Chapter 278 End of the Expedition
Chapter 278 End of the Expedition
Myriad Arrows and Kierch looked at each other. They had a faint smile on their face as they looked to the side.
Their spoil was sitting on top of a large pile of monster carcasses that refused to disappear, seemingly for a theatre effect.
Both of them looked at the retreating monster tide, knowing that the death of the horde's leader changed the tides of the battle.
"Looks like Shadow King has some questions to answer when he comes back. And he better be giving me those gloves." Kierch looked at the drops that were visible even though the pile of monsters didn't disappear.
The rest of the guilds had survived the battle, but barely.
And yet, they seemed to be looking up?
Confused, Myriad Arrows and Kierch glanced at the sky as well.
[The Beast Kingdom's doors have been broken into. The wall has fallen, and you have entered the final section of your siege.
The Kingdom's troops shall retreat back and ready themselves to face you. Prepare for war.]
"The doors have been broken into? The wall has fallen? Did someone in our fight go all the way to the wall?" Myriad Arrows didn't understand what had happened.
But as Myriad Arrows and Kierch looked at each other, a unison thought appeared in their minds.
"Shadow King." They said at the exact same time as they both shook their heads.
"I should have known he was behind this when I couldn't contact him. He was in a boss area, no doubt." Myriad Arrows sighed.
"A battle that I would have enjoyed. A pity that the boss is long gone." Kierch shook his head.
"What the hell did your guild master do?" A sharp voice told them that someone was beside them.
Myriad Arrows turned his head to look at the beautiful young woman with a quick temper.
"I don't know. I was here with you." He shrugged as he looked at Phoenix.
By now, spending so long with the guild and with Jake, he was no longer that shy youth that blushed when Phoenix played around with him.
"You should start collecting the loot and maybe cataloguing now. Get all of it together so that we can go near the wall and see what is happening." Kierch slowly said as he looked down at the items that dropped from the horde's boss.
With the rest of the monsters retreating, they no longer had all the loot that they expected.
But everyone did manage to kill thousands of monsters, if not more.
"Whatever. That Shadow King better have a good reason for why he went behind out back and took care of this boss." Phoenix grit her teeth and turned back.
Meanwhile, Myriad Arrows and Kierch had long dismissed her presence and shifted their attention to the loot that had dropped.
There was enough volume that whatever was within wouldn't be visible.
"This is going to be a pain to look at. Eventually, we should be able to delegate all of this manual work to some guild elder or treasurer or something." Myriad Arrows sighed and said.
He bent down and touched the first thing in the pile.
Almost instantly, the giant pile of monsters behind the loot disappeared into nothingness, and gave the two a clear view of what loot had dropped,
With more space to work with in this now, spacious gathering, he looked at the first item in the pile.
"Some normal item. I should just throw all of the normal items aside." Myriad Arrows quickly started quick sorting his way into the pile.
When he dismissed all of the normal items and every rare item that was remotely uninteresting, he was left with less than a third of the original pile of items.
Now, he could look at the small selection of a few dozen items with ease.
"Nice. An Epic."
He picked up a set of daggers and chucked them into his inventory.
"There are quite a few epics in here. Maybe two or three for each guild. We should select three good ones before they start crying about item selection." he sighed and said.
As he was going through the items, he could see a few items that he didn't recognize. Never mind all of the epic grade materials that could be useful later, he could see a few items without a grade.
They weren't materials or weapons. Instead, they seemed to be auxiliary weapons that could be of some use.
He looked at a ring that was unnoticeable at first, but upon closer glance, revealed its ungraded nature.
[Ring of ?????
Grade: Unknown

"This is definitely interesting." He mused.
In the mean time, Kierch glanced at the three epic items that he knew were going to be interesting to someone in the guild, and handed them to Myriad Arrows.
He wasn't going to be inventorying anything for the guild. He did not want any part of guild management, and freedom was the only reason he accepted Jake's offer to join Bright Horizon.
"Well, this expedition is getting way too routine for some reason. I feel like we are reaching a point where they are recycling monsters." Kierch made a quick note as he looked at another item that piqued his interest.
"And what is with this volume of unknown grade items? People would spend so many on these collector items." He chuckled.
"And if you sell any of them to those collectors, I will personally kill you." A voice came from the back.
"Shadow King." He nodded as he didn't even turn.
"Where were you?"
"Well, you must have gotten that notification. Wow, looks like a blood bath around here. What happened?" Jake looked around and saw blood stains on the ground.
"Wow. You didn't even know. You should learn to check your messages more." Myriad Arrows shook his head.
"Not a fan." Jake smiled.
