Assassin Dad and His Genius Daughter

Chapter 6 Kill

30 Minutes Later,

"Why is A'Meng taking so long? It only takes 10 minutes from downtown to come here!" The tan-skinned man spoke up after finishing a cigarette and stomping on the remains, "He really is useless!"

Boss Hui didn't speak as he squatted on the ground, rubbing his face with his hands and his mouth dry. He was getting extremely thirsty and his patience is being drained out. He felt something was amiss while waiting for A'Meng to return.

"Boss Hui, why don't we go find him and give him a beating? I hope he isn't dallying around with some girls on the street?" One of his men suggested with a disgruntled sneer, "Also Ren Ye is taking way too long...we have to think about what to do about with his mother."

"Leave him be! We need to gather our teammates first," Boss Hui scoffed with irritation, "I'll be staying here and keeping his mother here with A'Liang, you guys go find him!

He had been dehydrated all day and had only smoked cigarettes due to him having to wait for Ren Ye to collect his payments all day. He couldn't wait to beat him up to a pulp once he sees him.

Boss Hui stayed behind with a bulky man with a haughty feel about him, the man had a distinctive scar cut on his jawline. He was the largest mate in his gang; therefore, it was natural for Boss Hui would keep him by his side for protection.

Boss Hui felt a sense of danger, sensing there was something dark or dangerous might have happened to A'Meng, or else it wouldn't take him this long to return.

There were two reasons in Boss Hui's head; A'Meng was playing around with girls, which Boss Hui believed was stupid and impossible.

Knowing A'Meng, he wouldn't let his boss anticipate his arrival in fury and go around playing and forgetting about his water.

Second, A'Meng was caught up in a fight by a rivaling gang in town or was being bullied, which Boss Hui assumed was the most appropriate reason he was late.

He thought for quite some time before sending his men there in large quantities. In case of a rivalry fight between other opposing gangs, one of them will be able to flee the scene and return to inform him.

This way he would have the upper hand and call for reinforcements!

**

"Why does Boss Hui seem to favor that brat so much?" The short and average-built, tan-skinned man, remarked with visible discontent, that he couldn't understand why Boss Hui would send a majority of them to protect one guy.

"Haha! I remember a rumor saying Boss Hui used to love his mother in the past," One of them commented with ridicule, "Unfortunately, she died and left behind A'Meng."

"You could say he was taken under his wings since a very young age," He said resentfully, "That woman must have had something that our scheming boss loved so much that he decided to throw away his dignity to protect him."

They walked gradually, stopping by a dark alley and standing in front of the place.

"Isn't this the path we took before? A'Meng doesn't travel much around the town, he must've taken this path," They said with a bit of oddity, "We got to trace his footsteps to find him…"

The alley in front of them was desolate and shrouded in darkness, making it impossible for one to walk through it without being nervous and feeling as though they were in a horror movie. Rats and insects were seen crawling all over the place, the alley was brightened up by the moonlight.

"This looks way too scary at night, it isn't like this during the daytime," One of them shivered with goosebumps.

"Are you stupid? It isn't scary during the daytime because there's light!"

"Shut up! Let's go in!" The short and average-built, tan-skinned man, yelled at them with anger and took the first step forward. All of them followed behind him afterward, casually glancing around their surroundings.

The rats didn't run away after seeing them, they decided to chew on their food while staring at them with their pointed black eyes. Cockroaches roamed the ground in search of food.

"Yuck! Nasty!" One of them remarked in disgust as though he wasn't used to seeing bugs and rats.

"Quiet!" The short and average-built, the tan-skinned man slapped him on the head and subconsciously whispered.

As they walked forward, trying to get to the other side, they felt the alley kept getting longer and longer.

Suddenly, one of them cried out and unexpectedly kneeled himself on the ground, his hand clenching his chest in pain and agony. His hand was stained with blood as it gushed uncontrollably out of his chest, he had an inconspicuous bullet hole on his back.

The others were caught by surprise and were immediately alerted. They decided to check on the man lying on the ground, not noticing what had taken place and why the man had stumbled down all of a sudden.

"You! What happened just now?" They remarked with shock and nervousness.

The injured man struggled to speak as blood gushed out from his mouth and flowed onto his neck, his breathing becoming increasingly slow and faint. The hand clenching his chest loosened slightly as his eyes lost their luster.

Unbeknownst to them, a lean figure was hovering above them and avoidant of the moonlight; the figure was integrated into the darkness of the alley and was undetected by the others.

The figure was clad in a black hooded cloak and a clown mask, his hands donned black gloves and one of them held a handgun. It was none other than Ren Ye!

The injured man's energy was drained out from the excessive bleeding, his head fell to the side, and noticed the figure in the dark. His eyes shrank and wanted to shout but what came out was more blood, he wanted to lift his finger to point at it.

Ren Ye, with the agility and responsive instinct of an assassin, noticed that his attention was on him. Behind the clown mask, he grinned cruelly and pulled the black hood over his mask, completely merging with the dark.

The others held him and tried to lift the injured man, the injured man became unresponsive and his eyes shrank with fear; fear of his approaching death.

Ren Ye lifted his gun and aimed toward the head of one of them, pulled the trigger, and shot out a bullet. His keen observation and targeting made it impossible for him to miss the target, striking them soundlessly and mercilessly.

Another one fell onto the ground with a thud, his eyes lost their light and he died swiftly. There was a hole on the back of his head, covered by his hair which made it impossible for the others to figure out where the shot was unless it started to bleed excessively.

"Sh*t!" They cursed in unison.

'I must say the aim and distance of this gun are extremely impressive,' Ren Ye couldn't help but remark inwardly with an impressed tone.

'Combined with my expertise and experiences with weaponry, it makes targeting and killing a lot more easy and deadly despite it being a small gun.'

Old Yi wasn't residing inside his head at the moment, Ren Ye had ordered him to guard Jia'er before the operation took place. Ren Ye didn't want to leave behind his daughter in some strange place without a guardian by her side.

He was free to think whatever he wants without a nagging old man intruding inside his head at any time.

'Old Yi had some faith in me with handling this mission after all…' Ren Ye thought self-deprecatingly.

'I still have 3 bullets left and two men were standing left. I need to save some for the final boss and his sidekick…'

Ren Ye deliberated for a quick second and immediately decide to take things into his own hands.

The two of them decided to make a run for it, they lifted both of their legs and dashed forward. Ren Ye had a much quicker response, he sped up to their directions and pulled the trigger toward one of them.

Instead of aiming for the head which was quite difficult to target whilst both of them were running, he aimed it at one of the vital spots; the area around his heart.

The gun made no sound as the bullet went off and struck the fleeing man's chest, causing him to fall to his feet and the tan-skinned man didn't even look back to help his friend from falling to the ground.

It wasn't a fight or flight situation; it was a flight situation!

Ren Ye felt unsatiable satisfaction from watching them run away like cowards. He made a large jump to the front, blocking the tan-skinned man's escape.

Before the man could cry and yell for help, Ren Ye lifted his empty hand and struck the neck of the man in an accurate angle with all of the strength and speed his body could exert, cracking his neck.

Instantly killing him in one blow!

Ren Ye had knocked four men down in one fight, he had two bullets left reserved for later!

He was unmoved and indifferent to the bodies lying on the ground, he had specifically aimed for spots that will knock them out instantly. He felt mixed emotions at this moment, reminiscing his emotions in the past.

'I couldn't escape killing even in this life…'

[Ding! Congratulations on completing your mission!]

[System has a special message for you!]

'What's up?' A hoarse voice resonated inside Ren Ye's head.

"…"

Ren Ye remembered Old Yi was near the park the last time he saw him; how could he possibly talk inside his head at this moment? Ren Ye didn't know whether to cry or laugh.

'I know what you're thinking,' Old Yi coughed ineptly and started imitating his tone, 'How is it possible for me to appear inside your head again while I'm keeping your daughter guarded at the park?'

'The thing is I have recovered some of my power after the completion of this mission,' Old Yi chortled with joy, 'I can now transfer messages to my employer whilst I'm away but only within the limits of the same city.'

Ren Ye's features twitched slightly.

'You unlocked a new power,' Old Yi remarked with a smiling tone, 'It's pretty useful to use right now.'

'The system can operate on its own without you?' Ren Ye couldn't but ask in a stunned tone, noticing the messages and blue texts without Old Yi's presence inside him.

'Yes, for now,' Old Yi said meaningfully, 'As long as I'm in your city and alive, it can operate on its own. This way, it allows me to be up to date on your whereabouts and wellbeing.'

'This system is unique in a way, Old Yi can locate me at any time,' Ren Ye's eyes lowered slightly, 'The powerup and recovery of Old Yi could be regarded as me unlocking stages in games.'

Although the original Ren Ye had read system novels in the past, the system he had was completely different from the ones he had read about, making him unknowledgable to certain things.

[Reward: Shapeshifting]

[Details: Shapeshifting allows user to shift into anyone user wants.]

[Limitation: 1]

'Limitation…it must mean I can only shift into one person,' Ren Ye grasped the conception of this new ability and he had a few questions he wanted to ask Old Yi.

'Old Yi, does the ability naturally disappear after one use?' Ren Ye asked as his eyes became increasingly unfathomable.

'No, you have to unlock it first. Its limitation number is the current level of your ability,' Old Yi informed him, 'Each ability has a max level of 10, yours currently at 1…'

'The more leveling up you do, the higher your ability gets. These limitations may turn into unlimited…'

[Bonus: Energy Activation Pill]

'This…' Ren Ye wasn't completely unaware of this thing, to be precise, he understood what the pill means.

The original Ren Ye used to be an avid fan of cultivation novels; the current Ren Ye was able to figure out the usage of the pill the moment he saw it.
