect timing!
Su Chen sneered inwardly, watching Zhang Mingyu's seemingly angered appearance, thinking, Act, just keep acting!
He didn't believe for a second that Zhang Mingyu was unaware of the day's events, which might even have been orchestrated by him.
Su Chen had long seen that Zhang Mingyu was not a man of good nature, his usual facade was just very convincing, making people fear rather than dislike him, and some even admired him.
"Pang San, what exactly happened? Explain everything to me in detail, and don't you dare hide anything!"
"Yes, Minister." Pang San had wanted to squeeze out a couple of tears to appear pitiful, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't muster any, so he had to give up. Then, with a face full of tragic sorrow, he began to recount, "Minister, this morning, Su Chen was almost two hours late, so Deputy Minister Cao came over to ask for the reason. But Su Chen completely ignored him, which angered Minister Cao, and he asked him to stand up. Still getting no response, the Deputy Minister tried to scare him with an iron rod, but who would have thought Su Chen would kick Minister Cao away with one foot, sending him crashing into the wall."
"That's nonsense!" Meng Shan, bursting with righteous indignation, shook off Liu Yuan who was holding him back.
"Where did I say nonsense? Isn't it true that Deputy Minister Cao got hurt by that bastard Su Chen?"
Pang San put down Cao Kun and jumped up, shouting as if he had suffered a great injustice.
Two sharp glints burst from Zhang Mingyu's eyes, and he gave Meng Shan a quick, almost imperceptible glance.
Sadly, Meng Shan was very straightforward and didn't notice Zhang Mingyu's look at all. Pointing at Pang San, he said:
"Indeed, that part is true, but was Cao Kun using the iron rod just to scare someone? He was clearly trying to hit someone. So many people here, so many eyes, they all saw it clearly."
"What do you all say, is it as Meng Shan said?"
Zhang Mingyu asked the people around him in a dispassionate tone.
"We were all busy just now and didn't notice."
"Indeed, the incident happened so quickly, we really did not pay attention."
Everyone else more or less said the same thing, excusing themselves from involvement.
Many among them had noticed Zhang Mingyu's glance and instantly became cautious. To avoid bringing disaster upon themselves, they all chose to protect their own interests.
Of course, Su Chen usually got along well with everyone, and they also didn't want to blatantly lie.
"Aren't there surveillance cameras? Just review the footage and everything will be clear."
Meng Shan, as straightforward as ever, voiced what many were thinking.
Upon hearing Meng Shan's words, both Cao Kun and Pang San stiffened, and immediately a cold sweat broke out.
"Don't I know about the surveillance cameras?" Zhang Mingyu said irritably, "The maintenance department just informed me that several cameras near the office are broken. I came here to find out what was really going on, but to my surprise, I walked into an incident involving assault!"
"A brawl in the security department, this has never happened before here, and it must be dealt with seriously!"
Zhang Mingyu had, without anyone realizing, already set the tone of the incident. He didn't emphasize the reason, but focused on the fact that someone was assaulted.
Even if they were naive, everyone understood Zhang Mingyu's stance and felt relieved that they had chosen to protect themselves just moments before.
As for them, of course keeping their jobs was most important. As for justice and fairness, those had long been thrown to the dogs.
At this point, everyone looked at Su Chen with sympathy. To their surprise, Su Chen didn't show any emotional fluctuation, and even had a faint smile playing on his lips.
"Su Chen, how do you suggest we handle this situation?"
Zhang Mingyu looked at Su Chen, his face showing a troubled expression.
"How does Minister Zhang wish to deal with it?"
Su Chen smiled faintly, as if the issue were none of his business.
"You see, regarding the cause of the incident, everyone has their own version, and I can't tell who's telling the truth," Zhang Mingyu sighed, "But the fact you assaulted someone is undeniable, right?"
"Indeed, I did hit him, and I won't deny that," Su Chen replied calmly, tilting his head.
He was curious to see exactly what Zhang Mingyu was up to...
