You're My Only Star

Chapter 9 - Playing Detective

The music blasted loudly and the colorful lights were flashing everywhere.

Song Xing Xing winced as the light was blinding her. Her eyes narrowed into a slit as she tried to get used to her surroundings. At the same time, Song Xing Xing was trying her best to look out for her friend, Bai Zhi.

The two of them had entered the venue half an hour ago just in time after the fashion show ended.

The people had dispersed to mingle among themselves and some chose to leave. The entrance was a little crowded and perhaps, it was because of this reason that she managed to sneak into the venue.

At this time, she was a little in disbelief that she had allowed Bai Zhi to talk her into doing this thing.

When Bai Zhi told her that they were coming to this fashion show to catch her cheating boyfriend, Song Xing Xing had thought that the woman had acquired the invitation for them to enter.

Who would have thought that Bai Zhi would ask her to sneak in?

As she thought of the exciting moment where she had to walk among people to pass the security, Song Xing Xing was unable to calm down. She was so afraid of getting caught.

If she knew that Bai Zhi did not have the invitation, Song Xing Xing would have asked someone she knew to help her and get them! That way, she did not have to worry about getting caught while sneaking in.

As soon as they entered, Bai Zhi had told her that they should go on separate ways. That way, it would be easier to find her boyfriend. After instructing her to snap a few photographs of her boyfriend in his cheating act, Bai Zhi disappeared into the crowd, leaving Song Xing Xing on her own.

It wasn't as if she had never attended such an event before. In the past, when her mother or cousins had dragged her to attend an event such as this, but Song Xing Xing had never paid too much attention to fashion.

Moreover, those outfits that the models wore on the runway do not seem very comfortable to wear on the street.

Song Xing Xing stood still as she thought of what she wanted to do next.

The last time she saw Bai Zhi, that woman was heading to the entrance where there was a large crowd gathering. Since Bai Zhi had wanted to split to save time, it would be better if she headed in another direction.

As the thought came to her mind, Song Xing Xing decided to head over backstage.

If Bai Zhi's boyfriend, Chang Yi, was coming to this event to meet his supermodel girlfriend, then Chang Yi should have gone backstage to meet this supermodel, right?

Taking a deep breath, Song Xing Xing went in the direction and entered the place. At this time, the situation backstage was a little hectic as the models were changing out of their outfits and make-up.

Perhaps, everyone was too busy with their own matters that no one seemed to find it strange for Song Xing Xing to be around the place.

Feigning her confidence, Song Xing Xing started to look around for Chang Yi. After walking from end to end, Song Xing Xing could not find that man. She sent a text to Bai Zhi to inform her that her man was not hanging around backstage. Then, she went out and headed to another hall before someone was going to catch her for an unauthorized entrance.

Anyway, after walking around for a while, Song Xing Xing was convinced that her friend, Bai Zhi was being paranoid and her boyfriend, Chang Yi shouldn't be in a place like this.

Once she walked into another hall, Song Xing Xing looked around and noticed the decoration around the hall. It was at this time that she recalled that there was an after-party once the show ended.

Back then, her cousin would always pester her to accompany her to this party. Song Xing Xing was someone who did not like to socialize with people she could not find a similar interest. Therefore, was not enjoying this after-party very much. As she was forced to accompany her cousin, Song Xing Xing would often choose to sit in the corner while eating the food they served.

Song Xing Xing took a deep breath. Her gaze swept around the room to look for Chang Yi. As she had expected, she could not see that man in this room. After sending a message to Bai Zhi of her whereabouts, Song Xing Xing then decided to wait for Bai Zhi to come over and fetch her.

She looked at the food on the banquet table and decided to pick a few. Her eyes darted around and once she was sure that there was no one looking, Song Xing Xing picked up a prawn spring roll and took a bit.

A deep breath escaped her as the taste swum around her taste bud.

As she was enjoying her food in the corner, Song Xing Xing continued to look around. At this time, several people walked into the venue before the party started. Song Xing Xing lifted her head in time to see that a woman with long, curly brown hair entered the venue.

Beside that woman was a man that she recognized.

It was Bai Zhi's boyfriend, Chang Yi.

Her mouth dropped and the spring roll in her mouth almost dropped.

Song Xing Xing watched as Chang Yi wrapped his arms around that woman's waist. Then, the woman leaned forward to whisper something to Chang Yi before the two burst into a heartily laugh.

From the couple's intimacy, anyone could see that something was going on between the two of them.

Seeing this scene, Song Xing Xing immediately took out her phone to snap the evidence in front of her.

Because she was a little anxious, Song Xing Xing fumbled with her phone in her hand. Her hands trembled as she was still in disbelief. She had thought that Bai Zhi was mistaken, but now, the evidence was right in front of her.

This was her first time playing as a detective and Song Xing Xing thought that it was a little exciting.

After pointing her phone camera towards Chang Yi, Song Xing Xing zoomed the image on the phone closer before she pressed the shutter button a few times.

The light from her camera flashed twice. A curse escaped her lips as she realized that she had not turned off the flash.

Song Xing Xing looked up and saw that Chang Yi was looking in her direction with a deep frown on his face. Sensing that she would get herself into trouble, Song Xing Xing turned around and tried to leave.

However, as she reached closer towards the exit, someone grabbed at her wrist and forced her to turn around.

"Are you a reporter? Which media are you from?" The man's angry voice resounded in her ears.
