A Child Turned Into A Soldier

Chapter 17: The Fallen Empire

Chapter 17: The Fallen Empire

Hearing two high ranking members of the VIA state the Fallem Empire was actually real made my imagination started to run rampant.

This empire is a complete anomaly to human society, the only information known about it was that it is one of the first civilizations to be built on our planet Cyrus.

Through research and discovery we've found artifacts built by this nation lingering around the world with the same flag engraved on all of them. These artifacts have been able to help our understanding in mana and Ki jump exponentially, making us be able to contend with the other 3 major races.

The fact that I'm receiving the opportunity to know that such an esteemed empire exists is one fact, but to be able to attend an academy there is almost dreamlike.

The reason their holding this information to a select few is because they don't want to add another problem for humans to fear. Amongst all of the major races we stand at the weakest and countless wars have been raged upon us during our history.

After all, why is an ancient power not currently waging war on us when it probably has the capabilities to do so. Even I'm curious to know why, it simply doesn't make any sense.

History has told us that weakness in not allowed on this planet, if you are weak you will be conquered it's as simple as that.

Although our last real great war was only 40 years ago, the memories still lay fresh in everyone's mind. After all we humans have quite the long life spans depending on your Ki level, you could live up to 400 years if they are high enough.

'Still, it can't be that simple for them to tell me this, they definitely want something from me if I go.' I thought to myself after calming down from the news I just received.

"What will you have me do if I decide to go through with this? Don't play dumb either just tell me flat out."

Both men looked at each other deciding whether or not they wanted to decide to tell me my obligations even after telling them intel with high value.

"The situation itself is actually quite a complex one, if you do decide to enter the academy then a briefing will be held explaining everything that will be taking place. I can give you the main points now to help you with the deciding factor because the academy starts in one month's time, so we are on a tight schedule." Samual told me which wasn't too surprising since this is a major event.

I nodded my head signaling him to continue.

"This is the actual first year that the academy will be born. This means all of the races that were invited will all be new just like we are. As you know our relationships with the other races isn't great, although our relationship with the demon race has increased over the past ten years. The elves however are the opposite, if things continue to go the way they are with them then we believe a war will be waged in seven years time."

'.... Wow things are getting this bad and most people don't even know about it. I can't even think of the damages that will be done if a war with the elves transpired, especially in this day and age.' I thought to myself imagining the consequences of such an event happening.

"The main point being we need information, our intel on the other major races is laughable. Forty years have gone by, so things could have changed drastically making us be in an unforgiving situation where war might be waged soon with an enemy we know little about."

"We basically need intel, although we are sending our top talent among the five Human Superpowers, we need some kids who are capable of attaining intel and we believe you suit that position the most. By the intel you gave us earlier we know how capable you are, compared to kids your age no one comes close to this level." Luke chimed in giving detail to why they specifically wanted me.

This was a lot to take in and it seemed like my life already has come to yet another crossroad.

This was going to be a hard decision to make, I had just gotten back home and I hoped to amend the relationship with my mother with also trying to achieve a healthy mental state.

The opportunity itself though gave a lot of benefits. I would be able to learn from some of the best in the world in their field and finally get to observe other races.

I have only seen and interacted with humans my entire life, so I had wondered what other living beings were like.

"How much time do I have to make a decision?"

"You have one week, if you answer after that you will not be able to attend." Samual answered.

A week was actually a decent amount of time considering I found out when its a month away. I would take this time to go over everything to see if this was worth leaving everything behind once again.

"Okay that's plenty of time, who and where would I give my answer to?"

"We will come back in exactly one weeks time in the morning, if your answer is yes then have your stuff ready because we will be leaving immediately, if the answer is no, we simply move on."

"Okay, it that everything then?"

"Yes, that is everything, we will be taking our leave now and again thank you for the intel it is something we will never forget. As for the deal we offered don't feel forced to say yes, we understand why you wouldn't want to do it Azrail." Samual said as he and Luke started to get up off the couch.

I walked them to the door and we said our goodbyes to one another. After they left, I went back into my room to go over everything that happened and what I'll be doing with my life now.
