CH.461 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 4
CH.461 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 4
“Alright. Now that the short break is over, are both of you ready for the final duel?” I asked the two competitors.
I did insist on a break between the first two duels and what would be the last one, just to build up more anticipation. I also think the two needed a quick break.
And you know, the audience was able to pick up some snacks. I even swapped my race to Dhampir and had some dragon blood to rejuvenate myself.
I should try mixing some caffeine into blood. I think that would be the ultimate energy drink for a dhampir.
… yeah. Maybe not. It might not be good for them.
My caffeine addiction aside, let’s get back to it. After confirmation from both competitors, the third duel was ready to begin.
“Elias. You lost the second duel, so you may choose who will go first.”
“Nevelle will go first.” Elias said.
“Alright. Both competitors, draw your opening hands and let the duel begin!”
Nevelle went first and after looking over her opening hand, she made a simple play.
“I’ll set a monster and two spell or trap cards. That is all.”
“My turn then.” Elias said. “I’ll start off with a Pot of Greed. Then I’ll play Upstart Goblin.” Elias then looked at the card he drew with his Upstart Goblin and smiled. But his smile looked more evil than happy. “I think this duel will end quickly. I fuse together the three Blue-Eyes White Dragons in my hand to fusion summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!”
I was quite impressed by the luck needed to call forth the three headed dragon on the first turn, but it is what it is. Let’s see how Nevelle handles this surprise. But I have a feeling she will do fine.
“Nice dragon. Would be a shame if I had a trap for it.” Nevelle taunted.
“Oh I know you do. That is why it needs companions. And I have just the card for it. Dimension Fusion! With it, I’m summoning back my three Blue-Eyes White Dragons!”
“Battle. Blue-Eyes White Dragon, attack her face down.” And so it did, and Nevelle’s face down Sangan was destroyed. Like many times before, Nevelle used it to search out Des Kangaroo.
“Alright. Blue-Eyes White Dragon, direct attack.” Elias declared, and after the first direct attack went through, he declared a second direct attack with his last Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
“With that, I’ll end my turn.” Elias said.
“... really?” Nevelle asked. “Not attacking with your Ultimate Dragon?”
“I know one of your face downs is Sakuretsu Armor. You were saving it for my Ultimate Dragon. You likely have a Monster Reborn in your hand, ready to summon my greatest monster to your side of the field after you destroy it, so I won’t attack with it until I can destroy your face down cards.”
“You better hope you are correct, or you’ll look like quite the fool.” Nevelle said. “My turn. I draw. I’ll start off with my Pot of Greed, and draw two more. Then I’ll play Graceful Charity, I draw three and then I’ll discard Poison of the Old Man and Mystic Horseman.”
“I’ll then fuse together my Big Koala and Des Kangaroo to fusion summon Master of Oz! Then I’ll equip my Master of Oz with Big Bang Shot, making it stronger than your Ultimate Dragon.”
“And now, my Master of Oz will destroy your Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”
Elias had no set spells or traps, so the attack went through, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was destroyed and Elias took 100 damage.
“Main phase 2. I’ll give you this. You were at least half correct.” Nevelle said. “I’ll play Monster Reborn. I’m bringing back your Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”
“I knew it!” Is all Elias could say, as he watched his Ultimate Dragon rising from the grave to serve his opponent.
“Well, hopefully you can do something about it.” Nevelle said. “Or this will end up a very short duel.”
“Already longer than the last one. Are you done with your turn?”
“Yes, go ahead.”
“I draw.” Elias began his turn. “And I’ll start off with my Graceful Charity. I’ll draw three and discard Queen's Double and Hibikime.”
“Discarding a fusion, huh?”
“Have to do what you have to do.” Elias replied. “I’ll then play Upstart Goblin to draw one more card.”
“And I’ll get 1000 more life points.”
“You will need them. I play Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy one of your face down card.”
The whirling wind struck Nevelle’s set card, revealing and destroying Sakuretsu Armor.
“Let’s hope that was the only one.” Elias muttered quietly. “I’ll fuse together my three Blue-Eyes White Dragons to summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!”
“Nice dragon. Wonder where I could get one of my own. Oh wait. I already have one.” Nevelle trash talked a bit.
“You won’t for long. I’ll equip my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon with Big Bang Shot, so it gains 400 attack. With that, it is strong enough to … Well, destroy the one you stole from me. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack her Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”
Nevelle’s set card must not have been a second Sakuretsu Armor, because she let the attack land. Her stolen Ultimate Dragon was destroyed and she took 400 damage.
“I’ll set two cards face down, and end my turn.” Elias said.
“... we may still have a duel on our hands.” Nevelle said.
“A duel? No. This will be my Ultimate Dragon beating down your beasts.” Elias replied.
“... we’ll see. I draw.” Looking over the card she drew, Nevelle didn’t seem too happy. “... I’ll end my turn.”
“Can’t do anything, huh? Too bad, because I can. I can draw.” Elias began his turn. “Pot of Greed, I'll draw two cards. And I think I’ll discard one of them, Thunder Dragon, so that I can add two more from my deck to my hand. I’ll then fuse the two Thunder Dragons to fusion summon Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon.”
“But because this party doesn’t have enough dragons, I’ll call out one more. With Re-Fusion, I’m summoning back a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”
Elias now had two Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragons on his field, and he looked like he was ready to end this duel.
“Battle. My stronger Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon will destroy your Master of Oz.” Elias declared. The attack went through, Nevelle’s monster was destroyed, the equip spell went with it, and Nevelle took 300 damage.
“Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon, attack her directly.” Elias declared. I was a bit surprised he didn’t attack with his other Ultimate Dragon, but maybe he just wanted to show off or something.
“A mistake.” Nevelle said. “I activate my Call of the Haunted. With it, I’m bringing back my Master of Oz.”I'll talk a bit about this misplay in my author's notes.
“Doesn’t matter. I’ll call of my Thunder Dragon. Shouldn’t have relied on lesser monsters. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, destroy her Master of Oz.”
Again, the dragon won over the beast, and Nevelle took another 300 points of damage.
Admittedly, had Elias attacked in the ‘correct’ order, he still wouldn’t have had the damage to end the duel. … unless one of his set cards is Rush Recklessly, which I have a strong feeling one of them is.
“Go ahead and take your last turn. Next turn, I’ll win.” Elias said, as he passed the turn.
“We’ll see.” Nevelle responded. “I’ll draw.”
She looked happy with her draw, and as soon as she activated the card, I realized why.
“I’ll play Pot of Greed to draw two more cards. I’ll then play a second Pot of Greed to draw two more. I’ll then use Graceful Charity to draw three, and discard two. I’ll discard two Battle Ox.”
“I’ll then fuse together Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan to fusion summon Sanwitch.”
“Nice witch. Where did you find him? The forest?”
“Actually yes. But want to know what. Those who live in forests are good with weapons. Like this one. Fusion Weapon. I’ll equip it to my Sanwitch.”
“Nice. Now it can stand up to my Thunder Dragon. But not the Ultimate Dragons it is facing.”
“Didn’t you listen? I said weapons, not weapon. I’ll equip two more Fusion Weapons two Sanwitch. It gains another 3000 attack and defense, bringing its attack up to 6600.”
“...” Elias didn’t verbally respond, as his mouth fell open.
“Sanwitch, attack Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon.” Nevelle declared her attack and Elias didn’t respond to it. Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon was destroyed and Elias took 3800 damage. He was left with just 1300 life points.
“Your turn. If you think my witch is so weak, go ahead and take it down.”
“... I draw.” Elias began his turn, but it seemed clear to me how this duel will end. “I’ll play Upstart Goblin to draw one more card.” Elias announced, but the card he drew must not have been useful, because he just changed his dragons to defense mode and ended his turn.
“My turn. I draw.” Nevelle began her turn. “And I’ll play Graceful Charity to draw three.” Nevelle looked over the cards she drew. “Perfect. I’ll toss our a Monster Reborn and Big Koala.”
“You discarded a Monster Reborn!?” Elias yelled out.
“Yes. I don’t need it. All I need is this. Big Bang Shot. And I’ll equip it to my Sanwitch. Now its attack is 7000, and when it attacks one of your covering dragons, it will inflict piercing damage. Both this duel and this match are over. Sanwitch, attack his Big Bang Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and end this.”
The attack went through, Elias’ Ultimate Dragon was destroyed and he took 3200 damage. More than enough to take his life points down to 0.
“And with that, we have our winner!” I announced. “Nevelle has won the Fusion Gate Tournament!”
