Chapter 89 - Xiaoyu's Delusions

A kaleidoscope of pink butterflies fluttered into the sky paving way for the sultry lips to taste the forbidden fruit. The mood was right, the environment was perfect to have one's first kiss but the other participant wasn't aware of it carefully rubbing the elixir on the red patch of skin.

Ji Yao's head was lowered with his neatly tied up hair concealing part of his face. The lovely scent coming from his body grew stronger and stronger the closer Rui Fei got to him. The little shred of rationality he had left was swept away by this divine scent that he disregarded the consequences and decided to smash the cracked pot entirely.

But at the last lag, something disruptive happened prompting him to halt his advances. It was a light knock on the door that ruined everything. The person didn't even wait for permission sliding the door open.

Rui Fei coughed unnaturally and moved backwards just as Ji Yao raised his head to look at the door with furrowed brows.

An excited Xiaoyu walked over the threshold carrying a tray with a radiant glow on her face. Ji Yao who had no idea that his so-called little brother over here was about to kiss him was a little upset when they were interrupted.

She sauntered over her lovely hips moving right to left with a seductive air to it but her steps faltered when she saw the same breakfast like the one in her tray served on the table. Agape she stared at the food then her gaze shifted to Rui Fei before landing on the hands joined together.

Her eyes twitched staring at the hands. She wasn't certain how to react at this moment. Ji Yao had never held hands with her but Rui Fei had beat her to it. She noticed the redness on the boy's fingers and figured that he burnt himself dishing out the food in the kitchen.

This reduced the sour feeling in her heart but still even when she was hurt Ji Yao never personally tended to her. Thinking maybe it was because she was a girl, she comforted herself and swallowed down the sour feeling.

She suppressed the chilling aura brewing within and put up a forced smile as she said, "I didn't think didi would bring food for Yao-ge. I guess this won't be necessary then."

"Mn," replied Ji Yao before lowering his head as he carried on rubbing the elixir on Rui Fei's fingers with great care.

Ji Yao might have looked indifferent but Rui Fei was a different story. One way to describe him would be a starving dog that had been robbed of its bone. He was glowering at her on the outside but inside he was growling like a dog with rabies.

He wanted to tear her apart for ruining the perfect moment but he knew if he did that he would be showing his ugly side to Ji Yao. His Yao-ge was already afraid of his intimidating seraphic energy what more if he witnessed him tearing apart this annoying jiejie?

Unfortunately, his glower was greatly misunderstood by Xiaoyu. Based on the kid's past behaviour it seemed he was jealous because she had paid attention to Ji Yao and not him.

Previously Rui Fei had held her hand to stop her from leaving and ate the cake she brought for Ji Yao despite his aversion to sweet things. Now he deliberately brought Ji Yao breakfast knowing that she would bring him breakfast. He obviously had some type of interest in her but she only had eyes for Ji Yao.

It seemed she had to let him down easy and clearly explain that nothing would ever happen between them. She smiled at Rui Fei before saying, "Then I will go put this away."

She briskly walked out of the bedroom thinking of ways to break a young man's heart with minimal damage. Rui Fei was still upset about the disturbance that he followed her disappearing figure with his eyes. If looks could kill she would have been stabbed multiple times.

As soon as her shadow disappeared Rui Fei subconsciously stared in Ji Yao's direction only to find the man staring at him with a complicated gaze. Ji Yao wanted to ask, "Is she pretty?" but he restrained himself letting go of Rui Fei's hand.

That gaze had Rui Fei a little flustered but the panic kicked in when Ji Yao let go of his hand. He felt like if he didn't explain himself today he might be greatly misunderstood but sensing a chill coming from Ji Yao he couldn't open his mouth. If he just started explaining himself without Ji Yao's inquisition it might look like he is guilty of something.

Ji Yao picked up the pair of chopsticks and silently ate his meal his mind elsewhere. While eating he muttered, "You don't have to do this again," under his breath.

Rui Fei who was absentmindedly staring at him was so distracted that he mumbled an unintelligent response. "Huh?" he asked a little vexed.

Ji Yao raised his head and repeated his statement, "Don't bring me food next time," before glancing over at the scorched fingers that were already recovering.

Rui Fei's face sank thinking that Ji Yao would prefer Xiaoyu bringing him breakfast other than himself. The heavyweight in his heart increased as a sour feeling rose to his throat.

After that incident, Rui Fei didn't speak much compartmentalizing his jealousy. When they finally delve into the subject at hand, he felt a little better.

Hearing Rui Yewan who had been summoned by Ji Yao explain how one keystone could map out the location the others he distracted himself from the matters of the heart.

Rui Yewan picked up the keystone with his seraphic energy and whispered something to it as though coaxing it to spill its secrets. This unusual method had left Ji Yao stupefied but Rui Fei seemed accustomed to it.

He had seen his younger brother talk to that keystone dozens of times. It was creepy but as long as it kept Rui Yewan with a sound mind then why bother?

All three of them had been through hell and survived which meant they had little strange habits that helped them cope. Rui Li had her novels, Rui Yewan talked to a rock and Rui Fei's obsession was..... ahem..... you know who.

Rui Yewan had his eyes closed searching through the dark fog in his mind. There were six dim-lit stars representing each keystone but as he moved forward five of them suddenly disappeared except one that shone brighter and brighter.. His shadowy finger moved toward it and as he reached out to touch it he saw a dark gloomy room with talismans plastered all over the walls.
