Chapter Fifteen Data
Upon opening his eyes, Xiang Kun glanced at his phone:
10:27 PM, July 25th.
Looking back, before sleeping last night, he was already somewhat disoriented and had forgotten to time himself with a stopwatch.
But he vaguely remembered that the last time he checked the time, it was around 8:50 PM, so he should have fallen asleep sometime after 9 PM.
The first time he fell asleep after drinking chicken blood, Xiang Kun did not accurately record the duration, but it was about 27 hours. The second time, he used a timer and it was 25 hours and 17 minutes.
This time it also seems to be about the same duration, just over 25 hours.
The first time was exceptional, so it can be temporarily excluded from the sample, the periods for the subsequent two times were almost identical. It can be concluded that after drinking blood, he needs at least 25 hours of uninterrupted sleep, which equates to being absent for an entire day.
Xiang Kun decided to set an alarm for his next sleep, to see if he could be forcibly awakened during this period.
Then, he began to assess any changes in himself. First, he looked at three books that were not far away- he had been using these to train his eyesight.
Since the lights in the room were always on, there was no question of poor lighting. After glancing at one of the books, he got up and moved it a little farther away. He then slowly stepped back until he hit the wall.
Before the third blood-drinking, his eyesight had already improved beyond that of an ordinary person, but at this distance, he certainly couldn’t see the letters on the book, even if it was slightly closer.
But now, the words on the book were crystal clear.
Plus, he knew that even if the book were another meter away, he could still read it perfectly.
Opening the curtains and the window, looking at the night outside, Xiang Kun had a feeling as if the entire world had become more sharply outlined, as though viewed in high resolution.
Without overly analyzing his improved eyesight, Xiang Kun removed his clothes to weigh himself, and measure his arm, thigh, and waist girth- all of which had noticeably increased.
His body weight had increased from 87.4KG the last time to 91.7KG.
In fact, before drinking blood last night, he weighed himself and found that he had dropped to 87.1KG, slightly lighter than after the second blood-drinking.
The rabbit blood he drank, along with a cup of water afterward, wouldn’t have amounted to more than 400g.
Considering the growth of his muscle size, it’s clear that all this weight gain was from building muscle.
Xiang Kun then tested his breath-holding time. It had improved directly from a maximum of 8 minutes and 44 seconds prior to the third blood-drinking, to 11 minutes and 35 seconds now.
In Xiang Kun’s view, the vision and lung capacity he’d worked hard to train in the past few days showed notable improvement.
Of course, at this moment, it’s impossible to definitively say that this improvement is directly related to his training.
He still needs to go to the gym tomorrow to test the data of his left arm curl- a focus of his recent training. Originally, his right arm was stronger than his left. If his physical changes are purely a comprehensive enhancement of his physical fitness after drinking blood, then his right arm should still be the stronger of the two. If his left arm has made significant progress, it would confirm that his training during this time has indeed directly influenced the direction of physical mutation and improvement after drinking blood.
He had been training just his left arm and ignoring his right for this specific reason.
Even without using gym equipment to test it, based on his measured arm size and his subjective feeling of strength, it is already clear that his left arm is stronger than his right.
As usual, he recorded all the changes to his body and all the data, took pictures, saved files, and looked at his photos. His brows furrowed slightly. If he continued with high-intensity strength training at the gym, would his muscle size grow too fast?
Online, there were always some gym novices who expressed concerns before going to the gym. They would say, “I don’t want to become a muscle monster, big muscles don’t look good,” which was inevitably met with scorn and resignation from gym veterans. They replied that kind of muscle is not easily achievable. It takes not only a lot of long-term scientific and systematic training but also a large amount of planned dietary intake, supplement intake, and even the use of drugs like steroids.
However, Xiang Kun is now genuinely facing this problem. According to the change in his physique after drinking blood this time, if he continues with such high-intensity power training, he is likely to turn into a “demon muscle man” after a few more blood-drinking sessions.
On one hand, having such a significant change in body shape within a short period of time could easily attract unwanted attention and speculation. On the other hand, if muscle size is too big, it could hinder agility. Therefore, it seems necessary to change the direction and focus of training going forward.
After drinking blood this time, Xiang Kun obtained several important data points:
1. It’s approximately six days from one instance of blood-drinking to when he feels hungry again. Subtracting the 25-hour hibernation after drinking blood, he has around 5 days of activity during which he’s unaffected. But these are five 24-hour days, as there’s no need for rest, sleep, or eating in between.
2. From feeling hungry to losing control over his mood and beginning to behave erratically, it’s around 22 hours. However, reviewing the videos of “reciting Tang Dynasty poems” recorded on the evening of the 23rd, he found that, if he starts to feel hungry at night, he becomes visibly restless and agitated after 4 hours, which is hard to suppress. However, if this happens during the day, it should be much better.
3. From feeling sleepy after drinking blood until succumbing to sleep, it takes approximately one and a half hours.
While he can’t guarantee that these data points will always be valid, they at least serve as a reference for him to prepare accordingly.
Xiang Kun looked at his phone and saw that after he texted “Sorry, I won’t be able to make it” to Tang Baona the day before yesterday, she replied with “No worries, let’s make plans another time” and a grievance emoji.
Judging from their chat history, it’s clear that Xiang Kun has come off as somewhat indifferent and cold. Tang Baona probably won’t contact him anymore, even if she hasn’t blocked him yet.
But if he tries to explain it now, it would just seem too late. Besides, this outcome was what he had wished for.
Thinking of the cute, beautiful, cheerful, and generous girl, Xiang Kun sighed slightly with regret.
Little did he expect that he would run into Tang Baona at the gym the next day.
Around seven in the evening, when Xiang Kun was leaving the gym to go home, he ran into Tang Baona, who had come to attend a yoga class, in the gym lobby.
