Chapter 30
The next day was also the next exploration. This time, facing the second gate, I went to the right. I was looking around for anything out of the ordinary in architecture. Unfortunately, there was nothing that caught my eye. It was very disappointing to me. I was hoping to find something, especially now when I already saw the written language of the natives. I also had an idea of how their art could look like because I saw the relief.
The almost absolute lack of art, the simplicity of this city, the randomness of buildings and street layout - it all made me think. What if the city was never populated? What if it was never finished? What if something happened, and the project got abandoned? What if we were supposed to continue it? Were we rats in somebody's laboratory? For me, at that point, all the answers lied on that strange island.
I was wondering if I should share this secret with others. Part of me wanted to because that was the right thing to do, but then I kept asking myself what those people did for me? They were watching as a bunch of thugs were beating me almost to death. They knew Nacho is bulling me, but nobody didn't do anything. That was it. There were no more ideas of sharing anything.
Now when I'm looking back at it, my mind really got clouded by hatred.
I roamed for half a day when I finally discovered it. The third gate. There was nothing special about it. It was completely plain, just like the first one. No new clues. But there was something important about it. It was probably closer to the rats nest.
Then I went back, ate, and went to sleep. Nex day I did the same trip to the opposite side of the city. I roamed for hours and hours without finding anything. I didn't give up easily though. Wandering alongside the city walls didn't bring any discoveries, and when it started to become dark, I headed back.
After diner, I went to sleep, and the next day came. After that another, and another. They were passing by slowly for me because there was nothing much to do. I tried to explore something more but without any success. Besides that, I did some cleaning. Removed all the rubble and some dirt from the inside. Gathered some firewood from nearby ruins, and even made a bonfire. Well, except the fire part.
I decided to live in this place from now on. It was further from the device than my old hideout, but at the same time, was closer to the third gate. My secret hunting grounds.
I also made some plans for a grand hunt. I wanted to get stronger so I would never get beaten up again. Some part of me also wanted revenge. So yeah, that's it. That's how an entire week had passed.
The week ended with still 1259 points on my account.
