VRMMORPG: Dragomancer Reborn

Chapter 259 Rank Promotion

Chapter 259 Rank Promotion

After his momentary pause, Arthur entered the guild and heard the normal chaos inside.

Similar to the one in Roran town, the Adventurers guild here was also divided into three main sections.

First was the Job section, where one could take up quests and get their rewards. The second was the tavern area, where adventurers rested as well as discussed. This was also where most of the parties were formed when there was a need.

Then there was the third area which was mostly restricted to the guild staff and had the administrative area. It also included the Guild Master's office and the Guild's vault.

'Don't think I'll be able to meet the guild master this time.' Arthur thought to himself.

But that wasn't his goal and he went to the job section. He stood in the queue and waited for his turn to come.

"Welcome, are you new here?" The staff member sitting behind the desk seemed to have recognized.

"Yes, I'm new in the city," Arthur said before showing him the ID card.

"Hmm, Rank F Adventurer Arthur from Roran Town. Guess this is your first time here. Not many Rank F's here." The staff member checked. "Oh wait, you're actually due for a promotion." He said after using the magical tool.

It showed that Arthur had done multiple missions before and their details as well.

"Huh? I am?" Arthur furrowed his brows.

He was a bit confused by this, as he was very sure there was no way he had done enough jobs to consider it enough for a rank promotion. While Arthur might have done more bounties than other players as of now, it was still half of what would be needed.

After all, promotion was a matter of numbers too. As such, Arthur thought that he would get promoted later once he did a few more jobs.

"They didn't tell you?" The staff member asked in confusion. "It says here you've done a major mission that involved the protection of a town. You got rid of… An entire Bandit group and an Orc Tribe?!" the more the man checked the more he was surprised.

"Yeah, but I did have the assistance of the Guard Captain." Arthur replied.

"Regardless, of it you are due for a promotion." The man said and inserted his card into the magical device.

~humm~

The device shone for a moment before the card was ejected.

"Here you go. As of now, you are officially a Rank E Adventurer." The Staff member spoke.

~DING~

——

Name: Arthur

Adventurer Rank: E

——

The notification popped up, confirming it for Arthur.

He thought a bit more about it and realized a flaw in it all.

'I didn't talk to the staff at the guild before leaving… I only talked to Caleb… Damn, seems like I missed it because of that.' Arthur now understood.

The mission to save the town from Dozla and his group as well as the eradication of the Trunel Orcs on the side was more than enough to warrant a promotion for Arthur. In fact, considering the fact that many more bounties would be placed on the Trunel Orcs in the future, and Arthur had just removed their entire tribe, it was basically the same as him completing all those quests before they even existed.

This was something that hadn't happened before, thus it was no fault of Arthur that he hadn't expected this.

'Though this makes some things easier for me. I'll have access to more things.' Arthur thought.

The Adventurers guild actually provided more services, but they weren't available in Roran Town as it was small. Plus the players going there would be mostly beginners, as such they didn't need those services present there.

But in the city, a lot more were available and depending on one's rank, an adventurer would be able to obtain different things.

For example, one could buy equipment that was limited to higher ranks, or take on jobs that needed a higher rank too.

And as one continued to grow in ranks, they would get access to even better privileges even going so far as to be able to issue quests themselves through the guild.

For example, if an A-ranked adventurer needed a certain kind of material and didn't want to gather it himself, he could simply issue a quest and let the other players do it for him. Of course, he would have to pay for it, but it was still a lot more convenient.

The player guilds in the future were highly dependent on this system and often relied on them to recruit players for their own quests.

For example, if they wished to hunt a field boss that was in an area populated by several enemies, they would recruit other players to clear these enemies. That way, they would be free to hunt the field boss without being interrupted by the other enemies.

"What else do you want today?" The staff member asked, Arthur making him snap out of his thoughts.

"Ah, I am here to take on some bounties," Arthur replied.

"Of course, here are the ones available." The Staff Member showed him, making a window pop up in front of Arthur.

>Available Bounties<

4. Hunt 10 Forest Goblin Mages [Elnar Forest] *

5. Hunt 5 Twin Tail Lizards [Spindle Hills] *

6. Hunt 2 Hammer Head Oxes [Spindle Hills]

7. Hunt The Grogal [Oxal Mountain Outskirts] *

(* : The Player is under leveled for this bounty!)

——

Arthur saw the Seven bounties that were available and noticed that over half of them were basically just goblins. This just showed just how big of a menace the goblins really were. It didn't help that they had many variants too.

Then there were the two bounties that were important to Arthur since they would be boosting his stats.

'The Twin Tail Lizards and The Grogal… They are gonna be my main course.' Arthur thought to himself.

All of them were Draconids and would give Arthur stat boosts.

Then there were the Hammer Head Oxes, which Arthur was not interested in. He debated whether he should even bother to take the bounty, then reckoned he might as well.

'If I encounter them when I'm in the area, I may as well hunt them.' Arthur thought to himself.

He didn't mind the warning that he was under leveled either, as his stats were much higher than other players at the same level. So the warning wouldn't really apply to him.

The only one where the warning would matter was the Grogal, as it was a strong beast.

'If I recall, it can be anywhere between level 34 to 38.' Arthur remembered.

The Grogal was a recurrent beast and would appear from time to time. Once it was hunted though, there would be a cool down period before it would respawn.

'Finding the Grogal is the main issue though… it is one sneaky beast.' Arthur thought to leftism, hoping that Brambles would be able to sense it.

Having made his decision, Arthur spoke to the staff member. "I'll take them all."

"Are you sure?" The Staff member asked.

"Yes, I'll take them all. And don't worry, I'll pace myself." He replied.

"Very well."

>Player Arthur has taken on seven bounties<

The notification popped up, before another window with the details also popped up. Arthur ignored the ones about the goblins, as he already knew the rewards, and looked at the two he was focused on.

>Bounties issued!<

——

Bounty: Hunt 5 Twin Tail Lizards in the Spindle Hills!

Grade: Uncommon

Difficulty: Intermediate

Reward: 4 Gold Coins, Reputation increase.

***

Bounty: Hunt The Grogal on the outskirts of Oxal Mountains!

Grade: Rare

Difficulty: Intermediate

Reward: 7 Gold Coins, Reputation increase.

——

'They sure give a decent payout as compared to the goblins, which only pay 1 silver per goblin.' Arthur thought to himself.

The stronger variants of the goblins, like the Goblin warriors and archers, pay 1.5 Silvers while the Goblin Mages pay 2 silvers instead.

Still, this was nothing compared to the other two bounties.

Plus, since these were bounties and not specific jobs, there wasn't any extra equipment as a reward. Most of the bounties were issued due to the creatures being a danger or a nuisance as such, their corpses would usually be considered as a reward too.

Players were free to do whatever they wanted with them or they could simply sell them all off if need be. That way, they could get more money.

"Thank you for your help," Arthur said to the staff member before leaving the place.

He squeezed out through the entrance, as more adventurers were coming in to have some drinks at night.

'Now to get the Teleportation Scroll.' This was one of the necessities that Arthur needed to get.

It would vastly shorten the time needed for him to return to the city and make it very profitable in the long run with how many corpses he would bring.
