VRMMORPG: Dragomancer Reborn

Chapter 111 Long Claw Trunel Prowlers

Since Arthur couldn't buy anything right now, and going back to the inn was not needed before the logout time, he decided to do something else.

"Hmm… I have four hours left till the log out time… I might just be able to do something in this time…" Arthur muttered to himself as he looked at the clock. 'I may as well survey the Trunel Woods and assess the condition there.' He thought.

Having made the decision, Arthur left through the eastern gate.

Unlike Kestrel Village, the guard didn't stop or ask him anything just letting him pass. Though Arthur knew that upon return he would probably have to show them his identity to enter. Leaving the town didn't need anything extra but entering sure did.

After leaving the town, Arthur made his way towards the Trunel woods. The path was still good and he could travel at a decent pace. In just about ten minutes, Arthur was already standing at the entrance of the Trunel woods.

"These are certainly denser than the forest near the Kestrel village." Arthur said to himself.

It was rather dark right now, and only the moonlight peered through the treetops. But to Arthur everything looked as clear as the day.

'Dragon's Insight is such a great skill…' Arthur thought.

The passive effect of night vision basically meant he could travel without a torch and be free. He would also be able to spot different enemies faster than others.

'And considering the clarity I have, it might actually be better than a lot of other beasts.' Arthur reckoned.

But from here one, Arthur was ready for any attack. He knew that night time meant that nocturnal beasts would come out and attacks could get deadlier.

"Oh? Something's already watching me, huh…" Arthur quickly discovered a pair of eyes glaring at him from the distance.

To owner of the eyes, Arthur was unaware of it. But unfortunately for it, Arthur had already spotted it.

'Let's see what that is, shall we?' Arthur thought before using his skill. "Dragon's Insight!"

>Dragon's Insight has been successfully activated!<

Looking at the information that was in front of Arthur he knew the beast was grossly underpowered in front of him. Normally its passive skill of Night Prowl should have given it the best advantage when combined with the Night Vision passive skill.

Just these two skills would have been enough to overwhelm the average player that might have approached the forest. Even for other beasts that naturally lived in the forest, the Long Claw Trunel Prowler would have been a dangerous predator.

But to Arthur, it was the opposite.

"Let's see how it reacts…" Arthur wanted to test something.

He held the Key Spear in his hand, while continuing to walk as if he hadn't noticed the Long Claw Trunel Prowler. With each step, he got close to the beast while it stayed still. No noise was made by the beast either, as it waited silently for its apparent prey to approach.

~rustle~

And when it was just a couple meters from Arthur, it couldn't hold back and pounced at him!

"Couldn't hold back anymore, could you?" Arthur said as he reacted faster than the beast.

He simply tilted Dietrich towards the beast, allowing the beast to pounce onto it.

>The Long Claw Trunel Prowler has been impaled onto Player Arzhur's weapon!<

>The Long Claw Trunel Prowler has been immobilized temporarily!<

Arthur didn't even need to put much effort, as the beast injured itself by jumping onto the spear.

Not just that, but with how the beast was impaled, it couldn't move around very well either.

Arthur finally got a proper look at the creature, finding it to be rather small. It was about the size of a dog but the claws on its legs were rather long being four inches in length.

They were basically like small knives, and were big compared to its smaller size. It had dark black fur that allowed it to blend in with the darkness while two black eyes also assisted in that.

It had long ears that were able to move independently and were propped straight up. It could allow the beast to pick up on sounds quickly. Its mouth was rather narrow and looked more like a anteaters snout.

Though sharp teeth could be seen hidden in its jaws when it opened them. Right now blood was trickling down the corner of its mouth, having been injured deeply.

The Long Claw Trunel Prowler had no tail and its feet were also padded with fur, allowing it to move in silence. What was strange was that even after getting injured, it hadn't let out a sound.

"Hmm… its control over its sound is really good." Arthur was a bit surprised.

The beast simply glared at Arthur, while trying to push itself off the spear. Unfortunately for it, the slits of the Spear head prevented it from moving back.

"Well, time to end your misery…" Arthur said before withdrawing the Black Tear Short Sword and stabbing it into the beast's head.

>Player Arzhur has killed a Long Claw Trunel Prowler<

>Player Arzhur has obtained 3% Experience<

"Hmm… that's decent." Arthur muttered.

~thud~

He let the beast fall to the ground, before pulling the spear out of it.

~SLICK~

Pulling the spear out ripped its flesh more, causing blood to splatter around the area.

Arthur knew that this would probably caused the smell of blood to spread farther and attract more beasts.

Thankfully, Arthur had avoided getting any blood on himself.

"Let's just take the loot quickly." Arthur used the Black Tear Short sword to cut off the claws of the beast.

>Player Arzhur has obtained Low quality Trunel Prowler Claws x 4<

>Player Arzhur has obtained Mid quality Trunel Prowler Claws x 2<

"Hmm, two medium, four low. Decent enough to sell. They're light too, so I can carry more." Arthur was pleased by the loot.

He threw them into the bag and continued onwards.

~rustle~

~snap~

Five minutes was all it took, for him to encounter another beast though. It was another Long Claw Trunel Prowler but it was hidden on top of a tree. A faint snapping sound was heard, as it broke a twig while moving.

Such a sound would normally meld with the natural sound of the trees rustling. After all with the wind blowing, it was normal for the branches to rub and break some twigs.

But to Arthur, the beast looked worse hidden than the previous one.

'At least the previous one was hidden in the bushes and could barely be seen. This one his standing on a branch and looking at me.' Arthur thought.

The Long Claw Trunel Prowler stayed unmoving and silent like the previous one and waited for Arthur to approach the area near it. Its eyes were trained onto Arthur while its ears moved to pick up on every small sound.

"Just a bit more…" Arthur got near the beast slowly, making him look as unaware as possible.

He hoped to catch the beast off guard and perhaps kill it on one go.

And surely, a few seconds later the beast made its move.

~WHOOSH~

It jumped off the branch to another branch, before diving towards Arthur. Its target was Arthur's neck and wished to cut it with its claws.

"Too late!" Arthur moved like the wind, and thrust the spear towards the beast.

Dietrich's sharp head collided against the neck of the beast, piercing through it with ease. Before the beast could even realize what had happened, the spear had passed through its neck and come out the back.

Its spine was evidently severed in one go, as the notifications popped up.

>Player Arzhur has killed a Long Claw Trunel Prowler!<

>Player Arzhur has obtained 3% Experience<

"There we go…" Arthur laid the beast down on the ground before quickly harvesting its claws.

"If things keep on going like this, I might actually be able to gain a level before log out time." Arthur reckoned.

Killing the Long Claw Trunel Prowler like this was proving to be easy as they would jump at him.
