Chapter 51 Guild Progress
Silversword Fields:
Hundreds of people stood there, calmly looking forward.
They weren't talking to each other, laughing at jokes, none of the shebang. Two days of battling wore them out, but none of them dared to leave.
After all, the guild that Jake had put together was not just a gathering of the best talents that came here, but also a culmination of the desperate. Some of these people needed this money now that their livelihood was gone
In front of them, Jake and Myriad Arrows were standing there, looking at each and every single one of these groups, properly segregated.
He had taken the camera and stored its memory chip in his inventory so that he could take a look later, but now, he needed to look at his guild members, to see if they were going to be reliable in the future.
"Now then, you guys have killed a lot of sword flies, I hope. How many sword beaks have you guys collected? Group by group, please come forward to report your collections, as well as any extra items that you might have gotten in the drops." Jake said as he snapped his fingers, summoning a chair and table from his inventory space.
Not everyone from the groups had to go forward. Just one from each group stepped forward, and even then, that was a whole thirty people.
One by one, they lined up behind the table, reporting their yields.
"Group one has gotten a total of fifteen thousand and twenty three sword beaks, guild master. As for extra items, we have gotten just the one. A sword that we think is made of the sword beak. It seems to be a rare class item." the man said.
A rare class item! None of these players had a rare class item yet. They went for way too much money, and if they could afford that, then they wouldn't need to rush to another city to try and become a part of this paying guild.
Jake also nodded, surprised that the members were willing to part with a rare item. This was probably worth around twenty silvers on its own, a big amount for these people.
"Good. We will stock this in the inventory. Each member of the first group will get two contribution points. Each contribution point is worth one silver, and for now, the only place that you can redeem it is in my store. Soon, we will have a guild base with all the items that the guild has amassed." Jake said.
The first group nodded, overjoyed that at least they got something out of this. Soon, it would become law that no matter how lucky guild members were on their drops, they would have to surrender them to the guild they were a part of.
Even Jake had to do this in his previous life, and it was the reason for his demise.
One by one, the guild members reported their stats, and items that they collected, whole Myriad Arrows took in all of the items and confirmed their numbers.
On an average, the groups collected fifteen thousand beaks each, but they were not worth nearly as much as they were when Jake and Myriad Arrows first sold them to the merchant.
"Good. You all have done exceptionally. Bar three people, everyone else has gotten to level fifteen or higher. I am impressed." Jake smiled as he looked at three different groups, where the people in question were, making them so tense that they could have gotten a heart attack!
"Don't worry. This is the first time, so you should have it easy right?" Jake smiled, looking at them.
They finally relaxed, sighing with relief.
"Why don't you guys stay here and grind until you get to level sixteen then? You can stay in the guild as long as you stay here and grind for another half a day. You can form a party with just the three of you." Jake smiled and said.
But his smile was no longer considered one of compassion. This was the devil's smile. After two whole days of grinding, who had the energy to grind a little more, especially when everyone was done?
"Now then, you are all a part of the guild. I am sure that many of you are disgruntled. Two whole days of nothing to do, you all must be very angry. Who wants to leave? I will give you the chance to leave right now." Jake announced.
His sudden words confused everyone. Was this guild master asking everyone to leave? What was this? Who would want to leave already?
They looked at each other, and they all remained silent.
"Good, I will take that as a no from everyone? Then we should get to the good part. Every group has done a wonderful job, and now, it is time for you to reap the rewards. Please, do you think that I expect all of my precious guild members to live off a measly hundred silver a month?" Jake chuckled.
All of a sudden, a rejuvenated hope appeared in the eyes of the guild members. Was the guild leader finally throwing them some scraps?
"Well, the market rate now is around one silver for fifty beaks. That is around three hundred silver for each group. Well then, each member can take home thirty silver then. I will exchange these beaks for the silver and send each guild member the money later today." Jake announced.
"Wait, what?" finally the silence of the guild members broke.
They murmured, wondering if they heard it wrong.
But they didn't. What they heard was the same and it seemed so untrue. Their guild master was willing to give each one of them thirty silvers? He was willing to let go of ninety gold coins for his guild members?
They roared, the sounds of these hundreds reaching the other end of the silversword fields.
Everyone was overjoyed.
