Voyage With The Pirate King

Chapter 62 - Playbook

The two boys locked gazes, one smiling and the other looking like someone owed him millions. If this persisted Ji Wen could no longer guarantee Rui Fei's safety so he hurried to change the subject.

He held the keystone dangling on his chest which inspired his topic choice. "How about we discuss how we are going to find the rest of the keystones, huh? How about it Ah-Yao..... come on, don't leave your father hanging like that," he said patting Ji Yao's shoulder.

Ji Yao's gaze gradually shifted with great difficulty as he lowered his head. As he thought before, there is no point in entertaining the crazy. Entertaining Rui Fei would only end with him having a headache.

Rui Yewan who had just heard what Ji Yao said interjected perfunctorily, "Easy... just let it guide you to the rest," eating a bite-sized chuck of the steamed bun.

Everyone, "..."

Rui Yewan who had his head lowered while stuffing his mouth with the last half raised his head when he felt the atmosphere wasn't right. Everyone was staring at him like an endangered animal inside a cage at the zoo.

"What?" he asked in a muffled voice and puffed up cheeks.

"How do you know that?" asked Ji Wen suspecting that his ears had too much wax and he was hearing things. He flipped his hair back revealing his ears so as to make sure.

Rui Yewan swallowed his food before explaining. "I have spent the last year and a half with it and sometimes I like to infiltrate it with my seraphic energy. It turns out when I do that I sometimes see other gemstones of the same kind just that their colour is different," he said feeling a little confused.

Why did it matter where the other gemstones were and what was up with the word keystone? Wasn't it just a rare gemstone?

Ji Wen slammed the table in excitement. Who would have thought this kid would solve a problem that had been keeping him up at night? With this major hurdle solved then what were they waiting for? It was about time they go hunting.

"How did you figure that out?" curiously asked Ji Yao. If this was the answer then why hadn't Prince Rui figured it out.

"Because I had it for the past one and a half years before it was robbed from me by a certain someone," replied Rui Yewan with his gaze turning to the certain someone who was pretending to be innocent.

Rui Fei chuckled before firing back with a clever response. "I gave it to you for safekeeping and took it back when I needed it. I don't see that as robbery," he said as he picked up his cup of steaming hot tea.

That's when Ji Yao found out this so-called apology gift was robbed from someone else. Yes sure, he didn't care for the apology gift at the time he received it but now that he found out he was gifted stolen goods he wasn't too pleased about it. And his face showed his true feelings.

Rui Li who had been stuck in dreamland watching the pair surrounded by pink bubbles finally came back to herself when she heard this. Without thinking she kicked Rui Fei from under the table.

Rui Fei, "...."

He looked under the table and saw Rui Li's leg coming after him again so he shifted further away resulting in a tragedy that involved the innocent. Ji Wen who had been immersed in his joy for having found a solution was ruthlessly brought back to earth by that kick.

"Argh... Aiyo! *Hiss ... what are you? A horse?" yelled the pirate king who didn't expect to be kicked for no apparent reason. When could he have offended this little miss?

Rui Li covered her mouth with both her hands her eyes agape before apologizing profusely. She had meant to kick this older brother who thought it was a good idea to gift her future sister in law such an uncreative gift that was robbed from Rui Yewan.

Rui Fei could call it safekeeping all he wants but that gemstone was basically Rui Yewan's best friend. She had even caught him on several occasions talking to it. Yes, his older brother was crazy to the point of conversing with a stone.

Who wasn't crazy among the three of them? They spend years imprisoned in dungeons with no one to talk to. This meant they had to be creative. It seemed she had to come up with a plan for Rui Fei otherwise he won't be able to capture Yao-ge's, fragile heart.

While Rui Li was apologizing and Rui Yewan suppressing his laughter, Xiaoyu finally made her grand entrance looking as exquisite as ever. It was then Rui Li had an 'oh shit' moment. Judging from Xiaoyu's outfit and the neatly arranged pieces of thousand layer cake on a plate she had already started implementing operation 'capture Yao-ge's heart.

'Damn it,' she thought as she bit her bottom lip contemplating whether to sabotage her or not. She had handed over the full playbook on how to capture a man's heart to the enemy. If she had known she would be shipping another CP a day later she wouldn't have handed over that playbook.

By then Xiaoyu had already placed the hot cakes beside Ji Yao presenting her masterpiece. Sitting on her knees like a graceful beauty born of a deity she said, "Yao-ge, I made your favourite... please try it. It's sweet." As she said this she picked one with her chopsticks and sent it towards Ji Yao as though trying to feed him directly.

Ji Wen, "..." If his son eats that then he will happily wed them right now. This girl had been subtle about her feelings not daring to showcase it to the world. Today though things were a little different. She not only made cakes but she also wanted to feed him directly. When did she get so thick skinned?

So will this beauty succeed? Will Ji Yao choose not to embarrass her in front of everyone and lean in to take a bite? Will Rui Fei sit there and watch his Yao-ge get fed by a vixen of the highest order? Watch tomorrow's episode to find out how this little play will end.
