Chapter 134 Karma Point, Reaching Tier 5
"Extraction..."
Ding!
[You have extracted a "Karma Point".]
"Oh?"
Alex did not expect to get one of those so soon, but it was expected when killing an angel.
[Global Announcement: Player "FateBreaker" is the first to acquire a Karma Point, they may be used later.]
"Karma point?"
"What the hell is that!"
"FateBreaker take me in as your apprentice...!"
Meanwhile, Alex stared at the notification, a neutral expression in his eyes.
A new category had appeared between [Skill Points] and [Prestige Points]: it was [Karma Points.]
[Karma Points: 1]
Right now, they had no real use, but later they would.
Ding!
[You have completed your Tier 5 Advancement Task with an... SSS-Rating, that angel stood no chance!]
[You have truly grown into an astounding being, FateBreaker.]
[+5000 to every stat.]
[All your titles are already maxed out.]
[In exchange, you may receive a "Talent Perk Fruit" (Artifact)]
"Oh?!"
[Talent Perk Fruits] are just like [Talent Evolution Fruits] except these instead granted a new perk to a talent.
And best of all, these fruits actually allowed you to choose the talent effect you wanted to enhance!
But before doing that, Alex quickly moved to the experience notifications that appeared since now that he completed his task, he could finally possibly reach level 300.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Chapter Stay:
[Your level has increased to level 251... 252... 253!]
[Level: 253 (38,834,821/60,000,000)]
Three levels at this point were a very nice increase, especially for a single enemy.
Angels aren't affected by the [Double Experience Zone] buff, by the way.
He was now getting closer and closer to level 300, which is when his first task as Arceus' student would end.
And now that he was done with all of his, he simply needed to use the [Talent Perk Fruit].
Maybe there were side effects though, so he decided to teleport to Alice's location, then back to the [Light Plains] using his [World Map].
A new section had appeared, displaying [Double Experience Zone - Angel City].
And so he was able to teleport to each area of that zone.
Of course, the further he went, the higher his chances of meeting a powerful angel, but as long as it was between the first two, he should be good.
He specifically didn't want to meet one of those twisted angels with [Soul Attacks] either.
"So you actually won..." Alice gasped, watching the body of the angel Alex had killed.
NPCs don't disappear like monsters as each one of them is unique, meaning that someone would discover him at some point, and signal all the others.
"Rise," he called, his undead coming back from the dead again after getting destroyed by that angel.
At this point, Alex's undead couldn't even put a dent on any enemy they met, they were practically useless.
Of course, they helped when enemies were stunned and to gain a few precious seconds, but Alex would truly need to get them to become stronger.
"Couldn't agree me," Undead King appeared above the boy, sneering, "It's time to upgrade our troops' skills."
"How?" Alex raised his eyebrows, confused.
Other than by waiting for them to complete their advancement task, which was still to kill 50,000 monsters, there was no other way.
He was much closer to completing it than before, but it still had some way to go.
[Undead King - Level 450]
"I cannot do it currently, for I have not attained even half of my original strength, but maybe HE can..."
"He...?"
"The Undead Lord."
"Huh."
Last time he went to [Undead Land], he met face to face with the [Undead Lord], who allowed him to leave.
To Alex, all these monsters, including Alphox and the Undead King, were evil.
They were with him right now, one agreeing him to be his pet since it's interesting, and the others bound by a contract.
But he couldn't forget about his past life, there was no way to.
And if he truly thought about it, even though the Undead Lord had been taken over by Lich, the all-powerful necromancer, he was still evil.
"How can he help us, I don't think a level 400 or 500 can truly help us..."
"Hahaha," the Undead King laughed, "Kid, do you truly believe [Undead Land] was a tier-4 area since the beginning?!"
"..."
"At first, this land was considered a tier 8 area, even the strongest of adventurers not daring to come close, and I was the king of it all!"
"Alright..."
Alex didn't understand how any of this could help.
"Well, we can just go back and kick the Undead Lord's ass to retake it, you know?" Alex continued.
Last time, Undead Lord was at level 400, and even if he somehow got stronger, Alex still firmly believed he could take a level 500 monster like him.
The Undead King shook his head, his spectral form flickering slightly as he gazed down at Alex with a mixture of disdain and amusement.
"Kid, you have no idea what you're dealing with," he began, his voice reverberating with an ominous echo. "The thing you met in [Undead Land] was not the true Undead Lord."
Alex frowned, crossing his arms. "What are you talking about? He was right there. I saw him."
"What you saw was a projection, a mere fragment of his power. The true Undead Lord doesn't show his true appearance often after all."
Alex's frown deepened. "And you're saying this 'real' Undead Lord is stronger?"
"Stronger?" The Undead King let out a booming laugh that echoed through the plains. "Human, how do you think that my land was taken over? Did you really think some level 400 giant skeleton could do that?"
Alex's confidence wavered for a moment, but he quickly masked it with a defiant smirk.
"If he's that powerful, how do you expect me to beat him? Just run in and hope for the best?"
The Undead King's gaze hardened. "Do not misunderstand me. I am not sending you to your death. I believe you already know the way to deal with any undead."
"..." Alex thought for a second, his eyes widening, "The Annihilation Crucifix..."
"Yes, now do what you need to do to find it."
With that, the Undead King snapped his fingers and disappeared in a dark mist, leaving Alex behind.
But there was one single tiny little problem with that information...
Alex had lied. He didn't know where the [Annihilation Crucifix] was.
Well, actually he DID know, but not really: he knew that it was either in [Angel City], the [Divine Colosseum], or the [Cursed Cathedral], though the true location was unknown.
Only one person had acquired it in his past life, and the only hint they gave was: "Somewhere divine and cursed at the same time."
What could be more divine and cursed than the three choices he listed?
Either way, getting it would be almost impossible right now.
But in the end, Alex simply grabbed the [Talent Perk Fruit] in his hand, looking at Alice.
"I'll probably need you if there's any side effects," he mumbled.
"Ready any day of the week," Alice smirked, eager to help.
Alex looked at the fruit in his hand, then without hesitation began eating it, ready to see what he could get from this.
