Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.545 Generic Pack Opening chapter title number #12

CH.545 Generic Pack Opening chapter title number #12

Today, I’m starting off by completing the two Hidden Arsenal sets I’ve yet to fully complete.

and .

And no, I’m not opening more packs of the two sets. I’m only missing 12 cards from both, so I’ll just get them with Capsules.

Spoiler

So let’s get to it.

Hidden Arsenal 3 first.

Dragunity Phalanx is nice enough. Sure it just special summons itself when equipped to a monster, but that in return allows for an easy Synchro play, so Phalanx is good.

Fabled Ashenveil can just get up to 2200, and only for the duration of the damage calculation. Not really worth a discard.

Fabled Oltro allows you to special summon a level 3 or lower Fabled from the hand, with the cost of discarding a card. Which is fine.

Jurrac Velphito is fine. It just has the combined attack of the Tuner and non-Tuner used for its summon.

Locomotion R-Genex grabs control of one opposing monster on summon, which is great.

Naturia Barkion isn’t as good as Naturia Beast, but it is still good. And it is one of the materials for Exterio, so great to have.

Naturia Dragonfly is nice. It cannot be destroyed by overly powerful monsters, and gains attack based on the number of Naturia monsters in the GY.

R-Genex Magma searches a level 2 R-Genex on summon. Really should have just been any Genex monster, but what do I know?

R-Genex Overseer allows you to special a Genex after it is summoned, so it is great.

R-Genex Ultimum is really meh. Just returns Genex monsters to the deck when it is destroyed. It really should add them to the hand or give you draw power on top of the return for it to be useful.

Worm Warlord can attack twice and negates the attacks of monsters it battles. Nice.

And Worm Xex is just a Foolish Burial for Worms, but that isn’t bad either.

Spoiler

But that is all of Hidden Arsenal 3. Now onto Hidden Arsenal 4.

Ancient Flamvell Deity isn’t terrible, but it is only good if your opponent has plenty of cards both in their hand and in their GY. Which usually will never be the case, unless you can force your opponent to draw, which you really don’t want to do, unless it is a cornerstone of your strategy.

Fabled Dianaira is nice. Can be summoned with 1 Fabled tribute and basically negates the first spell your opponent activates each turn.

General Gantala of the Ice Barrier special summons stuff for free, but only during the end phase. It is fine, but I wish that effect could be used during your main phase.

General Raiho of the Ice Barrier is fine. It can negate effects, unless your opponent discards a card. Which should mean paying 1000 mana. And that can really rack up, if you use multiple skills.

Genex Ally Changer just changes monster’s attributes for a turn. Not that great.

Jurrac Gallim takes the monster that destroyed it with it, unless said monster can give up 1000 mana. Which they most of the time can, so Gallim is trash.

Naturia Exterio. Didn’t I just mention you when I talked about Barkion? Anyway, you are amazing. Basically free Spell and Trap negation.

Neo Flamvell Sabre is really situational. Well, I suppose in life people don’t carry around graveyards, so he should have 2100 attack most of the time, so maybe he is good?

Sacred Spirit of the Ice Barrier can just sometimes return stuff your opponent controls to hand. Which is fine, but Sacred Spirit is a bit too unreliable to actually run in your usual Ice Barrier deck.

The Fabled Ganashia specials itself when discarded and even gains some bonus attack. Not bad.

The Fabled Unicore is actually busted. It can negate everything as long as me and my opponent have the same number of cards in hand. And I can freely manipulate how many cards I have in hand. So I can just have none, and Unicore should negate literally everything.

But want to know what else is busted? The card this set is named after. Hidden Arsenal 4: Trishula’s Triumph. Yeah. The last card I was missing is Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. And I don’t think I need to tell you that Trish is amazing. Just banish stuff from everywhere.

He is kind of like a baby version of The Wicked Emptiness, now that I think about it.

Spoiler

But yeah. That is Hidden Arsenal 3 and 4 completed.

And since I’m in a pack opening mood, I think I’ll open some packs of .

I’ll do at least 15, to bring my total up to 30, but I might do a few more if I feel like it.

Spoiler

Jar Turtle is cool. They have Jar in the name, so they should be able to activate Jar of Greed. And since they double the draw power of Jar of Greed, I should get two Reprint tokens for each Jar, instead of just one.

And Meklord Fortress is okay-ish. The protection should honestly already be an effect of the Meklord Emperors. The search is okay, but it really should search when activated, not when destroyed. And also, it really just doesn’t help to advance the Meklord playstyle, just makes the Emperors a bit more difficult to deal with. But only a tiny bit.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Meklord Army of Granel is nice. Halving the offensive stats of an opponent is great, even if just for a bit. I mean, Meklord Army of Granel can take down a Blue-Eyes if it attacks on the turn it is summoned. Then again, real life isn’t a card game, so it probably won’t work like that.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Contact with the Aquamirror is new. But isn’t Aquamirror stuff Gishki support. But I don’t have a single Gishki monster yet, and I don’t recall seeing any when I glanced at the cards in this set. So why is Contact with the Aquamirror here? Why was it released before all the other Gishki cards?

Well, whatever. It's fine enough. Being able to see traps is kind of cool. The other effect … Well, it might be okay, I need to test it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

Aurora Paragon is new. Sadly he isn’t that great. Sure he prevents all special summons, but he does nothing to normal summons and even dies when a monster is normal summoned. And you know what? Summoning magic counts as normal summoning, so Aurora Paragon can’t stop it.

Besides, if I want to stop summoning magic, I have better ways of doing so.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Soundproofed sucks. I mean, not really, but also yes. Sure it can stop Synchro summoning, which means it should stop spirit synchros. But it also stops me from using Synchro monsters, which isn’t optimal.

Junk Berserker on the other hand is quite a good monster. Good stats, destroys face down monsters at the damage step. And can weaken someone by banishing a Junk monster from the GY.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

T.G. Striker is fine. It special summons itself to an empty field if your opponent controls a monster. And if it dies on the field, it searches during the end phase.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Lancer Lindwurm just inflicts piercing, but it has okay stats, so that is fine.

And Blackwing - Jin the Rain Shadow can destroy monsters with less defense than his attack. But his attack is 600, so he ain’t destroying anything meaningful.

Next pack.

Spoiler

… Still nothing new.

Honestly, what a disappointing 15 packs. Out of all of them, I got 1, just 1 higher rarity card. Sure that one was an ultimate rare, but that doesn’t make up for it.

And since Pack Opener clearly hates me today, I think I’ll call it here. I’ll open more packs of Extreme Victory some other day.

The Novel will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
