Chapter 146: Die is Good
*Gasp, gasp, gasp...*
Zandel fell to the floor like a dead log. His body simply couldn't take another step, and he couldn't even bother to pay attention to his buttocks appearing. He was zapped there by Linfel so many times that he didn't even know if he still had everything there.
Kefin wasn't much better. As a Familiar, he only had his core... However, the Green Color that demonstrated its Level Four was gone. All one could see was a charred, black core. He was even worse than Nori at using his Magic Channels, courtesy of a life dedicated to Leveling Up nonstop.
"M...Master... W-why are we doing... this?" Kefin couldn't help but ask, not sure if it was all worth it.
Zandel bitterly smiled. If he had known that the training he would go through was something like this, he probably wouldn't have accepted. That wasn't all. At some point, he really got angry and trying to give up. Unfortunately, Linfel completely rejected his request, saying that if he stopped running, he would make sure he wouldn't be allowed to take a single Magic Control Test anymore.
Zandel highly doubted Linfel could really do it. That would be going against the rules. However, he also remembered how the Ventis Sect got a luxurious house for Linfel just a few weeks after he arrived on the planet, all because Linfel was that necessary. Perhaps... the Ventis Sect would think it was better to sacrifice Zandel to make sure they kept Linfel.
And so, he continued run, run, and run even more. Now, he was almost dead, and so was his Familiar.
Linfel approached him, nodding in satisfaction. "That's good. A very nice smell of cooked meat, or cooked buttocks, for that matter."
Zandel wanted to cry. "You are a familiar. You can't even smell things!"
"Wrong!" Linfel immediately denied it. "A familiar can smell things as long as they know how to use their magic Energy to interact with the environment. If you don't believe me, check your MCOM."
"Its... It's true... Master," Kefin confirmed Linfel's words. "I saw it being mentioned in the Ventis Sect network while I gathered information about our new life here. However, that was supposed to be something you can only do at Level Six or higher..."
"Wrong again!" Linfel cut him off. "The reason it only happens at Level Six is because it is around that time a Familiar gets a high enough Magic Energy Control to achieve this effect. I, on the other hand, already have it. Do you think they exempted me from the test just because I was a little better than other Familiars? No!
I was exempt because I absolutely can trash any other familiar at similar levels. And that's the kind of Magic Energy Control that I'm drilling into your bodies."
Zandel and kefin went silent. They didn't have much energy to move anyway.
Alvin approached, scratching the back of his head while rubbing his buttocks as well. He wasn't zapped anywhere as much as Zandel, but he was still punished a few times on the way. Linfel's Sparta supervision was all-encompassing. Milia even went behind a tree to change her pants since they were also full of holes due to Linfel's Lightning Attacks.
"Here, take it," Alvin spoke.
Zandel raised his head and saw a new pair of pants. "Th-Thank you... Seems like you came prepared."
Milia arrived right after, now with new pants, nodding at Zandel. "We spent almost a hundred Ventis Credits buying new pants and underwear. We will probably need a new pair every day from now on. Don't worry. We knew it was going to happen, so we have plenty for you as well."
Zandel finally got a little bit of energy back and slowly got up. "I... I will change. Give me a moment." Just like Mlia, he also went to a hidden corner and only came back after changing his destroyed pants and underwear.
Linfel looked at all of that and didn't seem to care. "Hmph! Be happy I'm being lenient. If it was a certain friend of mine from the past, you wouldn't even have clothes anymore by the time he finished with you at the end of the day." Linfel wasn't lying. Horan was indeed that much Sparta than him.
He continued. "In any case, you are just like Alvin and Milia were back then, absolutely terrible physical strength."
"I spent my life trying to reach Level Four before the exam," Zandel explained. "Anything physically related before it, I compensated by circulating more Magic Energy through my body. I don't regret it since I indeed managed to join the Ventis Sect with Kefin."
Linfel nodded. "And you shouldn't. You had a plan in mind; you were young, and you still got through it. There is nothing wrong with that. However, now that I'm in charge, I will beat the hell of your body and Kefin's core to extract every single IOTA of potential. Physical training also strengthens the Magic Channels, so you will gain a lot from this, even if you don't see it now."
Right after, Linfel accessed his Spatial Storage and took out the food Zandel had prepared before they left. "Anyway, time to eat. Make sure to stuff everything down."
Alvin and Milia's eyes lit up. They had been waiting for this. "Finally!"
Zandel, however, found it hard to feel hungry. It was a normal condition when someone had just started physical training to such an extent for the first time. However, Alvin warned him. "Eat, even if you have to force it down, and try to keep it inside at all costs. Believe me! You will regret it if you don't recover your energy."
Milia nodded vigorously, feeling a little scared when she remembered her first days. "Regret is an understatement..." She quickly shook her head right after, trying to push those memories away.
Linfel ignored that and checked everyone's bodies more carefully while they ate or recovered their Magic Energy in the Familiar's cases. "Alright, here's the report of the first day. Well, truth be told, it was all about Magic Channel Control today, so there isn't much I can add other than that you are getting better with it.
Naturally, the level of difficulty to each of your is based on your actual level. So, Alvin is having the hardest training together with me. Milia and Nori are having the second hardest, while Zandel and Kefin are just starting the basics. I will check how you do tomorrow and adjust your steps accordingly."
Zandel looked at Linfel, who seemed completely fine. Was Linfel really training at all? And having the hardest type of training? He found it hard to believe. 'If he is, then he is even more of a monster than I thought...'
Night fell, and their group found a hotel to stay. They weren't passing through any Magic Beast territories, so the trip was relatively safe... as long as a Killer didn't appear, of course. Nonetheless, Killers were rare in the Magic Beast Territories, so outside them, it was even harder to find one.
The next day, Alvin, Nori, and Milia got up early and waited outside. Linfel was already there, hidden in a corner not too far from the entrance, controlling four different blades of elements. Fire, Lightning, Wing, and Water. They couldn't see it, but he was adding his Soul Power to each one of them.
Zandel and Kefin arrived a few minutes later, and the shock in their eyes was easy for anyone to see. "Four elements at once?!"
Alvin and Milia patted his shoulder. "Ignore him. Trust us; it is for the good of your own mental health."

Linfel then stopped using his Magic Energy and Soul Power, and the blades vanished. "So you are all here. Because Zandel was new, I took it easy during the first day. That is not gonna happen today, though. So..."
*Bang, bang, bang!*
Three bags weighing 70, 60, and 40kg, respectively, fell to the ground. "Put them on your backs. Since we don't have Magic Beasts to fight, there is no need to worry about sudden developments. We will run at 30% more speed today as well."
Zandel trembled all over. "I... I will not last..."
"Good!" Linfel nodded. "Remember, if you think your are going to die, then the training is going according to the plan. Alvin, the bag with 70kg. Milia, the bag with 60kg. And Zandel, the bag with 40kg. Today, Alvin has to alternate between three sets of five Magic Channels every fifteen seconds.
Milia and Zandel will do it with ten Magic Channels. Nori and Kefin will use three sets of seven."
*Bzzzzz!*
Then, several arcs of lightning began to dance around Linfel. "Now, run! I'll be right behind, making sure you will have to wear a new pair of pants and underwear by the end of the day."
