Chapter 81- Solution
Chapter 81- Solution
"I heard from Alatia that you were sick...so I came to check on you." Sitting inside the living room of the place where Clara shouldn't be, the two individuals exchanged words.
Although Kyle didn't want to meet Clara behind Alatia's back—especially in this place—he wasn't so impolite to send her back right away either.
He poured some water for the lady and replied without much thought, "I was a little exhausted, not sick. Anyways, thanks for worrying about me." He extended the glass in her direction which Clara instantly took and sipped on the water slowly.
Kyle sat down on the chair across from her and waited for the lady to say if she had something to discuss.
Normally, anyone would feel awkward in this kind of situation. However, Clara came here to see Kyle, who had been absent from the academy for the past few days. And when he arrived the news of his sickness made her worried.
She was glancing at his profile secretly while Kyle stared at his hands in a daze.
His angular face extruded a manly charm even though he was so young. He wasn't pale and possessed a slight tea-shade which elevated his charm when aligned with his silvery mane. He looked nothing less than a Prince out of a fantasy book.
"Professor, please speak your mind if you have something to say." Kyle ushered, clearly not unaware of her shy glance.
Clara slowly put down the glass on the table before asking, "The way you are calling me, should I consider that you don't want to let me get close to you?"
Kyle heaved a sigh. He knew this was coming. He had caused this and now he had no right to back away and pretend he never did anything to gain such attention from her.
Looking at the lady in the eyes, he was momentarily startled to see those heavy droplets raining down her eyes while the lady kept her eyes fixated on him, unblinking all this time as she anticipated him to leave the moment she tore her eyes off him.
Kyle wanted to wipe her tears but he held himself back and asked her, "Can you please stop crying? I feel guilty to see you like this."
"No...please don't mind me....it's just my stupid emotional self that never listens to me." She suddenly got up, intending to just walk away, when suddenly she found her wrist being held.
Clara lifted her eyes and turned to look at Kyle with an expectant gaze.
The tension rose in the air as Kyle discerned what a mess he had caused. He could have let her go, and this matter might have been sorted out right now. But he had to be so considerate towards anyone whom he saw crying.
"Okay, let's sit and talk...Clara."
Clara helplessly smiled hearing her name from him—which sounded sweeter than ever—as she listened to his request and sat back down.
Kyle brought his chair near her so he didn't need to speak out loud before asking, "You do know I will never cheat on Alatia right? Then why are you still trying so hard to pursue me? You are young, beautiful and talented, Clara. Then why are you stuck up with someone as average as me?"
"Because this average person has made me realise the feeling which I was unaware of. Because this average person helped me realise that this world isn't only about greed and malice. Because this average person taught me how to be selfless and look at the brighter side of everything."
Clara spoke instantly after he presented the query, almost like she was babbling a response, she had memorized.
Kyle was stunned. He never anticipated that he had made such a massive impression on the lady to the point she seemed like she was worshipping him. The vivid emotions of admiration and love in her eyes made it obvious how she felt about him.
Kyle was quite bewildered and helpless. He leaned back in his chair and rested his hands on his knees.
This was complicated.
Clara pressed forward, "You are worried about Alatia right?"
Kyle frowned, clearly not sure what she was referring to here. However, before he could ask what she meant, suddenly Clara got up and left the place.
Kyle also got up and wanted to follow her but she was like a gale—disappeared in an instant.
'Why do I have a bad feeling about this?'
*************
In the indoor gymnasium, the practical lessons were taken through sparring.
It was not a rare occurrence for the students to spar like this, after all, they were all trying to become warriors who would fight the underworld residents.
Those few students who awakened their angelic traits were gathered around to fight against their sparring partners who got selected through the lottery system.
Only a single spar happens once at a time, and since there are thirty students it doesn't take much time. The reason why the students are made to watch others is to assess their possible opponent in the academy tournament, which happens near the first-semester end.
Alatia had a battle with someone who goes by the name Edwin or something. However, before her, there was a battle between Logan and the student who was the tallest in the class and who had given himself the title of 'Iron Wall'.
Alatia remained standing in indifference, which didn't go unnoticed by Logan. He wondered if there was something that excites the Princess.
Regardless, he walked into the arena and stood across the boy who definitely looked old enough to be someone's father, but here he was fighting as a student.
"My bad luck is that I had to fight against a loser." Logan didn't show any reaction to his opponent's taunt as he readied himself.
He wasn't unaware of the fact that his name was being rumoured as the delusional fool who got manhandled by the Princess.
He wasn't offended as much as he was before hearing a good scolding from Sasha. She made him realise what he could do to become better than before and antagonising Alatia was not in the plan.
While keeping his head cool, Logan wore his rubber knuckles which were allowed in the battle. The opponent was also wielding a hammer made of hard rubber—which wouldn't kill but surely hurt.
"Students ready?" The instructor asked as he stood near the middle with his left hand raised.
Logan remained standing at his spot while assuming a fighting stance while the other one grinned and nodded towards the referee.
With the consent of the two, the instructor declared,
"Begin!"
"Oryaaaaaa!!" The Iron Wall marched forward on his massive feet, hammer raised high, determined to finish this match in style and impress the Princess with his prowess.
But in a blink, Logan vanished from his spot. In the next moment, the giant student froze, eyes rolling back, mouth agape in silent agony.
Logan stood there, his left hand buried deep in his opponent's stomach, a cold, lethal gleam in his eyes.
*Dhak*
The Great Iron Wall fell to his knees, and in just three seconds, the match came to an end.
