Chapter 82- Friends
Chapter 82- Friends
Kyle sat inside the room and waited for Alatia to return. He would have gone to find her but stopped himself knowing he wouldn't be much of a help to go there at this hour. Possibly, she would be in the gymnasium, having spar against her fellow classmates. That's why he decided to meet her during lunch break.
He was troubled about the sudden visit of Clara but he decided to think about it later. After all, during all this drama with Alatia's family, he nearly forgot that he was in the world of a novel, and there were arcs that were about to happen really soon.
The second arc—The Imposter—would begin around this time.
The introduction to the danger would begin with an archdemon, no less. Those high inhumane who ascend their limits and attain rationality are called Archdemons. They are higher in rank in comparison to other demons and lower than their lords, called Devils.
Archdemons possess enough soul power to enter the human world without showing their true colors and change their appearance if they have the skills to. Archdemons are dangerous and can control other demons according to their will. And one of those Archdemons was about to attack the school in secrecy.
The target of the archdemon was the pink-haired girl who goes by the name Sasha.
Sasha has a gift of purifying the Dark Water—a substance that enhances the demons and works as a fuel for them.
Sasha's divine component is her hands, with which she could purify the demonic blood and grant them a peaceful farewell.
The rumors about her ability spread once she entered the academy, and surely, the archdemon came to slaughter their nemesis under everyone's nose.
'In possibly three days...' The landmark of that event was the battle between Alatia and Logan which happened a week before the arc.
That's why Kyle knows when he could expect the appearance of the inhumane.
Under normal circumstances, the Archdemon wouldn't be able to penetrate the school's defense easily. However, there was someone who would support the demon from the inside.
And that person is—
******
"Rowell Markton, walk inside the arena." Hearing his name the blond noble sneered and haughtily made his way to the arena.
His eyes narrowed at Logan, who just finished his match, but unfortunately, Rowell didn't get the chance to humiliate that commoner who insulted Rowell during the entrance ceremony.
'Well, if not that commoner..then this would work fine as well...' Rowell grinned upon looking at his opponent, who was a brown-haired girl.
There were rumors that the girl was very strong and invincible but she hadn't fought Rowell before. His skills are made to fight against someone stronger. And given the girl couldn't go all out in a spar, Rowell knew how he would be able to win this.
'Finally, my day to shine!' Rowell inwardly rejoiced since today, the royal highness was present in the arena and was looking at the match with focus.
'Is she finally noticing my charm?' The cold and uncaring Princess was actually watching the match. That made Rowell even more eager to give her a spectacle and impress Alatia.
"Participants, ready?" The match referee asked as he raised his hand.
Rowell nodded and so did the girl whose name Rowell remembered to be Charlie...Charlotte or something.
Getting the consent, the referee slashed his hand, and declared, "Begin!"
"Take this!" The declaration was followed by a loud yell from Rowell as he planted his hands on the ground, and suddenly, a globe of mud surrounded the brown-haired woman—getting her stuck at the same spot.
Rowell was fast on his feet. His calves tensed as he sprinted in her direction, and a few meters before her, he jumped into the air and lunged at the girl with his wooden sword raised above his head.
The blond noble could see his victory only inches away from him. Once he lands the sword on the girl's head and she blacks out, he will win the match and the heart of the Princess.
However,
*CRACK*
Seeing the blade breaking into thin strands upon hitting the girl's head, Rowell's eyes widened. The blade, which was supposed to injure the girl into oblivion, didn't leave a single scratch, and Charlotte remained smiling at Rowell.
"Instructor, can I hit him now?" Suddenly the girl turned her attention towards the instructor before she asked him.
Rowell panicked and wanted to make some distance from this psycho girl when suddenly, the mud pod broke and her dainty arm dug out to grab Rowell's throat with brute force.
"Khak! Let go, you damn woman!!"
Rowell struggled against her hold but despite his scratching and punching, she didn't budge and waited for the referee to give the signal.
The instructor was beyond perplexed about what he should do here. The reason why Charlotte allowed herself to get trapped and hit by Rowell was because she was instructed to hold back and not make the first move.
But now, "Y-Yes, you can."
Charlotte's smile disappeared as she looked at the flailing fish in her hand, and slowly, the mud cage began to shatter into pieces.
Rowell's face became pale, seeing the effortlessness the girl showed, signifying she was never in the tough spot to begin with.
With her left hand still holding the boy, Charlotte brought her right hand near his forehead with her index finger tightly pressed against her thumb.
"It was nice meeting you, classmate."
Rowell panicked to hear that, but before he could have conjured another spell, he blacked out.
**BOOOOOOOM**
Under everyone's astonished gaze, Charlotte just flicked the guy on the forehead, and his body shot away from the arena and traveled in a straight line until Rowell didn't hit the gym wall and got framed into it.
Charlotte rubbed her palms together before turning towards the instructor, whose mouth was hanging low and eyes were parted wide. The look of shock was shared by the students and Alatia was no exception to it. Although her reaction wasn't as exaggerated, the way her eyes were stretched shows that she never expected the new student to be so stupidly strong.
Charlotte liked that reaction.
*************
Around lunch, when everyone was walking out of the classroom to grab something to eat, Alatia also got up so she could freshen her mood by returning to the dorm and meeting her lover.
However, just as she got up and began walking her deskmate called out for her, "Alatia, mind if I join you for lunch? You see, I have no friends as of now except for you."
Alatia frowned but never halted her feet and asked the girl, "When did I agree to be friends with you?"
"Just when you agreed to sit with me?" She innocently replied.
Alatia was slightly astounded at how positive this girl could be to think that. And in the first place, despite being a commoner, why was she not showing any reservation with her? Although Alatia doesn't like to flaunt her status generally, it helps often in keeping people away from her.
'You need to make friends to have a party, Ala.' Suddenly, Kyle's words came to his mind, and Alatia wondered if this was what he meant.
Glancing at Charlotte, Alatia wondered whether she could make a friend other than Kyle.
But seeing that creepy smile on the creepy girl, she inwardly shook her head.
'Not possible.'
Silently, they began to walk and soon exited the classroom.
"My lady." Suddenly, Alatia heard a voice that was too familiar to get mistaken. A smile threatened to bloom on her face when she turned towards the source of the voice and found her favorite person standing there.
For some reason, the girl beside Alatia suddenly froze upon seeing Kyle, which didn't go unnoticed by Alatia
She turned to look at Kyle to see if he had a similar reaction...but no. He didn't show any familiarity to the girl.
However, looking at Charlotte there was something she was sure about.
She knew Kyle.
