With My Profound Love, I Offer to the Years

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

I stand in the abyss, and no one can save me. —Shen Nian

At the hospital, the queues for registration stretched long across several lines. Although it was a weekday, the hospital was still filled with quite a number of patients who needed to register for a consultation. The environment was somewhat noisy.

In a certain corner, a figure was hidden inconspicuously among the motley crowd. The professional OL suit she wore showed off her good figure and competent and steady style.

She sat on the long bench in the hospital hallway, slightly bending over with both hands casually resting on her knees, her fingers gently pinching the fabric of her skirt over her knees.

Head lowered, silent.

Her tranquility seemed out of place in the noisy hospital.

"Patient number 23, Shen Nian, please enter consultation room 5."

Hearing the mechanized voice calling her number, Shen Nian finally raised her head. She picked up her bag that was next to her and headed into consultation room 5.

She handed the medical reports to the doctor and sat down. The doctor looked through the results and said, "The fetus is 7 weeks now and developing well, congratulations."

"...," Shen Nian did not speak.

The doctor asked again, "Are you married? Have you had a miscarriage before? Do you have any gynecological diseases?"

Having asked three questions without getting any response, the doctor looked up to glance at the young girl. Shen Nian looked very young.

The doctor immediately checked the name and age on the report as well.

Shen Nian, 22 years old.

Already an adult.

Judging from her attire, she should be a company white-collar worker and did not seem like an unlearned girl either.

This was probably her first pregnancy and she was a little stunned.

So the doctor patiently told her, "You need to inform me of your physical condition. Only then can I..."

"No."

The soft voice interrupted the doctor's words. It was a very nice female voice.

Shen Nian looked up, staring at the doctor as she slowly enunciated each word, "I don't want this child."

The nice voice contained a tremor, but the words spoken were decisive.

The doctor was taken aback for a moment before regaining her composure.

"Even if you don't want the child, you still need to provide your medical history."

The doctor asked the questions again. "Have you been pregnant before and had a miscarriage? Do you have any gynecological diseases? Why do you want an abortion? Are you married?"

This time, the doctor asked about her marital status last. After asking all the questions, she added,

"You need to sign for the abortion. You can't keep silent. Don't delay the consultations of others queuing behind you..."

"I'm not married and I don't have any gynecological diseases."

Shen Nian's long eyelashes quivered. Her memories were instantly pulled back several years and her lips seemed to be carrying a thousand pounds of iron that was difficult to move even an inch.

"I was pregnant once before and miscarried..."

The doctor understood and continued asking, "Is it convenient to share why you miscarried?"

"It's convenient," Shen Nian replied.

The doctor asked her several more questions which Shen Nian answered.

From beginning to end, her face did not show any extra expression. Having been a doctor for many years and seen countless pregnant women, the doctor had witnessed those who were overjoyed and weeping with happiness over their child, as well as those who were ruthless and decisive in their grief over not wanting the child.

One so quiet like her... was a first.

From the moment she entered, there was barely any change in her emotions. Other than answering questions, there was just endless silence. Even the air was permeated with an oppressive atmosphere.

Although unaware of what she went through, the doctor still followed procedure and said, "Since you're unmarried, you'll need your guardian or boyfriend to sign. Should I call your parents or boyfriend?"

"My parents passed away in a car accident when I was 17," Shen Nian flatly interrupted. "I broke up with my boyfriend."

Having said that, she finally raised her head to look at the doctor again. "Can I sign by myself?"

The doctor was rendered speechless for a moment before answering, "You can."

She opened the drawer next to her and took out a piece of paper, pushing it towards Shen Nian. "This is the waiver declaring that you voluntarily give up custody of the fetus. I can only arrange surgery for you after you sign."

Shen Nian picked up the pen without reading what was written. Her gaze fell directly on the signature line at the bottom.

She had only managed three drops of ink when her hand started trembling uncontrollably.

Shen Nian's lips quivered slightly. She gripped the pen tightly and signed her whole name in one breath before pushing the waiver back to the doctor. "Thank you."

Her tone remained light and indifferent throughout. The doctor glanced at her again but did not say anything. She issued a surgery order for Shen Nian.

Shen Nian had not eaten anything yesterday, so she could undergo a painless abortion. The surgery was scheduled for this afternoon, lasting barely an hour.

She was still dazed from the anesthesia when pushed out into the ward. The nurse helped move her into the hospital bed.

Shen Nian did not know how long it was before she finally opened her eyes. She did not move but stared blankly at the ceiling. Having just undergone surgery, there was still a slight pain in her abdomen.

Her phone in her bag vibrated. Shen Nian languidly regained her senses and pulled open her bag's zipper to take out her phone.

She glanced at the contact and swiped the screen before putting it by her ear.

"Ling Ling, what's the matter?"

An anxious voice came from the other end. "Sis Nian, where are you?"

Shen Nian lowered her eyes. "I have something going on today. I'm not at the company now."

There was an ah from the other end. "But there's a very important business dinner tonight. This investor is extremely important to our company. Boss Lu specifically asked for you to accompany him..."

"..." Shen Nian was silent for a few seconds. "I see."

After hanging up the call, she put her phone back into her bag and got out of bed.

There was a slight pain in her abdomen when she moved. She held her belly as she arduously left the ward.

Lu Lingchuan was just coming down from upstairs when Shen Nian arrived at the company. He was exceptionally well-dressed today in a black checked suit and matching designer tie. The diamond tie clip added a touch of charm. His leather shoes were polished to a shine. Tall and graceful, he had an elegant and noble air.

His well-defined features were handsome, yet his expression was aloof with no smile.

Hearing the sound of the door, Lu Lingchuan glanced up.

Shen Nian got out of the taxi and tidied her attire before walking towards Lu Lingchuan in high heels, stopping about a meter away.

"Boss Lu." She bowed her head slightly, attitude deferential.

Lu Lingchuan gave her an indifferent look before opening the car door and getting in without a word.

Shen Nian shut the door then went around to the other side to get into the passenger seat.

Today's business discussion was arranged at a high-end 5-star hotel.

Lu Lingchuan had been personally overseeing this project from the start, taking it very seriously. The other party seemed aware of their intentions and remained stubborn in holding out for maximum benefits.

The two parties met in the designated private room. They shook hands on meeting.

"Nice to meet you, Boss Lu. I've long heard of your youth and capability. And indeed you are just as so! Haha..."

Unlike Lu Lingchuan and Shen Nian on this side who looked young and easy to bully, the other party comprised fully of mature men in their thirties and forties with shrewd, calculating looks.
