Chapter 91 - EX-LOVER IS NOTHING
"Lucas!"
Michele tried to catch up, even though she felt threatened by Lucas' earlier gaze. However, the love is so deep that she can't just give up.
"Lucas, I know you're lying." Michele cried unabashedly as several people stared at her. She continued to follow Lucas who was walking a little hastily.
"You're not getting married to Selena, are you?"
Lucas stopped his footsteps and looked back. The look he gave Michele was hard to decipher. However, one could guess that there was a look of hatred on his face.
"I did not marry Selena, but I married the woman of my choice and certainly much better than you!" He said deliberately sneering at his ex-lover.
From the way he faced Michele, it was clear that Lucas didn't want to be involved in anything with his ex-lover, whoever it was. Moreover, ex-lover who have left a very deep wound, such as Michele and Selena.
Even though Michele isn't much worse than Selena, she's still the first woman Lucas almost traumatized to fall in love with. So now suddenly she's back, after Lucas managed to bury her name? Ah, that woman really has no ethics. Trying to catch up, after incised a wound that was so painful.
"I know you're lying, Lucas!"
Michele tried to deny it. She still couldn't believe Lucas' statement. However, the look on her face couldn't lie, as if it showed the fear within her. Yes, of course afraid that what Lucas said was true.
"But that's the truth." Lucas replied with a smirk as if pleased with Michele's current expression.
"I know who you are, Lucas. You can't just turn your back on another woman in a short time. In fact, I'm sure you still love me. Tell me it's true!"
Instead of answering, Lucas just giggled at Michele's words. However, it was only for a moment. He looked back at the woman in front of him disapprovingly.
"You are very confident, Miss Michele." Lucas smiled bitterly and tilted his head slightly to observe the look on Michele's face which had turned red.
"You forget that I've had a lot of disappointments because of a woman? Don't you think I'm a stupid man who can be toyed with by heartless women like you!" He insisted before Michele managed to respond.
"Even if I wanted to, I could do more evil than what you guys have done to me. But it's useless, because it would only be a waste of my time." Lucas straightened, slightly puffed out his chest, showing his arrogance in front of Michele.
Shouldn't one's arrogance be met in a more arrogant way? That's what Lucas is doing right now. He was furious with Michele being overconfident.
"It seems you also forgot that I'm not a random person." Lucas raised the corner of his lips again, as if he was deliberately trying to harass Michele.
"Out there, there are many beautiful, sexy, talented and brainy women who are waiting to be my girlfriend. So, do you think I will have a hard time finding a replacement for you? No!" Lucas said confidently. He didn't even give Michele to talk anymore.
"Without me having to go to great lengths to catch up, they came to me themselves and I could have appointed one of them, if I wanted. my wife. The woman who always treats me with love and affection!" It was clear Lucas wanted to burn Michele's heart on purpose.
From the very beginning the pain pierced his heart, Lucas had never once intended to repay his ex-lover's treatment in the same way as they did.
However, Lucas has his own way of making the pain return to the person who had scratched the wound in the heart. One of them is through the painful words that come out of his mouth, like what Michele is feeling right now.
Yes, of course Michele was hurt by Lucas' words that were so piercing. In fact she could barely say anything, because she endured the churning pain inside. Did Lucas hate her that much? In fact, she used to do it out of necessity. If it wasn't for her parents threatening her, maybe she would still choose Lucas to be her lover.
"Stop chasing me and never show yourself in front of me again, because to me my ex-lover is nothing!"
Lucas walked into the elevator that was right beside him. He left Michele still frozen like an undead, unable to breathe without being able to speak or move because of his treatment.
Instantly the clear liquid that had been filling the corners of her eyes, just fell away. Congested. That's how Michele feels right now. Should fate treat her so cruelly? Receiving punishment for other people's mistakes, turned out to be more painful and she had to be forced to accept all of that.
***
Lucas plopped down on the long sofa in his room. Lean while stretching your arms at the end of the back of the sofa. Blank stares seemed to be thrown in any direction, then he snorted roughly, just before the sound of the door opening caught his attention.
"Important people?" asked Adley who seemed to be walking towards Lucas.
Lucas lowered his arms and shifted into an upright sitting position.
"You should have asked the person who was going to meet me first!" Lucas looked up and immediately complained to Adley.
If Adley had told him beforehand about the guest's identity, perhaps his meeting with Michele would not have happened. Unlucky! All of that happened. What if Michele keeps interfering with his life?
"Is there any problem?" Adley frowned, then sat down on the sofa opposite Lucas.
"Do you think I look fine?" Instead of answering, Lucas threw a question and showed annoyance to his friend.
"That's the reason I came here."
Lucas raised his eyebrows. What does Adley mean? Why does he seem to know what's going on with me? Or did he already know?
"Who is she?"
Lucas had not managed to find an answer to his question, Adley's question suddenly surprised him even more. How much did his best friend know?
"I see, she's beautiful too. No less beautiful than your wife, even that woman looks very fashionable." Adley continued before Lucas responded.
"You're stalking?"
Lucas widened his eyes and reflexively leaned forward with his hands resting on his thighs. He then chuckled, then looked away for a moment in any direction.
"Ah ... you are so sinful!"
Lucas sighed in frustration, then leaned back against the back of the sofa, while his dark gaze fell on Adley, who was grinning expectantly. Lucas seemed to know what his friend's gaze meant.
"I just happened to pass by and saw you two enjoying each other's company, like lovers who miss each other. Is that so?" Adley asked as if he wanted to tease his best friend on purpose.
Lucas chuckled again, feeling lazy to respond to his friend's joke. Ah, what kind of humor is this? How could he miss a woman who had clearly smashed his feelings to pieces.
"Don't act like you know!" Lucas cursed angrily.
"You two aren't related anymore, are you?"
"Take it, if you want!" Lucas said as if he understood where Adley's words were going.
"Ah, are you serious?" Adley asked again to make sure.
"Sure. But don't you ever touch it!" Lucas said warningly.
Lucas knows very well how his best friend likes to change partners, just to satisfy his lust. After that, somehow Adley got rid of those women in his life.
Adley, who has many ex-girlfriends, has a much calmer life than Lucas, who has far fewer ex-girlfriends. Dealing with Selena and Michele alone was frustrating enough, what if he had to deal with a lot of exes like Adley? Ah, just imagining it seemed he was reluctant.
Adley looked at Lucas in surprise. 'What does he mean he gave me such a warning. Doesn't he know who I really am? Or don't you, he's still ...'
"She's a nice woman. I've never even touched her. Don't spoil her!" Lucas said as if he knew what was going through Adley's mind right now.
"Why do you care about her so much? Doesn't she mean nothing to you anymore?"
Adley still didn't understand Lucas' attitude which was the opposite of what he saw in front of the elevator door. Lucas, who previously seemed to really hate that woman, now seemed to really care. Ah, what's really swaying Lucas' consistent attitude?
"I don't care about her. I just don't want you to spoil a woman who is very respectful of her." Lucas replied dryly.
No matter how much Michele had hurt him in the past, he knew that Michele was a good woman.
"Then why would I approach her, if only ..." Adley didn't continue, when the cell phone in his jacket pocket vibrated for attention.
"Hello, Honey!" Adley said to the person on the other end, after the phone moved to his ear.
Lucas who witnessed this firsthand, seemed to be frowning, surprised by someone who was called "Honey" by Adley.
"Sure, Honey. I'll pick you up in 10 minutes, you just wait!" Adley asked before he finally ended the call.
"I'll be home early." Adley said as he put the phone back in its original place, then got up to leave the room.
"Where are you going?" Lucas asked curiously.
"I have an appointment with Renata."
"Renata?" Lucas slightly widened his eyes at the familiar name.
"Yes, Renata. Mr. Victor's secretary," said Adley, grinning happily, then hurried out.
"Oh my God ...."
Lucas rubbed his face in response to Adley's attitude this time. How could Adley be so intimate with a woman he'd only known for a few days? Ah, should he get rid of a friend who is too good at playing with women's hearts?
"Oh yeah, I'm still attracted to that woman!"
Adley refused to turn the doorknob which was already in his hand. However, there was no response from Lucas, other than an annoyed squeak.
'Even he likes women who wear very skimpy clothes.' Lucas muttered to himself.
"You bitch!"
