Yuan's Ascension

Chapter 485: Full Outburst, Legendary (3)

Chapter 485: Full Outburst, Legendary (3)

"He finally failed, who is this Number 850?" The Golden Core Bloodforge Kings sighed in relief.

Though passing the fifth stage was a mind-boggling feat, it was still within their realm of understanding; throughout the endless years, similar monstrous prodigies have also been born before.

But passing the sixth stage? That was too ridiculous!

The thousands of Golden Core Bloodforge Kings watched the figure as they stood up, their hearts filled with envy and jealousy!

By passing the fifth stage, he could obtain a Legendary opportunity at least. And there was a small chance he would get the Overlord opportunity!

Though the woman in white didn't specifically mention what the Overlord opportunity was, it was definitely much more powerful than the Legendary opportunity.

...

“Number 850, not bad."

"You have exceeded my expectations by making it through the fifth stage. You have secured a Legendary opportunity at minimum," the woman in white robes eyed Wu Yuan, her brows twitching, as if trying to decipher his secrets.

"Thank you, Senior," Wu Yuan replied respectfully, grasping the unsaid meaning in her words.

Normally, Wu Yuan would only manage to clear the fourth stage. The fifth stage? Impossible!

It was only with the blood mist, and by pushing himself to his absolute limit, that Wu Yuan had narrowly passed the fifth stage. As for the test of his soul that came after, he got through it with ease.

But the sixth stage? Wu Yuan had utterly failed. Every guardian he faced was stronger than himself.

There was no need for a siege. Just two or three guardians working together were enough to defeat Wu Yuan in two moves.

Wu Yuan estimated that all guardians of the sixth stage had reached the Dao Field stage, and all of them possessed second-degree immortal roots.

One hundred of them working together? Wu Yuan couldn't fathom what sort of genius could get through such a terrifying combination in their fifties or sixties.

Perhaps, one would need to be a monstrous prodigy who could clear level ninety or hundred of the one-star tower. Wu Yuan sighed quietly.

It was too challenging.

Nevertheless, Wu Yuan felt great satisfaction. Clearing the fifth stage meant he'd have a Legendary opportunity at least.

...

Time went by.

Batches of Golden Core Bloodforge Kings continued to enter the Overlord Hall and begin their tests.

Perhaps motivated by Wu Yuan, the performance of the hundreds of Golden Core Bloodforge Kings who came after him was markedly better.

Many managed to clear the third stage. And even more astonishing, there emerged a peerless genius who cleared the fourth stage, drawing everyone's attention!

Number 1066, his talent is likely not inferior to mine. Wu Yuan committed this number to memory.

Without the aid of the blood mist, Wu Yuan would have been eliminated at the fourth stage.

Passing the fourth stage signified terrifying talent. Throughout the entire macrocosm, he was undoubtedly top-tier!

Finally, the last batch of Golden Core Bloodforge Kings completed their tests, and the Battle of Kings drew to a close.

"Very good!"

"All of you are truly outstanding," the white-robed woman looked down at the 1163 Golden Core Bloodforge Kings, a hint of a smile surfacing on her icy face.

"One passed the fifth stage, one passed the fourth stage, and eleven passed the third stage."

"May you obtain the opportunities you seek.”

“More importantly, don’t forget that you can join the Bloodforge Battle again once you reach the Amethyst Cradle or Shambhala phase. As long as you become an Amethyst Cradle Bloodforge Marquis, you will be eligible to enter the Overlord Hall."

"However, you may only participate once per major phase. Even if you have multiple true selves, only one is allowed to participate." The white-robed woman's gaze swept down.

Everyone listened.

Participate in the Bloodforge once more after reaching the Amethyst Cradle or Shambhala phase? This notion stirred some excitement among the Golden Core Bloodforge Kings.

They were all the strongest Golden Core cultivators selected from each first-tier division.

Once they broke through, the probability of becoming an Amethyst Cradle Bloodforge Marquis in the future was extremely high.

However, almost everyone's attention was on Wu Yuan. All of them had one thought in mind – Amethyst Cradle Bloodforge King!

Even though there was still a long time to go, in the eyes of these Golden Core Bloodforge Kings, claiming the title of Amethyst Cradle Bloodforge King was just a matter of time for Wu Yuan with his burgeoning talent. He was far too talented.

Naturally, these Golden Core Bloodforge Kings were still unaware of Wu Yuan's identity, everything was just conjecture.

"Now, go select your opportunities. It's time to test your providence," the woman in white said softly, "Remember, the best opportunity is the one that suits you."

With that said, waves of invisible power instantly enveloped every single Bloodforge King, including Wu Yuan. Immediately after, they all vanished from the spot.

The fifth stage?

It's been a long time since one has emerged. The woman in white robes murmured to herself. I wonder if it will be enough to satisfy the Overlord.

I've been waiting in this Bloodforge Spacetime for far too long. The woman in white robes sighed inwardly. Do I really have to wait till a monstrous prodigy who can pass the sixth stage shows up?

However, this Wu Yuan is quite strange. From what I could observe, he should only be able to clear the fourth stage at most, but in the end, he was able to clear the fifth stage. The white-robed woman shook her head slightly.

She couldn't observe the situation inside the Overlord Hall. Therefore, she could only guess.

...

This was a vast and strange area. A scattered array of ancient and profound artifacts, each radiating a faint glow, hovered in mid-air. Apart from that, darkness swallowed everything.

Wu Yuan only felt a momentary dizziness before he found himself in this strange space. His gaze swept across his surroundings.

What is this place? Wu Yuan's pupils contracted slightly, his heart thudding.

Each item suspended in mid-air might only exuded a trace of imposing pressure, but when combined, the force they collectively generated was way beyond what a mere Spiritual Body youngster could withstand.

"As you have cleared the fifth stage, you are eligible for a Legendary opportunity, and even stand a chance of obtaining an Overlord opportunity," the cold, indifferent voice rang out once again in Wu Yuan's mind.

"The opportunities originate from the items you see."

"You may choose the artifact most suitable for yourself. Just state its number," the voice coldly instructed Wu Yuan about the rules.

He would be the one making the choice?

So it does rely on luck. Wu Yuan muttered inwardly.

He scanned through the array of artifacts. Each one was incredibly mighty and unique.

With his current discernment abilities, he couldn't tell which ones were stronger or weaker.

I'll look through all of them. Wu Yuan decided. Keeping a safe distance, he carefully examined each item.

Some were fragments of swords, shiny and new.

Some were ancient books with ripped covers.

Some were jade slips.

Some were talismans.

There were nearly a hundred of these items, but only a few were artifacts, the rest were all sorts of oddities, seemingly left here at random.

But Wu Yuan did not dare to belittle any object, opting to take his time to select the best option.

Soon, Wu Yuan had looked through every available item.

There are ninety-one items in total, representing ninety-one opportunities I may pick from. However, among these items, those that represent Overlord opportunities are likely limited to just two or three, or perhaps only one.

If the probability of selecting an Overlord opportunity was high, he might stand a chance even if he made a haphazard choice. But if that were really the case, what was the point of attempting to clear the sixth stage?

This was Wu Yuan's guess.

It was similar to how passing the third stage theoretically gave one the hope of obtaining a Legendary opportunity. But in reality, how many could actually obtain it?

What item should I choose? Wu Yuan frowned.

His qi refining self was unable to consult his master's opinion, thus he could only rely on his own judgment.

He deliberated for a long while.

I can't make out much from each object. If I select one blindly, the probability of failure is very high. Perhaps I could try examining them with my spirit, with my Soul Force. I should be able to perceive whether something is compatible with myself.

A compatible choice was unlikely to be the wrong one.

Standing in place, Wu Yuan released his invisible Soul Force, spreading it out to cover the treasures representing his potential opportunities.

He dared not touch the treasures with his Soul Force, only observing and carefully sensing them from a distance.

Although the item had equally strong auras, there were subtle differences between each one.

Time passed.

Among these treasures, there are four that my soul resonates faintly with. These should be the ones most suitable for me. Wu Yuan perceived.

The first one was a piece of bone, etched with the traces of time.

The second was an earthy-yellow saber.

The third was a nearly withered sapling, its leaves yellowing. He couldn’t tell what species of tree it was.

The fourth was a crystal clear triangular prism. He couldn’t detect much from its appearance alone.

After perceiving the objects with his full focus, he could sense that these four objects held a mysterious allure for him, faintly attracting his attention.

The best opportunity is the one that suits me. Though the exact levels of these treasures are unknown, they are at least Legendary opportunities. Wu Yuan stepped forward, traversing the void.

He quickly arrived at the first object – a bone fragment.

Although the bone was white, it faintly shimmered with a blood-red glow, as though it was a living creature about to awaken. It emanated a peculiar and chilling aura.

This bone... Wu Yuan closely observed the fragment.

The more he studied it, the more he felt an odd sensation from within the bone, a hint of a surging life force on the verge of bursting out.

Out of nowhere, an irresistible urge to touch it seemed to take hold of his mind. Unconsciously, he began to reach his hand out.

Just as he was about to make contact, the previously quiet black pagoda trembled violently.

Boom! An eruption of endless blood-red light flooded Wu Yuan's upper dantian lobe.

It seemed to act like a warning, or a barrier, completely enveloping Wu Yuan's upper dantian lobe, protecting Wu Yuan's soul in the center.
