You're My Only Star

Chapter 68 - He Is A Coward

As the siblings stood to leave the office, Lu An Ran saw her brother's coat on his table. She turned around and went to pick up the coat. "Brother, you're not taking this along with you?"

Lu Xun stared at the coat for a few seconds longer. "It's fine. Just leave it there. I'll take it back tomorrow."

Thinking that her brother probably wanted to keep another extra coat at his office, Lu An Ran shrugged before trailed after her brother.

When they arrived at The Orchid Hotel, Lu An Ran texted her husband to inform him that they will be meeting him at the lounge and headed to the restaurant together.

Once she had finished texting with her husband, Lu An Ran turned to her brother and caught him staring at the seating area in the corner. She followed his gaze but could not see anything fascinating.

"Big brother. You... What are you looking at?" She could not see a thing or anyone. Could it be that her brother can see spirits? Lu An Ran shivered as she had successfully scare herself.

Hearing her voice, Lu Xun snapped out of his trance and flashed a smile at his sister.

When he recalled his conversation with his sister in his office earlier, the words that Song Xing Xing had spoken the other day rang in his ear. A frown appeared on his face and Lu Xun was in deep thought.

His sister had thought that he had not let go of his breakup with Shi An Na seven years ago. That was the reason he had not to move on and had never tried to get into another relationship.

Perhaps her sister was halfway right. Perhaps, after years has passed, he was still unable to get forget the past.

Lu Xun was aware that he is a coward. Back then, he has been so in love with Shi An Na. Their relationship was good and they were planning to get married. Then suddenly, she had told her that she changed her mind. She had found someone better than him.

Her betrayal was too hurtful. In the end, Lu Xun did not dare to take another step and try again. He was afraid that if he gave out his heart again, there was a chance that the same thing might happen again.

That woman was also the reason why he was willing to spend his money and invest in a lot of business. The money was initially something that Shi An Na had given him.

When he decided to spend that money, Lu Xun was ready to lose them, and perhaps it would help him in getting over his ex-girlfriend. Who would have thought that each time he invested that money, he would make a lot of them instead of losing them?

Should he say that he's lucky or unlucky?

It was because of this that he was unable to let go.

Then, he recalled Song Xing Xing's words. Could it be that he was still obsessing over Shi An Na and was unable to let go?

"An Ran."

"What?"

"Do you really think that I am unable to move on from Shi An Na?"

Lu An Ran was surprised upon hearing his brother's sudden question. She stared back at him and wonder if she had perhaps heard things wrongly. Her brother was someone who did not want to talk about this breakup.

If she had touched the matter lightly, her brother would find a way to quickly change the subject.

She quickly tried to compose herself and spoke. "Yes. In fact, I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Our parents, your friends… we all had the same opinion." Lu An Ran sat up straight. "Brother, why do you suddenly ask me this question?"

A light smile appeared on his face and this smile did not reach his eyes. He quickly looked away and shook his head. "Nothing. I was just thinking. The other day, someone said something."

"What did the person say?" Lu An Ran asked impatiently.

Lu Xin tried to recall those words that made him think of himself in these past few days.

"That it was better to let go," Lu Xun spoke slowly. "Stubbornly obsessing over someone will only make you lose yourself and suffer." Once he finished saying those words, Lu Xun turned to his sister again and saw that she was staring at him with wide eyes.

"I think that person is right. Big brother, you might think that you were trying to forget your ex. I know you hated her for what she did." Lu An Ran chuckled. "Believe me. I hated her for what she did as well. But brother, if you are not careful, this hate will also make you suffer."

Lu Xun took off his glasses and wiped them with clean clothes as he tried to organize his thought. He would often do this when he was thinking of something. At this time, his mind was in a mess.

"Brother, tell me." Lu An Ran reached to touch his hand. "Who is that person?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"I think that this person is an interesting person. Who is it? Was it someone I know?"

"You don't know her."

Lu An Ran was quick to catch her brother's words. "Her? So it's a woman?" Her eyes brightened. "Who is it?" Lu An Ran sucked some air through her teeth as she pretended to be in deep thought. "I have a feeling that if I meet this girl, we can be good friends."

Lu Xun snorted but did not say anything else. The more he said, the more his sister would ask questions.

As Lu An Ran tried to find out information from her brother, two figures were seen walking in their direction. She looked up when she heard the footsteps, and saw that her son was running over in her direction.

"Uncle Lu Xun!" Jia Xuan stopped and hugged his uncle's legs. Then he looked up at the tall man and smiled. "I missed you!"

Lu Xun stretched his hand and patted the boy's head. Then, he looked up and smiled at her sister's husband. "Professor Jia. It's good that you decided to bring my sister and nephew here for vacation." He looked at the short boy at his side and spoke, "Later, let's discuss the place you wanted to visit the most.. I'll make time and take you around."
