Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.463 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 6

CH.463 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 6

“... how am I supposed to take that thing down?” Elias pondered aloud while Alice was shuffling our decks for the second duel of the match.

“That is something you have to figure out soon, or you won’t win this match.” I told him, probably sounding smug.

“... And I will.” Elias said, determination dripping from his voice.

Oh my sweet summer child. You have no clue. Five-Headed Dragon won’t be the worst thing you will face in this match.

“Elias. Pick which one of you will go first.” Alice said, as the second duel was about to begin.

“... Brian will go first.”

“Then let the duel begin.” Alice announced.

I drew my opening hand and I was ready to start. My opening hand consisted of Painful Choice, Ultimate Fusion, Monster Reborn, Fairy Dragon and Tribute to the Doomed. Yeah. I can work with this, even if I can’t do my turn 1 Five-Headed Dragon play.

Spoiler

I could summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, but I kind of want to save Ultimate Fusion for later. Besides, I won the first duel of the match, so I can afford to hold back a bit.

But just a bit. If Elias wants to win, he’ll have to earn his win.

“I think I’ll start off with a card you remember from the last duel, Painful Choice. You know how this works, so I’ll just reveal the cards.” I said, before I searched my deck.

This time, my selection was a bit different. I searched out my three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, and two Winged Dragon Guardian of the Fortress #1.

Spoiler

The Winged Dragons are there just for milling, and because I can use one of them with Fairy Dragon to summon Kaiser Dragon if Elias picks one of them.

“... Take one of the Winged Dragon Guardians.” Elias said.

I did just that, sending the three Blue-Eyes to my graveyard. And yes, if I were overly evil, I could now summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon with Ultimate Fusion, but I won’t be doing that just yet.

“Thanks. I’ll use it and the Fairy Dragon in my hand to summon Kaiser Dragon.”

Spoiler

“That will be all for my first turn, so go ahead.” I ended my turn.

“Alright. My turn. I draw.” Elias started his turn. “And I’ll start with Graceful Charity. I’ll draw three cards, then I’ll send The Snake Hair and Queen’s Double to the graveyard.”

Spoiler

“I’ll then play a second Graceful Charity, again drawing three and I’ll send Fusion Weapon and Dragon Zombie to the grave.”

Spoiler

“Now I’ll use Pot of Greed to draw two cards.” Elias continued. “... good. All I need. I’ll play Monster Reborn! With it, I’ll summon one of your Blue-Eyes White Dragons to my side of the field.”

Spoiler

“But don’t get too used to it, because it won’t be staying. At least as it is currently. I fuse it together with the two Blue-Eyes White Dragons in my hand to fusion summon the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”

Spoiler

“And then I’ll play Dimension Fusion to bring back my three Blue-Eyes White Dragons!” Elias continued.

Spoiler

“Not quite!” I interrupted. “Because one of the Blue-Eyes you used for the Ultimate Dragon was mine, it was added to my banished pile, not yours. So your Dimension Fusion summons it to my field, not yours. I’m also summoning my banished Winged Dragon Guardian of the Fortress #1 and Fairy Dragon in defense.”

“... I’ll still get two Blue-Eyes White Dragons.” Elias growled.

By the way, my Blue-Eyes White Dragon was in attack position, because that way he’ll have to attack it with Ultimate Dragon if he wants to destroy it.

And honestly, I’ll rather have it destroyed and sent to my GY than just keeping it on the field. Elias does have Brain Control in his deck, so he could use it to steal my Blue-Eyes, and then he could fuse it with the two others he just summoned back. And with Ultimate Fusion, it doesn't really matter where my Blue-Eyes White Dragons are, as long as they aren't in my deck.

Spoiler

“Battle.” Elias started his battle phase. “Ultimate Dragon, attack his Blue-Eyes. Blue-Eyes White Dragon destroy his Kaiser Dragon. And my last Blue-Eyes will destroy your Winged Dragon.”

All of Elias' attacks went through, destroying three of my monsters, and I took 2200 damage.

“I’ll set two cards and end my turn.”

Spoiler

“... honestly, not bad. You saw I had a weak opening board and took advantage of it. But that ends now.” I said, ready to start my turn. “I draw.”

What I drew was Dragon’s Mirror, but I won’t be needing it this turn. It is time to remind Elias that this match is supposed to be a challenge, because I have cards he doesn’t.

“I’ll play my Ultimate Fusion! With it, I can shuffle the necessary fusion materials for any Fusion monster that specifically lists either Blue-Eyes White Dragon or Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon from my hand, field or grave to my deck to perform a fusion summon.

And I just so happen to have three Blue-Eyes White Dragons in my grave, so I’ll shuffle all back to my deck to fusion summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”

“... another card we didn’t have.” Elias said.

“True. Think you would have used it if you could have?”

“... it does seem to go extremely well with that Painful Choice card. I did consider that card, but I didn’t think it was necessary.”

“What do you think now?”

“... still no. I think my deck is fine the way it is.”

“Good. Never doubt your deck. If you do, you won’t get the cards you need.”

“But enough with me complimenting your trust in the heart of the cards. Battle. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack his Blue-Eyes White Dragon!”

Elias didn’t counter my attack, instead just taking the 1500 damage and one dead Blue-Eyes.

“During my main phase 2, I’ll activate Tribute to the Doomed. I’ll discard my Dragon’s Mirror to destroy your Ultimate Dragon.” I activated a spell from my hand, because there is a high chance one of Elias’ set cards is Rush Recklessly. So if I let him keep the Ultimate Dragon, he will just attack over my Ultimate Dragon.

And sure. I still have Monster Reborn so I could try to summon his Ultimate Dragon to my field, but he might also have Call of the Haunted, which he could chain to my Monster Reborn, taking away the target of my spell. And I don’t feel like wasting a Monster Reborn.

So. “I’ll end my turn.”

Spoiler

“My turn then. I draw.” Elias started his turn. “I’ll play Upstart Goblin to draw a card. Then I’ll play Re-Fusion to summon back my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”

Spoiler

“Now battle. Blue-Eyes White Dragon will destroy your Fairy Dragon.” Naturally the attack went through and my dragon was destroyed. “Then my Ultimate Dragon will attack your Ultimate Dragon. And to make sure it wins, I’ll activate my set Rush Recklessly, so my Ultimate Dragon gains 700 attack.”

Again, the attack went through, my Ultimate Dragon was destroyed and I took 700 damage.

“I’ll end my turn.”

Spoiler

“Not bad Elias. Not bad. Now let’s see how you handle this.” I said, as I drew a card. It was another Fairy Dragon, but I don’t need that right now. Maybe if I can top deck another Dragon’s Mirror.

“I’ll activate Monster Reborn to summon back my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. And no point in hanging around, let’s get straight into battle. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, destroy his Blue-Eyes White Dragon.”

My attack went through and Elias took 1500 damage. I then pondered if I should set my Fairy Dragon or not, but I decided to keep it in hand for now.

“I’ll end my turn.”

Spoiler

“My turn then. I draw. … and I’ll discard a Thunder Dragon to add two more from my deck to my hand. I’ll then fuse the two Thunder Dragons to summon Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon.”

Spoiler

“And now we battle. My Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon will attack your Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!” Elias declared an attack and I was honestly expecting him to have another Rush Recklessly ready to go, but apparently he didn’t, as the two Ultimate Dragons just destroyed each other.

“Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon, direct attack.” Elias continued, and since I had no defense, I took 2800 damage. “I’ll then activate my Call of the Haunted. With it, I’m summoning back my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack him directly.”

Spoiler

“Well done, Elias. You actually managed to win a duel.” I congratulated my opponent between the matches.

“And I’ll be winning the next one as well.” Elias declared.

“Good. I’d expect nothing less. … but I should warn you. My deck still has one more surprise left for you. Hopefully I can show you that surprise in the next duel.”

“Whatever it is, I’m sure I can take it down.”

“Are both of you ready for the final duel of this match?” Alice asked, when she was done shuffling our decks. After we both answered with the affirmative, Alice asked the next question. “Brian, you lost, so pick who goes first.”

“Well, I’ve done it twice, so I think it is Elias’ turn to go first.”

“Elias shall go first. Draw your opening hands and begin the duel.”

I drew my opening hand and it consisted of Goddess with the Third Eye, two Blue-Eyes White Dragons, Ultimate Fusion and Pot of Greed. Decent enough for a start. I do have Ultimate Dragon in hand at least.

Spoiler

But since Elias was the one going first, I waited for him to make his move.

“I’ll start by discarding a Thunder Dragon so I can add two more to my hand. I’ll then fuse them together to summon Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon. That will be all.” Elias ended his turn.

“Okay. My turn. I draw.” The card I drew was a second Ultimate Fusion. “And I’ll start with my Pot of Greed, so I’ll draw two more.” The cards I got were Painful Choice and a second Goddess with the Third Eye. “And I think it is once again time for the choice. The Painful Choice. And I think I’ll pick cards you remember from our first duel.” I said as I revealed three copies of Winged Dragon Guardian of the Fortress #1 and two copies of Fairy Dragons.

“Take the Fairy Dragon.” Elias said, not seeming overly happy.

“I will. But I’ll use it later. Because now, it is time for the Ultimate Fusion. I fuse together the two Blue-Eyes White Dragons and one Goddess with the Third Eye to fusion summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!”

“... what? That isn’t … No! Another card we couldn’t have!” Elias called out.

“Yes. Goddess with the Third Eye can be used to replace any one named fusion material for any fusion summoning. In this case, it took the place of a Blue-Eyes White Dragon.” I informed him. “But enough about that. Let’s battle. If you can call this a battle. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, destroy his Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon.”

The attack went through and Elias took 1700 damage.

“I’ll end my turn.”

Spoiler

“My turn then. I’ll draw.” Elias started his turn. “And I think I’ll play Upstart Goblin to draw a card. Following that, I’ll use Graceful Charity to draw three more, and then I’ll send The Snake Hair and Queen’s double to the grave. Then a second Graceful Charity, another three cards for me, but Hibikime and Dragon Zombie go to the grave.”

“But that should be all I need. Because I have all three of my Blue-Eyes White Dragons in my hand, so I can banish them to fusion summon my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”

I watched as Elias' Ultimate Dragon rose to oppose my own.

“Now battle. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack his Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. I’ll then activate Rush Recklessly to boost my Ultimate Dragon by 700.”

My Ultimate Dragon was destroyed and I took 700 damage.

“I’ll set a card and end my turn.”

Spoiler

“Not bad. Again you bested my Ultimate Dragon.” I complimented Elias. “I just hope you didn’t use all of your resources on that. My turn. I draw.” And the card I drew was Dragon’s Mirror. Oh Elias. You are in for it now.

“I’ll start by normal summoning Fairy Dragon. And now, it is time for you to once again to gaze into the mirror. The Dragon’s Mirror. I’ll use it to fuse together the five dragons on my field and in my grave.”

“Five dragons unite to form the ultimate deity that brings nothing but destruction! Behold as its five heads bring calamity to all that is beneath! Fusion Summon! Level 12! Roar, Five-Headed Dragon!”

Spoiler

“... I’ve dealt with it before, and I can do it again.” Elias said, as he faced my God Dragon.

“Perhaps. But last time it was alone. This time, it won’t be! I activate Ultimate Fusion. With it, I can shuffle the materials of a fusion monster that needs Blue-Eyes White Dragon or Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon as a material from my hand, field or grave to the deck to summon that monster.”

“But you don’t have three Blue-Eyes anywhere, so you won’t be able to summon the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!” Elias said.

“Who said I’m summoning it? Didn’t you catch the words? If it needs either Blue-Eyes White Dragon or Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon as a material.”

“... NO! Are you saying?”

“That there is a dragon so mighty it needs the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon as a material. Yes. And it is time for that dragon to arrive, because I’m fusing the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon in my graveyard with the Goddess with the Third Eye in my hand.

“Ultimate Dragon of destruction. Ultimate warrior of light and dark. Join forces to become a power greater than the Gods! Fusion Summon! Level 12! Dragon Master Knight!”

Spoiler

“... okay. That might be an issue.” Elias said, and I noticed a drip of sweat rolling off his head.

“And it gets worse. Dragon Master Knight’s effect. It gains an extra 500 attack points for each Dragon I control, except itself. Which admittedly is just one, but that is still an extra 500 points.”

“... so a dragon with 5000 attack and another with 5500 attack.”

“Good. You added that so quickly. How about subtraction? Because you are about to lose a lot of life points very quickly! Dragon Master Knight, attack his Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Five-Headed Dragon, attack him directly.”

With both attacks going through, Elias was left with just 300 life points, no cards in hand, and only a single set card on the field to his name.

If he can come back from this, he will really deserve the reward.

“I’ll end my turn.”

Spoiler

“... no pressure, huh. Just a draw that will decide everything.” Elias muttered.

This would be the moment Elias would have some sort of dramatic scene in his brain, so I do wonder, is he having one? Maybe. Let’s see what he does.

“I draw!” Elias called out, as he drew the top card of his deck. He then looked at it, looking confused at first, almost like he drew a card which he didn’t know. But after reading it, he seemed extremely fired up.

“I’ll activate my set Call of the Haunted! With it, I’m calling back my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.” Elias seemed so happy to have his dragon on his field again. I do wonder. What did he draw? It can’t be just Rush Recklessly, because while that would allow him to get rid of Five-Headed Dragon, he will then just die to Dragon Master Knight on my next turn.

“I activate my equip spell, Megamorph! And I’ll equip it to my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon! Now, as long as I have less life points than you do, my Ultimate Dragons attack points are doubled!”

Spoiler

And so, it was my turn to call out: “What!?”

I know for a fact I didn’t allow that card, and considering that I’m the one who made the cards for this tournament, and I never printed one. Which means that someone ‘borrowed’ my dungeon core to print one.

And with the stupid grin on Alice’s face, I can guess just who did that. And considering she was the one to shuffle our decks, she had the perfect opportunity to add it to Elias’ deck.

“Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon attack! Destroy his Five-Headed Dragon!” Elias declared his attack.

I naturally had no choice but to let the attack through. My Five-Headed Dragon was destroyed and I took 4000 damage. Also, since a dragon on my field was destroyed, Dragon Master Knight lost 500 attack, not that that matters much at this point.

“Your turn Brian.” Elias ended his turn.

Spoiler

“So it is.” I said, as I drew a card, getting Tribute to the Doomed. I guess the heart of the cards isn’t quite with me, because this spell is useless without a discard, and I don’t have one. Well, I’ll survive until my next turn and then I’ll get a discard and I’ll destroy that Megamorphed Ultimate Dragon. “I’ll switch my Dragon Master Knight to defense and end my turn.”

Spoiler

“My turn. I draw.” Elias started what would be the last turn of this tournament. “And I’ll activate Big Bang Shot, equipping it to my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. It gains 400 attack and it will now deal piercing damage.”

Spoiler

… Well, fuck me I suppose. Not that I don’t deserve it. I was the ‘evil antagonist’ of this tournament arc, and I did so on purpose.

“Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack his Dragon Master Knight and end this!” Elias declared the final attack.

And so, the Fusion Gate Tournament came to an end. And it didn't just have one winner, but two.
