Chapter 227 Spell Break And Recovery
With the potions he had with him, Arthur felt a lot safer.
"This is what I got them for anyways." He muttered before taking out one of the potions from the potion holder on his chest.
~gulp~
>Player Arthur's HP has risen to 60%<
>Player Arthur's HP will continue to rise by 0.5% for 30 seconds<
With the first potion down, Arthur didn't lower his alertness. After all, the danger was still around and there were still things happening around him.
The next thing he did was to look around and get a sense of the situation. The first thing that he learned was the fact that the massive Magic circle above him was no more.
'Is that what shattered?' Arthur wondered and sensed the faint traces of mana in the air.
It had become highly spread and even the stream of mana heading into the Magic circle had dissipated. These were clear signs that the spell had failed and had been interrupted.
Of course, the question was how had it happened.
~SHUA~
This was answered soon enough, as Arthur saw a long black arc of energy shooting towards the forest.
~BOOM~
The black arc of energy destroyed the area that it struck and all the trees that were struck by it were turned into smithereens. As for the trees that were a bit far away, they were still tainted by the black energy, deteriorating at a fast pace.
Within seconds, a radius of about 20 meters had become rotten and decaying. It was terrifying just how strong the said attack was.
In seemed almost more deadly than the fireballs that the Silver Eyed person had been using so far. To other players, this attack would leave them speechless and make them wonder just how it was executed.
But Arthur knew exactly what it was.
'Night Slayers Withering Curse Slash…' Arthur recalled the deadly skill that had become the bane of thousands of players that had come across the mysterious NPC.
It was one of the signature skills of the Night Slayers and was well known by many.
"Where is he?" Arthur looked opposite to the direction of the slash and soon spotted the Night Slayer.
He was perched upon a half destroyed hill and held a giant sword that was taller than his entire body.
"What the hell is that sword?" This was Arthur's first time even seeing the sword.
As far as he could recall, while the Night Slayer could use many weapons he certainly did not use a Great Sword like this.
If he had, there was no way players that were obsessive over great swords would ever let it down. They would have another character to fan boy over and would not let it go easily.
"Is that how the Night Slayer destroyed the Magic Circle?" Arthur wondered.
Destroying a magic circle on that level, especially being used by a Transcendent NPC was not an easy task at all and could cause one to die as well.
Perhaps only Night Slayer had the right kind of silks that could dismantle Magic Spells like that.
What Arthur didn't know was that it was actually he who had given the Night Slayer the opportunity to retaliate. There was no way he would know either, as his attention had been locked in by the pair of the terrifying Silver eyes.
All this time, Arthur also had his eye on his variable stats and saw that his HP recover had reached the 75% mark.
"Another one," Arthur gulped one more potion down once the effects of the first one had worn off.
>Player Arthur's HP has risen to 85%<
>Player Arthur's HP will continue to rise by 0.5% for 30 seconds!<
Having taken the two Arthur would be at his full HP soon and was going to be ready to deal with most things. While his MP might be still at 50% it was a lot better than having his HP there.
His Stamina was regenerating on its own, but Arthur ate some Meat Jerky to speed it up more. Of course, this was all Arthur could do for now, as he was sure the danger was not over yet.
With his HP steadily reaching the max, Arthur moved into better cover. Granted, there wasn't much cover left in the first place after the fireballs destroying the cliff side.
Arthur simply returned to his boulders and hid behind them for a bit more.
~BOOM~
~SHUA~
~SLASH~
The battle between the unknown Silver Eyed Person and the Night Slayer continued for a few more minutes, as they exchanged several attacks.
Arthur peeked in from time to time, but had no idea how they were actually faring as he couldn't get a long enough look to use his skill.
'There's no way I can use it on the silver eyed person anyway, I only need to spot the Night Slayer.' Arthur reckoned, having learned the lesson from his earlier conflict.
If it could even be called a conflict as he had simply been frozen in fear.
But if that person could stun him with one look, they could very well kill him with other. Even a single of their well placed fireball would destroy the spot he was in and kill him in one go.
As fine as he was with dying right now, he would like it if he did not.
'I don't think I'll be able to take this path again after this.' From what Arthur could see, the path to the mountain had been destroyed throughly and there was no way he could use it again.
He would either have to carve another route or use some other means. Even now, his method of returning was undetermined.
'I might just have to climb down from the mountain side directly… perhaps I'll be able to find a good place to slide down from.' Arthur hoped.
But if this didn't work, Arthur still had another option.
'Or I could just travel all the way to the next settlement and take the proper route from there.' He hoped.
