Chapter 33
C33 – Reviving from Death
The miniature ferocious beast’s eyes snapped open. It swiveled its gaze a few times before locking onto Jiang Que.
Struggling to its feet, the creature seemed intent on approaching Jiang Que but hesitated, likely recalling the lethal kick it had received from him just moments earlier.
After a brief pause, it emitted an eerie sound.
Jiang Que, alerted by the noise, opened his eyes and turned towards its origin.
He was somewhat taken aback.
The billions of viewers in the live broadcast were equally stunned, their eyes wide with shock.
Why had another miniature ferocious beast appeared right after the first one was kicked to death?
Something was amiss!
Jiang Que’s gaze shifted to the corner of the room, where only a pool of blood remained.
He pondered, “Could this be the same miniature ferocious beast from before?”
He was certain he had killed it with his kick.
He hadn’t developed a leg-based cultivation method, but that kick was infused with considerable Spirit Power.
Given his current level of strength, a frail miniature ferocious beast stood no chance against him.
Moreover, he had seen with his own eyes the creature’s body contorted and lifeless.
Could it have come back to life?
“Did this ferocious beast actually come back to life?”
“It truly did. I’ve pulled up the footage and data of this miniature ferocious beast. It died within two seconds of Jiang Que’s kick.”
“Moreover, its bones were shattered in several places.”
“But just twenty seconds earlier, its bones miraculously mended, and its vitality was restored as if it had been reborn.”
“What an enigmatic miniature ferocious beast. Despite hatching thousands of years ago, it possesses only the strength of a Level 1 ferocious beast. Yet, it has the horrifying ability to absorb others’ energy for its own use, including the power to resurrect.”
“That’s impossible! Among all other races, there’s the Undead Clan. But members of the Undead Clan aren’t truly immortal. They can regenerate from their blood. Once reduced to ashes, they’re still subject to complete death.”
“Even so, the Undead Clan is deemed a race blessed by the cosmic laws. Why then does this ferocious beast also possess the power to rise from the dead?”
“Is there a biologist in the live broadcast who can shed some light on this?”
“I’m a biologist, but this defies explanation. Right now, I’d give a hundred years of my life just to have it appear in my lab, to study it for a single day.”
“The Undead Clan can resurrect through a drop of blood because they concentrate all their energy into it. Their racial gift is a potent self-healing ability, which is why they can be reborn from blood.”
“Yet, each time they are reborn, they must expend energy. They cannot regenerate indefinitely.”
“However, the scan data shows that this miniature ferocious beast hasn’t used any energy at all. It’s even more enigmatic than the Undead Clan.”
The live broadcast audience was completely astounded.
This miniature ferocious beast had utterly overturned human understanding of ferocious beasts.
The biologists, in particular, were thrilled.
They would pay any price to study this miniature ferocious beast because it defies the law of conservation of energy. It’s even more miraculous than the Undead Clan, who are favored by cosmic laws.
Inside the cabin, when the miniature ferocious beast noticed Jiang Que looking at it, it promptly lay down.
Its chubby body began to quiver.
It appeared to mimic the trembling of lower-level ferocious beasts and wild animals in the presence of a formidable power.
It seemed to be signaling its submission to Jiang Que.
After trembling for over ten seconds, it must have felt that was sufficient to convey its intent.
It leaped up and moved closer to Jiang Que.
Climbing onto the wooden bed, it lay next to Jiang Que and began to draw Spirit Power from his Qi Sea.
“Quite audacious!” Jiang Que snatched up the miniature ferocious beast and tossed it aside.
Simultaneously, a Thorn Fruit materialized in his hand.
A whooshing sound followed.
The Thorn Fruit swiftly overtook the miniature ferocious beast. Its sharp end penetrated the beast’s body, pinning it directly to the wooden wall.
The miniature ferocious beast died instantly.
Jiang Que rose to inspect it.
After ensuring the miniature ferocious beast was thoroughly dead, he didn’t remove the Thorn Fruit, nor did he resume his cultivation practice.
Instead, he stood at a distance, silently observing.
A peerless beauty openly declared her love for Jiang Que, yet he remained unmoved. He certainly wouldn’t show mercy to a mere pet. Without hesitation, he killed it. And when it came back to life, he killed it again!
“Jiang Que must be testing to see if the miniature ferocious beast can revive once more,” someone speculated.
“Quiet down. I’m trying to figure out if it can keep coming back to life,” another chimed in.
“The Scanner’s images show it took precisely ten minutes to revive last time. Will it manage to come back again? And if so, how long will it take?”
The live stream audience was brimming with curiosity.
Their gaze wasn’t fixed on Jiang Que this time; instead, they were all transfixed on the miniature ferocious beast that was pinned lifeless to the wooden wall.
As time ticked by, ten minutes later, the creature’s body quivered ever so slightly.
Then, it opened its tiny eyes, a look of agony flickering within.
But within seconds, its head drooped once more, the Thorn Fruit still embedded in its chest.
”It can actually revive? Now that’s intriguing!” Jiang Que’s interest was piqued.
He removed the Thorn Fruit, watched the miniature ferocious beast drop to the ground, and waited for its next revival.
Though not particularly powerful, the beast’s ability to resurrect repeatedly was remarkable.
Jiang Que intended to tame it. In time, as his own strength grew and he delved into life’s mysteries, it would undoubtedly become an invaluable subject for study.
“It’s come back to life again!”
“It has resurrected twice consecutively. Could it possess the bloodline of the Undead Clan?”
“Yet its powers seem even greater than the demons of the Undead Clan.”
“It revives every ten minutes without any loss of energy. Even the demons of the Undead Clan would envy such a skill!”
“Jiang Que appears to have taken an interest in it. I doubt he’ll kill it a third time. He might keep it as a pet.”
“That’s just like Jiang Que. Disinterested in beauties, yet captivated by ferocious beasts. He’s indifferent to the advances of a peerless beauty, but shows a keen interest in a ferocious beast.”
“It’s the beast’s ability to resurrect twice that has caught Jiang Que’s eye. If Pann Qiu could do the same, he’d surely take an interest in her.”
“However, I believe Jiang Que intends to use this miniature ferocious beast as a subject for his research.”
“There’s no question that Jiang Que is capturing this miniature ferocious beast to unravel the secrets of resurrection.”
“If he actually manages to do it, I can’t even begin to fathom the implications. It’s possible that the Human Race could gain the ability to come back to life just like the Undead Clan!”
The live broadcast audience was in awe.
They were aware that Jiang Que’s current level of power was nowhere near sufficient to develop such a cultivation method.
Moreover, even though Jiang Que’s strength was continuously improving, he was bound to hit a ceiling eventually.
But the mere thought that Jiang Que had even the slimmest chance of devising this kind of cultivation method was enough to fill them with anticipation.
