Chapter 36 - COMFORTABLE FEELING

Comfortable feeling

"Let go, Lucas!" Ellena was still trying to get her hand out of Lucas's grip.

"Where are you going, Elle?" Lucas asked dryly.

"Let go of me, Lucas! I don't want to share the same bed with you. I'll sleep on the couch!" Once again, Ellena pulled her hand firmly. However, the harder she let go, the harder Lucas held on.

"Let go—Ow!" Ellena groaned as she felt the pain in her hand from the man's grip getting stronger. "My hand hurts, Lucas," she moaned later.

"You think, you'll just run away from me, Elle?" Lucas lifted the corner of his mouth.

"What are you doing? It's getting late, Lucas. I need some time to rest, you understand?" Ellena's sharp gaze in fact did not make Lucas affected in the slightest.

Lucas is not a man who is easily defeated, especially by Ellena who is only a former employee at his company. The woman's throne was much lower than hers. So, why was he afraid of the threats or glares that Ellena was showing him. Wasn't he much stronger than that woman?

"You want to sleep, don't you?" Lucas raised his eyebrows as he looked at Ellena. "Just sleep here, why move? Isn't this the bed for the two of us tonight?" said Lucas who was still trying to tease Ellena.

"You don't mess around, Lucas! I emphasize once again, I will never sleep in the same bed with you!" Ellena was even more inflamed because of Lucas' action this time.

"I won't give you permission to leave here." Lucas stared blankly at Ellena's eyes.

"I don't care! With or without your permission, I'll still go!" Ellena widened her pupils as a sign of affirming her words.

"Go ahead, if you can get out of here." Lucas looked away from Ellena's gaze, without letting go of his hand. This time he looked up at the ceiling. Apparently, he didn't care about Ellena's anger this time.

"You-"

"You sleep here, or ..." Lucas paused as if he was thinking about something bad.

"Or what?" Ellena seemed so enthusiastic about Lucas' response.

Lucas looked back at Elena. "Or ... I'll do something you don't want!" he answered while looking seriously at Ellena's face, suddenly making Ellena even more surprised and rounded perfectly.

"You?" Ellena rebelled again. However, her strength still couldn't beat Lucas.

"Don't force me to do it, Elle!" Lucas growled which immediately made Ellena silent. He looked into those sharp eyes. Full of anger and threats. Elena shrunk at the sight. It seems, Lucas's gaze this time is not kidding.

"You sleep here or I won't let you go tonight, Elle!" Lucas gave Ellena two very difficult choices.

How could Ellena accept an offer to sleep in the same bed with Lucas, when she herself didn't want that to happen. However, if she disobeyed, Lucas wouldn't let her go either and might be reckless by doing things she didn't want.

"But, didn't we promise not to—"

"Sleep here and make sure I don't touch you a single thread!" Lucas cut off Ellena as if he understood what she was about to say.

"A-are you serious?" Ellena made sure that what Lucas said was trustworthy.

"You can take my word for it." Lucas lowered his tone.

"You promise?" Ellena held up her pinky finger.

Lucas was stunned for a moment staring at Ellena's pinky finger. He tried to hold back a smile. Ellena's behavior was really like a child to him. Without thinking, he raised the little finger of one hand and linked it with Ellena's, without saying a word.

"I keep your promise. Just watch out if you dare to do anything to me, I won't forgive you, Lucas!" Ellena finally agreed to Lucas' request to sleep in the same bed tonight.

Ellena didn't know the reason Lucas forced her to stay there sleeping. She had no other choice. She didn't want Lucas to actually do something she didn't want to, if she didn't do what Lucas wanted. In the end, there was no other choice, but to obey Lucas' orders, just to save himself.

"Go to sleep and don't disturb my rest!" Lucas asked with great emphasis.

"Okay. But—"

"But what else, Elle?" Again Lucas cut off the conversation.

"But let go of my hand first!" Ellena looked at her hand which was still held by Lucas. That of course led Lucas to look that too.

Lucas just realized that he was still holding Ellena's hand so tightly. Suddenly he cleared his throat at the two hands, then he looked deeply at Ellena, and vice versa. Until their gaze locked for a moment.

After about a minute of staring at each other, Lucas then released his hand from Ellena's hand slowly. However, something was strange. Lucas let go of his hand while giving a soft caress on Ellena's hand which suddenly made the woman jump slightly in surprise at the soft touch of Lucas' hand.

Ellena was still confused by Lucas' change in attitude tonight. With Lucas suddenly forcing her to sleep in one bed, then a soft touch on her hand and finally Lucas' gaze suddenly turning sad, staring at her so deeply as if to indicate that something was being suppressed.

Lucas didn't know that his attitude this time made Ellena's heart race so fast. Ellena was still confused by the vibration in her heart that she always felt when she was close to Lucas. I don't know what it was, it was clear that he was very uncomfortable feeling it, as if someone wanted to get out of there, whatever it was.

"Alright I'll sleep here. But please keep your distance, don't ever come near me." Ellena grabbed a bolster that was lying everywhere, then placed the bolster in the middle, as a barrier between herself and Lucas.

"Give me your bolster!" Ellena held her hands up to Lucas.

Lucas pursed his lips, before finally handing the bolster that was on the edge of the bed, right beside him, to Ellena.

Again Ellena put the bolster in the middle, side by side with the other bolsters. Now there are two bolsters that divide their sleep.

"Okay, good night, Lucas. I hope I don't have nightmares tonight." Ellena lay down beside Lucas. She immediately pulled the blanket up to cover part of her body, then she curled up, sleeping with her back to Lucas.

Unlike Lucas, who was still in a supine position. Every now and then he looked at Ellena's back which was back to him. However, it didn't last long. There was a sense of comfort that he was able to capture in his heart directly, when he could sleep together with Ellena. The feeling came suddenly, whatever it was, Lucas still didn't understand it.

After wrestling with his daydream.. In the end, Lucas fell asleep when Ellena had fallen asleep first.
