Chapter 119: I'm Clueless
The moment Milia destroyed one of the monsters, several images began to appear in the surroundings. Images from her life in the Frondor Family. Alvin looked at that and recognized the man in one of the images. 'It's Lutian Frondor, Milia's father...'
"Do not shame the Family. Train well and level up..."
"You are our bargaining chip for future alliances. Make sure to keep yourself clean..."
"Do I look like I have time for such academy activities? Stop wasting my time..."
Milia continued to kill the monsters. The more she got rid of, the more images of her time in the Frondor Family appeared. Her father, mothers, the elders of the family...
"You have some talent. Perhaps you can stay in the family instead of being married off..."
"Floating Blades Faction? Why would you waste your time in such a useless Faction? Whatever! As long as you don't shame the family, that's enough..."
"Sigh... why do you have to be a woman? If your older brother had your talent, our family would have a proper successor..."
"*Pah!* Move! Who said you can rest? Your father is counting on you to find a proper suitor willing to become a member of our family. You must be good enough to attract someone worthy of the position!"
Alvin then looked at Milia and the tears coming from her eyes. At first, she did destroy the monsters because of Alvin's threat. Now, however, she destroyed them out of her own volution. Alvin couldn't help but sigh seeing that. 'So that's what she meant back then when she said her father probably couldn't care less about her. She was basically an object to her Frondor Family.'
Suddenly, one of the monsters sneaked behind Milia and tried to bite her.
*Kabrum!*
However, a bolt of lightning came out of nowhere, destroying it even faster than Milia. "Hey, Milia, is that your family? You humans truly have some weird tastes. By the way, did you find a suitor in the end?"
Milia's expression darkened as she destroyed another monster. "Fuck them all! Who the hell wants to marry someone they have never seen before?"
*Bang!*
Another monster died, but this time, it was Alvin who destroyed. "Obviously! You will marry me and no one else. They can all go to hell!"
Milia couldn't help but grow red. "I... I haven't said anything about marrying you!"
Linfel agreed. "She is right, Alvin. Procreation is a serious topic. She is still looking for the best genes."
"Your ass!" Milia tried to kick Linfel instead. Too bad Linfel was much faster than her, even in her dream. "I don't even know if I will choose someone yet. Don't make decisions for me!"
The moment she said her last words, the dark environment began to light up.
Alvin smiled, knowing that his plan worked. He looked at Milia, who seemed startled by the sudden change. "That's more like it. That was your mental hurdle. Your life was basically determined by your family, never your choices. Even after you left Heffal and got a new identity with Linfel's help, their shadow still lingered in your mind."
Milia felt those words resonating with her soul. Then, she noticed the monsters became lethargic. They could barely keep their forms. At that moment, Milia felt like she understood something.
Alvin moved ahead, ready to destroy another one. However, Milia immediately jumped in front of him, blocking his path. "No need."
Milia walked forward and let the monster come to her. Yet, to Alvin and Linfel's surprise, she didn't defend against it, nor did she attack. The monster pounced at her, and Milia simply let it bite her. An expression of pain appeared on Milia's face, but she bore it and still didn't attack the monster. Instead, she moved her free head and patted its ugly head. "It is okay; they are not here anymore.
We have a new family, a real family, so it is fine now."
After saying those words, the monster head in the little girl's body began to change. Slowly, the monster features disappeared, and another little Milia appeared, crying.
Milia put the girl down and continued to pat her head. "Look."
The little Milia stopped biting the big one and looked in the direction Milia was pointing at. Through Milia's own wishes, the image of the people in the Floating Blades Faction appeared in that space, right beside Linfel and Alvin. That was her dream, so if she wished, she could make them appear. It was now a lucid dream.
Alvin and Linfel recognized everyone but didn't say anything. They just waited.
Milia seemed happy as she explained to little Milia. "They had always been there. We just haven't noticed them before."
"But..." the little Milia spoke as the various other monsters in the surroundings slowly lost their monster faces. They all became different versions of little Milia. "But father... the family... our duty..."
The real Milia shook her head. "They are most likely out there, somewhere. You and I know that the war in Heffal wouldn't be enough to wipe out our family. However, it matters not because calling them family is wrong. We already have a real family, and it is not father, nor the Frondor family members. If they ever come after us one day, we can say with pride that we don't need them."
"Truly...?" The little Milia asked, a little more hopeful.
"Of course!" Milia confirmed with conviction. "Who do you think we are? We are Milia Frondor, we have Nori, we are the best! Who needs them?"
Milai then looked straight at the little Milia. "Do we need them?"
The little Milia wiped her tears and shook her head. "No!"
"Exactly!" Milia nodded. "It took us some time to understand, but we do now. We don't need anyone! We can soar through the skies on our own and Nori!"
"Yes!" the Little Milia answered. "We definitely can! Right, everyone?!" She looked behind, and all the little Milia spoke at the same time. "Yes! We Can!"
The environment finally lit up completely, giving a warm feeling to Alvin and Linfel.
The real Milia sighed in relief and got up. "Right... I can do it on my own... I always could..."
However, at that moment, all the Little Milias ran in Linfel and Alvin's direction, much to Milia, Linfel, and Alvin's surprise. Then, several of them hugged Alvin while several other pulled his hands. "However, we want him! We absolutely want him! We are not giving him to anyone else!"
Milia's expression turned even redder. She wanted nothing more than to throw her head in hole. "Is... Is that what my subconscious really thinks?"
*Crack, crack, crack...*
Finally, the mental world began to fall, and the dream reached its last moments.
Alvin and Linfel looked at each other, satisfied. "Guess this dream is over..."
"A dream..." Milia calmed down as the many little Milias disappeared one after another. "So it was all truly a dream, uh? Good, good... I would kill myself if Alvin truly had seen all of this."
Alvin and Linfel were taken aback. However, before they could say anything, the dream world collapsed, and their consciousness returned to their bodies.
On the side, Milia's eyes opened slowly, just in time to see her head lying against Alvin's lap. In fact, even Alvin was taken aback. He doesn't remember having put Milia in that position at all. It had to be Linfel while controlling his body!
"Ah!" Milia instantly got away from Alvin, surprised by the things that just happened.
"Congratulations, you passed," Mosie noticed Milia getting up and simply announced while he and the other elders continued to drink tea on the stage. None of them knew what happened in Milia's dream.
Alvin scratched the back of his head with an embarrassed expression. "Sorry... I just didn't think it was nice to leave you sleeping on the floor." At the same time, he cursed himself. 'Fuck! I wanted to be conscious while she slept on my lap! Sigh...
I guess there is no helping it. At least we managed to help her conquer her mental demons.'
Milia came back, still puzzled. "W-What happened?"
Linfel and Alvin quickly explained everything, surprising the girl. "So that's what happened."
Then, Linfel used his Magic Energy to speak to Milia and Alvin alone. 'In any case, it is good that I managed to pull Alvin and myself into your dream to help you. If you feel anything weird, let me know. I'm still new to this Soul Power thing.'
'Fuck!' Alvin cursed mentally. He wanted to pretend he didn't know anything, but now it was too late.
Milia felt her entire body growing hot as her face was basically a tomato. 'You saw everything?! Then... then... then when the little ones hugged you and spoke that they wanted... wanted...
wanted... y-y-yo... ahhhh!'
Alvin looked away, trying to not make eye contact with Milia.
Linfel found it weird, though. 'Is that what you care about? The little Milias hugging Alvin? So weird... What about when Alvin wished for a naked Milia to appear? I thought you humans cared about those things a lot more.'
Immediately, Alvin and Milia froze in place. Then, a dark aura seemed to come from Milia's body as she stared at Alvin. "You..."
Alvin continued to avoid eye contact. "I have no idea what he is talking about."
