Chapter 2: Desperation
Chapter 2: Desperation
"SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT FUCKING DUMB PEICE OF SHIT!" I screamed at myself after ending up in my current predicament.
I looked around to see what I should do next since right now I'm held up in a small shed that can barely hold three people, luckily I am the only one inside. When I looked outside only one word came to describe what my eyes actually saw.
Nothing, I was not able to see a single damn thing, only smoke from the fires that were raging on as well as an extreme amount of dust kicked up from the impacts of the raging battle. Although calling it a battle would be generous since it was more like a one sided slaughter.
"I still can not believe that the Volestians sent in that aircraft, when I was trained by former soldiers from that nation, that thing was never taught nor brought up." I said to myself trying to remember if it actually was brought up or if I just simply forgot about it.
"Speaking of that thing, how in the world is it able to fly at such a high altitude and fire bullets and missiles off with such precision?" I questioned since what I was taught the Volestians technology should not be this grand.
"BRRRRRRRRTTTTTT"
The sounds of the aircraft's bullets hitting the ground shook the entire city I was located at. Fear and dread took over my entire soul just from the impact, but I knew this was not the last sound considering I didn't hear the weapons firing. Anxiety was building up as I did not know how to live through this mess.
"TRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT"
As that terrifying sound swept through the entire city I was already in a cold sweat and my anxiety yet again shot through the roof. You can call yourself lucky if you actually hear those sounds because it meant you were not the target on that specific gun run and that you're still alive, although the same can not be said for whoever did not hear those sounds.
I knew once the gun run was over I had to once again run through the city while trying to find an area where almost no one was since that will be a place where the aircraft is least likely to strike. The reason I believe this is because I've saw that damn thing reap thousands of lives in mere seconds in highly populated areas on every gun run it did.
"I need to move now while that scumbag is looking for its next victim's."
I finally got up and left the shed to make a run so that I could finally leave this city and make it to my extract point. When I opened the door, I still couldn't see a damn thing as nothing but dust and smoke filled my vision.
I can only see about five feet Infront of me and then white and yellow smoke. I decided to split my ki in half, moving the first half to my ears so that I have enhanced hearing while I put the other half to my legs to move faster.
Then I went down on one knee and put my palm onto the ground to send a mana pulse through the ground to find a clear path. I felt everything connected to the ground within a 300 yard radius. After that I would have to follow a path for those 300 yards and do this process again.
A minute has gone by and finally I found a path heading south which is the direction I've been heading for the past hour. I then went into a sprinter's position and exploded off the ground and started to follow the path which has no obstacles in its way as well as no humans.
As I was sprinting, I listened very closely to everything my ears would pick up, especially the sky since you could hear the aircraft coming in when it's about 60 seconds from reaching the city. After the gun run is over it has to turn around and fly back to the city which can take about 3 to 10 minutes depending on the target.
After half a minute of sprinting I made it to the end of my path and had to send another mana pulse through the ground, but many screams made there way to my ears making my heart drop.
"MOM WHERE ARE YOU?!" a voice of what seemed to be a child was screaming trying to find the light to his life.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHERE ARE MY LEGS" a panicked scream from a young woman whose life turned upside down.
"Father I am sorry; it seems like I won't be able to visit you today..." said a young man with a silently raised voice yet was choking on some words because of the emotions swelling through him.
Many more screams, shouts, and peoples dying last words were flowing into my ears and all of them together had caused me to stop pushing ki to enhance my hearing. After I stopped only the screams which were filled with pain and agony could be heard.
I had no thoughts and my mind was completely blank, I was already on my last straw mentally and these people's voices wanted to take away the last thing that kept me together. I wanted to cry, I wanted someone to comfort me and tell me I'm doing a good job, but that person has never showed up.
'It's been about 2 minutes, I need to find a building or at least some sort of cover so that my mind can feel a little more at ease when the aircraft comes in.' I thought and decided to send a mana pulse to search for anything that would give me a little cover.
I found a small building that was about 40 yards to my direct right and sprinted off there. Once I found the building, I went up to it and started to circle around it to see an entry point. Luckily there was a big ass hole in the side of the wall and decided to enter through that.
"It seems whoever lived here before left while taking everything they had with them." I inquired since the building was empty and only a couch which had rubble on it and an empty kitchen could be seen. I went to sit on the couch and wait for the aircraft to annihilate its next prey.
"I'm just sitting here not knowing if I'll live or die in next couple of minutes, how the hell did my life even come to this...." With my hands cupping my entire face tears started to come down as now I'm on the edge of a mental break down wondering if it was even worth the fight to live.
Screams can still be heard which did not help me at all because I too wanted to scream with all my might but for some reason, I was too scared to do so.
Whenever I'm alone all the dark thoughts in my head start to resurface causing my emotions to skyrocket which usually affects me in negative ways. However, when people are around me these thoughts never come out making me able to perform at a highly calculated level.
"I guess at the end of the day my mind is still like a damn child's, I never wanted to live this type of life mother." I paused because anger was burning inside of me just thinking about that bitch who gave birth to me. "Why..... why did you abandon me.... I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO YOU; I WAS ONLY A KID TRYING TO EARN YOUR LOVE!" I screamed no longer having that fear which held me back earlier because anger instead was in control.
I started to wipe off the tears that were on my face and was contemplating if I should start the plan of moving the extract point to my current location. Doing so would mean I would lower the chances of me dying by the Volestian Aircraft, but I would be the enemy of every single human within the city.
"I don't have any weapons on me either, my sword is gone and all the guns I had were all broken. I can probably hide within the fog of war, but if they have a sensor I'm completely fucked." I said trying to figure out a way to increase my chances of getting out of this shithole.
"If I can time the signal at the correct time that would mean a majority of the Volestians enemies would come to my position, meaning it'll make the perfect target for that reaper in the sky.." I said with excitement since at least if I died the people who made my life hell would be joining me.
"It's decided then, since it's been four minutes now I'll launch the signal a Volestian solider taught me in case of a worst case scenario." I walked outside of the house and raised both my hands to the sky while making sure the inside of my arms were touching. I gathered mana from both the inside and outside of my body making sure electricity was in my left arm and fire was in my right.
Using all the strength in my body I was pumping mana into my arms then gathering the outside mana into my palms to create a massive discharge of the electric and fire element. Then I shifted every bit of ki I could muster into my ears and rest of my body to survive the impact of this signal.
Doing so cause me to hear the horrific screams of everyone around me, but I was so angry that I couldn't care less and merely focused on my task.
After a minute of this process, I finally heard the sound of the aircraft coming in, it was still about a minute out, but this was perfect. I discharged the fire element in my right palm creating a red beam that shot up into the sky about 2 miles up. Then I sent a wire of electricity around the beam making it go only halfway up but that was more than enough. I then closed my left palm making the electricity wrap around the beam tightly.
"BOOOM"
A loud explosion sounded right on top of me sending my entire body through the ground leaving a crater with me inside of it. I couldn't see nor hear a single damn thing as my vision was beyond blurry and my ear drums were ruptured.
I had done the signal successfully, but it left my body in a horrendous state meaning the Volestians had to send in a rescue squad to retrieve me.
'This will tell me how important I am to them, although I'm a Volestian citizen and have important intel about their enemy, I hope they send a squad to save me even though I made it much harder for them.' I thought this while I was waiting for either my saviors or executioners.
