Chapter 151 - Holding Hands Yet Again

The two teenagers who had never experienced a single day of 21st-century school were forced to listen to a boring lecture that never seemed to come to an end. Ji Yao was at least doing fine but Rui Fei.... he was as fidgety and finicky as a two year old. He had the worst attention spun of the two of them.

He was like a puppy that keeps growling despite being reprimanded so many times. He was really mad about the handprint on Ji Yao's neck that he couldn't keep still. The man couldn't handle the constant interruptions that he finally asked, "Seriously, don't you hate him? I mean you Huishe are pig-headed and stubborn. Your hatred for us is etched inside your bones but you..... you are acting just like how the Huishe act when protecting the females in your clan but towards my distant nephew over here," he said leaning forward with a look of curiosity on his face.

Rui Fei who had been active a second ago suddenly stiffened. Pressing his lips into a thin line he refused to look at Ji Yao. He couldn't understand why everyone was keen on selling him out. First, it was his uncle, now it's this weird guy who he didn't even know his name.

Seeing that he had this Huishe cub in a corner he continued, "Wait... do you-," but he was cut off by Ji Yao right at that moment.

"Our relationship is none of your business. Qilin Hao didn't send me, I came looking for something," said Ji Yao sparing this cub from his secret getting exposed.

"Okay fine, she didn't send you neither do you know my name so how about this..... I tell you who I am and my relationship with your mother then maybe I can consider giving you what you came for," he said but he couldn't give a rat's ass about what Ji Yao wanted from him.

All he cared about was skinning this brat alive and packaging him before sending his neatly folded body to his mother. Ji Yao didn't agree neither did he disagree. He was willing to hear about their childhood rivalry as long as it bought him time.

Three of his fingers were already moving and it wouldn't take long before the rest of his arm is free.

Since no one had an objection he began to tell the story of his life. He leaned back into his seat and said, "My name is Qilin Kai and I am your mother's first cousin..." He paused for a moment as though lost in thought. Whatever memory playing in his mind must have been a bad one because his expression darkened further.

Ji Yao could sense a storm brewing from those gloomy peach blossom eyes. The more Qilin Kai gazed at him the more he anticipated becoming a scapegoat for whoever caused that bad memory that man was recalling.

And as expected Qilin Kai raised his hand and punched Ji Yao on the face. Ji Yao head tilted to the side as a drop of blood flowed at the corner of his lips. The strength Qilin Kai used was in no way little. He hit him so hard that Ji Yao saw stars.

Rui Fei couldn't handle seeing Ji Yao being treated like that. His anger burst forth like a missile being shot out of a submarine but since his entire body couldn't move his eyes were bloodshot glaring at Qilin Kai. An intricate pattern of protruding veins appeared on his neck like vines trailing up a wall.

His expression was in no way close to describing the raging storm mounting up in his body. The pressure was building up within him and there was no plausible outlet. The silver grey ends of his hair began to spread upwards at the most visible rate transforming his black hair.

Rui Fei was so angry that his vision became blurred. The turmoil within him was desperate to get out and beat the shit out of Qilin Kai. The one who was about to get his ass kicked wasn't even paying attention to him. He was leaning back in his seat staring at the fist he had used to hit Ji Yao. The tension in the atmosphere was so intense but his mind was stuck in his bad memories.

While Qilin Kai was stuck in his own realm, Ji Yao who could now move his right hand felt around for Rui Fei's. Both their hands were tied up behind their backs so no one could see what was going on. Ji Yao grabbed Rui Fei's finger and squeezed it without looking at him.

Rui Fei who was ready to explode like fireworks in a confined space was drawn back from his flashpoint by Ji Yao's hand wrapping around his finger. He turned to look at him and was met by Ji Yao's side profile.

Ji Yao jawline was smooth like he wasn't fazed by that punch. His chin was bruised and his lip was split but he didn't look pissed. The only trace of worry was on his lips and he wasn't worried about himself but more worried for Rui Fei. He was afraid he would pass out from anger so he held his hand to try and calm him down.

Rui Fei felt like instead of calming him down this hand holding was getting him excited. His heart was beating fast, he felt giddy and his mind was going wild. These were all the symptoms of holding hands with the one you like. If it weren't for this unfortunate situation he might have reached over and kissed his cheek.

Ji Yao felt a weird feeling coming from where their hands were joined together. He didn't remember if he had ever held Rui Fei's hand before but when he did this time, it felt weird like something in his body was screaming at him to hold that hand and never let go.

The fact that he wanted to touch him some more made Ji Yao let go. Something in him was changing and he wasn't sure how to feel about it.

Maybe it was because he knew Rui Fei liked him that he was reacting this way or maybe it was because he was the only other person he could touch without feeling cringy. Whatever the reason, he wasn't going to keep holding Rui Fei's hand.

But we can't always get what we want, right? It seemed Rui Fei's plan of not letting go had been re-revised. If Ji Yao takes the initiative then he wouldn't let go of him and that's exactly what he did. He held Ji Yao's hand and wouldn't let him go.
