Chapter 5 Fox Hunter

Jake sieved through the many swords that lay there. He had to pick the one that was best suited for him.

It was not necessarily the strongest one with the best stats. In his opinion, the one that was the best weight, and the best height would go a long way in helping him.

He picked one up and twirled it around himself. The sword danced in his hands. It felt only natural to him to be using this sword.

"I will take this one," he said.

"Ten thousand strikes may make you feel acquainted with the sword, familiar even. But the journey is long. You must not be overconfident. You have much to learn." Richard said.

Jake felt a little weird. This was not like an NPC was giving a quest. It was like a real person was giving him his life's understanding.

Even though he had been in missions and special quests before, this was just different. It was like the NPC in front of him was more animated than the others.

But he put that aside for now. Taking this sword he headed out of the hut.

A lot of newcomers were out there, striking the dummies. They saw Jake come out of the hut, and they were shocked.

"Who is this person? He came out of the sword master's hut? I thought that the hut was out of bounds?" one person shouted.

Jake glanced at the username of the person who spoke. Blue Trumpet here was just too interested in things that did not concern him.

But it was not Jake's job to tell others what he was doing. Instead, he walked past the training field and headed to the forest that lay ahead.

None entered the forest. It was a place where one would be guaranteed to die. The rabbits were found on the outskirts, and many of them even came onto the training field.

But the foxes were never like that. Jake knew that. So, he headed straight to the forest.

There were a few people who were hunting rabbits here as well. There were many who thought that they could just grind continuously here in the tutorial village with the rabbits so that they could grow stronger.

They were wrong, of course, but they didn't know that.

Jake chuckled as he continued along to the forest.

"How does he have a sword made of iron? We all have swords made out of wood! This is unfair!" one of the players noticed.

They all knew that an iron sword was very useful, and they just couldn't bear it that someone else had one.

"Hello friend. Can you tell me how you were able to obtain an iron sword?" one of the players approached Jake and asked him.

"Me? I just asked nicely with a smile." Jake replied as he continued walking towards the forest.

"Are you joking? Trying to mess with me? Do you know who I am? My brother is a guild member of the Iron Tigers guild. Soon, I will also become a member of the guild. Do you think that you can offend me?" he said coldly.

"You think too much of yourself. A guild that will get swallowed in three months is not something that I want to concern myself with." Jake chuckled and stepped foot on the rough grass.

Rabbits were abundant here, but there was another scene here that interested Jake and any onlooker.

Deeper into the forest was the carcass of a rabbit, and on top of the rabbit was a fox, feasting on it.

This was the only game that did something like that. It perfectly captured nature itself. And the fox glared back at Jake.

Growling, it bared its fangs.

"Come!" Jake shouted as he pointed his sword at the fox.

The fox pounced at Jake. But Jake was ready. He swung the sword down with all his force.

[-26 HP]

A red glow appeared above the fox. Jake was able to see the HP bar of the fox. It barely moved at all! Even with a sword in his hands, a fox was very high leveled. That was why no one was stupid enough to hunt one in the tutorial village.

Instead, they would level up with the rabbits.

But once again, Jake had the knowledge of the previous world. He was akin to a pro gamer in this new world. He knew all weaknesses and knew how to evade every attack.

Because this was a world simulating the real one, it put particular emphasis on skills. The way that one could maneuver his or her body would be key.

The fox almost grazed Jake's body, but he moved at the right moment, and struck the sword right between the eyes.

[Critical Hit!]

[-200 HP]

Finally, a chunk of damage was done.

Just one graze of the fox was probably enough to take out half his HP bar. He had to be very careful here.

The battle continued. Jake continued dodging the attacks and continued swinging his sword at the fox in a singular action.

It was just one attack over and over again.

Soon enough, the fox was able to dodge these attack as well. The foxes also had some primary intelligence, and this one was getting used to his attacks.

Jake predicted this, and the moment that the fox dodged to the right, Jake's sword came crashing down at its forehead.

[Critical Hit!]

[-325 HP]

The fox suddenly stopped moving and fell onto the ground. Then, it pixilated, and vanished into the air.

[Killed Fox. 523 exp acquired

1x Fox leather acquired

1x Fox fang acquired

1x Fox claw acquired]

The message popped up, and Jake finally fell on the ground with relief.

Just one fox was this hard to beat. Now, he had ninety nine more to go.
