First league mission
First league mission
It needs to be remembered that in normal cases abilities were something one was born with or acquired via a true legendries interference. Something along the lines of Kyogre or Groudon for example. It was also possible for REALLY powerful minor legendries like an Entei to do so as well to a minor degree but as stated they had to be stupidly powerful in order to so Vulcan was entirely out as an easy option. Other than that abilities were with someone from birth and thus it could easily be understood that they would heavily impact the persons personality.-
I refused to comment on my perceived weirdness and focused on healing the Hariyamas feet since that was the part with the most severe damage. I ran out of aura but was satisfied with the amount of time I shaved off it's recovery time. "It'll need some more treatment but it should be good as new in about two weeks , three if it tries to train while still injured." I said to Brawly sternly. I was well aware of how quickly a fighting type might go stir crazy and wanted to make it clear that this was not negotiable.-
"Recovery is an important part of training after all. Besides a little trick about fighting types is that it's not just battle that satisfies them but any challenge , for example board games." Brawly said with a grin. "Huh? Thanks for the tip , it may come in handy in the future if I ever get a fighting type on my team." I said gratefully. "It's fine dude , you are doing us a favor by healing him so the least I can do is give some advice for the future that might help if you're lucky."-
"I also got your badge right here as well as a tm for focus energy since I figured you'd prefer it over the cash reward." Brawly said as he rifled around in his fanny pack for a moment before taking out the items. "You guessed correctly." I said taking the items and depositing them in my satchel with my other tms and badge. "So where will your wave take you next?" Brawly asked cheerfully as he balled the Hariyama again. "I'll probably head towards Mauville next and train until my team is ready for the challenge with Watson and if I have left over time after that maybe even see about finding me a decent water type finally." I said honestly.-
Brawly looked confused "Wouldn't it be better to try and find a water type before you did your training?" He asked not understanding why I chose that particular order of operation. "Not in this case since as you may have noticed my team is rather special in that all of them are variants or legendary and i think I'll try and make that my specialization from now on. Chances are that if I focus on finding a variant water type that I actually want first then I won't have time to train before I have to challenge Watson." I answered seriously and Brawly nodded in understanding.-
"Can't say as I've ever heard of a variant specialized trainer but I believe that with your ambition you may just be the first!" Brawly said with a thumbs up and a bright smile. 'Well I suppose his personality isn't THAT bad.' I thought after that as I left the gym. Unlike my last gym challenge though I didn't head to the pokecenter to get my pokemon checked out as I had already examined them and didn't find anything that would be an issue for me to handle alone.-
Honestly speaking Rune had it the roughest with a few broken ribs and cracked leg bone alongside an absolute fuckton of bruises and torn muscles. Or at least that was the case before he evolved as evolution had healed him to peak health while simultaneously leaving him flat out exhausted. Speaking of his evolution I got a neat little surprise on his status sheet after he evolved to a Charmeleon. To be specific it was his electric type variation that got an upgrade which also changed his innate ability as well.-

The evolution and upgrade in variation stage gave Rune frankly stupid stats that almost rivaled Vulcans current ones. Even more so was how straight up broken his new ability conduit was. Where volt absorb allowed Rune to take no damage from and even heal when hit by an electric type move conduit was one step above that in how it works as it gave those effects when Rune used an electric type move as well as when he got hit with one. In simple terms Rune was practically a perpetual motion machine in battle so long as he could use electric type moves. To my great pleasure the evolution also boosted Runes speed drastically as well so he could finally get in some actual movement training rather than needing to rely on quick attack to keep up. -
Appearance wise there wasn't any real changes from a normal Chameleons appearance besides the unique features Rune already had as a Charmander in the form of black stripes and the bright lightning orb at the tip of his tail. Anyways I had to awkwardly deal with the passionate crowd of people that thronged to me as I made my way through the city. Brawly had made our match a public event for the entire city after all so most people were still riding that high when I arrived and were thus a bit overzealous.-
It was a bit irritating but thankfully no one was trying to get handsy or things might have taken a violent turn. I could deal with an excited crowd around me no problem but I valued my personal space so having strangers trying to grab me was a quick way to end up with me swinging at faces. Mr. Briney already had the boat ready to go when I met up with him which was great as it let me make a get away flawlessly. The reason he had the boat ready was because he too had watched my match and thus roughly knew when I would arrive.-
Halfway to Slateport however my pokenav went off which confused me a bit until I opened it and got presented a message from the league itself. The gist of it was that there was a mission with a possibly grade six danger rating near Trode town which was smack dab between Mauville and Slateport. The league sent me the message asking me to take the mission and solve the problem that had cropped up. After looking the mission over I could only chuckle at it as I understood why I was specifically chosen for it.
