Chapter 129 - The Strange Train

Chapter 129: The Strange Train

The conversation between Lawrence and Rosetti was still going on…

“It can’t be? Alpha Federation University and the Advanced Military Academy has ranked under us for nearly 30 years…” Rosetti could not believe Lawrence’s words.

Noticing that his food tray was empty, Lawrence pressed the button to call for Dora. Soon after, Lawrence’s food tray was refilled.

Lawrence continued, “That’s just a facade. The other two universities have been coming after us with all their might. Moreover, after the disappearance of our experts, the strength of our academy has suffered a great blow.”

“We’re just famous… Famous, that’s all,” Lawrence said with a practiced expression, then, he suddenly realized the inappropriateness of his words just now. He immediately turned his face to look at the smiling Locke, he said, “Captain! Don’t worry too much! I’m just talking about the big picture! With your strength, you’ll be an expert-level existence even in the entire Federation!”

“It’s fine, I don’t care. You guys continue to chat…” Locke never cared about fame[1]. He only wanted to obtain more strength.

Rosetti frowned and asked, “Then… Are our opponents this time experts?”

Lawrence nodded firmly.

“Sigh! This is going to be a tough fight…” Rosetti pouted and laid back onto the soft recliner.

“It’s okay, as long as we have Locke, it won’t be a problem! I’m very confident about this! Moreover, the prize this time is quite rare!” Lawrence revealed a sly smile.

Locke’s interest was piqued. He motioned for the other party to continue.

“It’s a Dragon Core! The crystallization of a dragon’s soul!”

Upon hearing Lawrence’s words, Rosetti immediately shot up from her seat.

She exclaimed, “Oh my God! Are you serious? That’s a real treasure! It’s extremely rare!”

Locke did not think much of it. “What’s the big deal? Don’t they often sell things related to dragons on the black market?”

Rosetti shook her head, “No, captain… The things dragon-based items from the black market usually come from dragon-like Daemons. They aren’t actually dragons, it’s just a ploy from the merchants to increase their sales. True dragons are extremely rare…”

Locke realized that this girl was very familiar with the situation on the black market. More importantly, however, Locke had gained some valuable knowledge.

Soon after, the topic between the two students became more and more devious, and they started to gossip about the instructors and students.

Locke, who was not interested in these things, laid back down again. He lowered the curtains on his window, and under the faint fragrance of the train, Locke gradually fell asleep.

The train only traveled to one destination, and as such, it made no stops in between.

By the time Locke had awoken, he noticed that it was already past midnight.

Lawrence’s snoring were like thunderclaps, and it was his snoring that had snapped Locke out of his reverie.

Meanwhile, Rosetti was fast asleep and she was unaffected by Lawrence’s snoring.

He stretched his body and prepared to go to the bathroom.

Although it was a luxury carriage, the bathroom was located in another carriage.

Locke was surprised to find that there was not a single passenger on the train!

When he came out of the washroom, he saw the attendant Dora waiting for him with a square towel not far away.

“Mr. Locke, I’m at your service at any time…” Her beautiful smile was as soothing as always.

After taking the towel, Locke glanced at Dora a few times. After passing by her, he walked to the front of the high-end carriage and stopped.

“This is a high-end towel. It has already been sterilized. Please don’t worry…” Dora quickly said when she realized that Locke did not use a towel.

However, the corner of Locke’s mouth curled into a smile.

“Forget it. I won’t be using this towel. Otherwise, I might fall asleep again…”

Dora’s expression suddenly became nervous. “Sir… What do you mean by this?”

Locke immediately summoned his Infinite Fire Element and a mere second later, it had already transformed into a sword that was launched towards Dora!

Dora was very alert and she dodged it elegantly.

When she got up again, her voice had become a man’s voice. Her eyes were fierce as she glared at Locke and asked, “How did you find out?”

Locke leaned against the door of the carriage, “To be honest, your disguise is not bad. Unfortunately, you seem to have neglected the part of height. Or rather, you have no way to hide your height. You are at most 1.6 meters, and Dora’s height is at least 1.65 meters…”

It was to be expected of Locke. After all it was normal for men to inspect beautiful women properly.

The fake Dora smiled. “Hehehe… I really underestimated the Federal Academy. To think that there’s a smart student in their midst…”

After saying that, his figure began to change. In a few breaths, a middle-aged man who was less than 1.6 meters tall appeared before Locke’s eyes.

“Holy f*ck! So why are you so wretched-looking? You even pretended to be a beauty!” Locke was a little angry.

The middle-aged man smiled and immediately changed into a couple beautiful women’s faces. He changed his voice, “Then what type do you like?”

Looking at the beautiful woman’s face coupled with his disgusting figure, Locke almost vomited.

He immediately ordered his fire elemental to strike his opponent.

However, the middle-aged man nimbly dodged them.

“Hahaha! Kid, I was just teasing you. Don’t be angry!”

Locke realized that the other party was not an easy foe. Locke was certain that he was a Beastmaster, but Locke could not detect his opponent’s Battle Beast.

“My two classmates were also drugged by you, right?” Locke threw a towel with a faint floral scent into the trash can.

The middle-aged man crossed his arms and responded, “You’re very sharp! The smell flowery fragrance of the air conditioner is very soothing, right? If I didn’t realize that you were awake, I wouldn’t have appeared with the towel, and I wouldn’t have been exposed!”

No wonder everyone slept so soundly. It turned out that the air conditioner had emitted sleeping gas.

Locke was thankful for his vigilance and Lawrence’s loud snoring.

“Tell me, what do you want? I just woke up, and I have no intention to fight.” Locke yawned, he was still drowsy.

“Locke, we’ve been observing you for a long time. If you’re willing to join Alpha Federal University, our higher-ups will provide you with the rarest ancient tomes and techniques. You can choose from all the resources at our disposal! If you agree to join, then I’ll spare your life.”
