Chapter 281 Deja Vu

Jake smiled as he glanced at the opponent that he was facing.

His legs relaxed as he swayed to the side, bringing his sword to defend.

Clang!

A thin sword appeared right next to Jake, threatening to strike him down. Only Jake's sword stood between the thin sword and his waist.

On the other end of the thin sword was a thin man, crouching down to attain the angle that he was in.

"Players in the second arena… I have spent too long away from the colosseum." Jake shook his head and sighed.

He moved forward and his sword moved with him.

"Despairing Strike!"

He struck down and his sword didn't face any resistance this time around.

[Winner: Shadow King From Bright Horizon]

Jake looked up at the box that was showing the results.

"Since the update they started to display the guild name as well. Well, any publicity is good publicity." Jake shrugged as he walked back to one end of the arena.

This was his second fight in the second arena, and surprisingly, there were players matched up with him, not NPCs.

"I shouldn't be underestimating the players. There are people here who dedicate their whole life to excelling at one thing. Be it the colosseum, or something else." Jake reminded himself.

He took a deep breath and looked at the turning box.

The box was turning rapidly, and with every turn of the box, there was a new face on the screen.

This was the collection of NPCs that this particular arena had. One of them would be matched up against Jake.

Ding!

The box stopped moving, and a shadow fell from the box down to the opposite side of the arena.

Thud!

Jake looked closely at the new arrival.

"Ah! Deja Vu!"

Jake shook his head as he looked at his new opponent.

Her shining steel armor had a golden hue that told him that she was a Paladin. And that brought back memories.

"Losing against her wasn't all bad." Jake chuckled as he thought about what had occurred that day.

"She looks the same as well. Who knows? Maybe she was supposed to be in the second arena that time around as well?" Jake thought to himself as he brought his sword to its resting state.

The paladin looked down at him and frowned.

"You… I have faced you before…" she muttered.

"How is it that you have become this strong in so little time? Shocking! Heaven Defiers truly are Heaven Defiers." She sighed and moved her giant sword.

The paladin's sword was as tall as the woman herself, and the woman was a staggering six feet three inches tall.

The box above the two started counting down to the start of the battle.

Jake looked at the top of the paladin's head.

[Paladin Clara: Level 78]

"This is going to be a long match ahead of me. Almost double my level. She is in the third tier." He thought to himself as he shook his head.

This was going to be a tough match, that was for sure.

Readying himself, he looked up.

Just as he did, the box turned one final time, and then, the sweet sound of the start of the match resounded in the whole arena.

And the moment it did, a resounding cheer from around them also appeared.

Jake smiled, and immediately, he moved.

He knew that he couldn't afford to take even a single attack from this monster in front of him.

Just one attack would be enough to wipe out his health.

And the problem with facing a paladin was very clear. She was sure to have skills that could heal her. She was going to have incredible health and defense stats.

Her attack was probably the weakest part of her arsenal, and even that was enough to kill him in one move.

"These Epic Classes really are something. I wonder how someone can go against this monstrosity without a legendary class?" Jake thought to himself as he moved swiftly.

His sword clanged as he stopped for a brief moment behind the paladin.

Almost immediately, he moved to make some space before he would be swept by that gigantic sword of hers.

"And she also has some good battle sense. What are the odds of that?" He shook his head.

Once again, he moved.

This was going to take time, but time was all that he had.

He didn't come here just to win a few games and get some experience. He had other interests in mind.

"She's a paladin right? There is no way that she would agree to it. I have to win this one myself." Jake thought to himself as he appeared in front of her this time.

His sword slashed forward with incredible speed as it hit her strong armor.

[-122 HP]

"Damn, you have got to be kidding me. This is going to take forever!" He shook his head as he propelled himself back as quickly as he appeared.

The Paladin, meanwhile, didn't panic. She didn't make any erratic movements just because her opponent was fast.

She just looked at Jake calmly as he appeared a few dozen feet in front of her.

"Is this all that a Knight of Sin has got in his arsenal? A few scratches?" Her mouth curled up to a smile.

"This knight of sin crap again. I will find an NPC myself and try to dig out what all of that means." Jake shook his head and moved again.

This time, he moved forward once again, his eyes glued not to his opponent, but rather, his opponent's sword.

The moment it moved, he did as well.

He darted to the side, and saw the sword move to where he was supposed to be.

"Finally. She isn't perfect."

Jake sighed and his sword shone with a blue brilliance.

"Slash of Thirst!"
