Vampire Nightlife

Chapter 37 The Talk

Of course, he didn't say yes right away.

But Lukas kind of kept the offer in mind when he and Serena parted ways.

It was a surreal thing to also have Lily be so formal and polite around Serena before she left, and Lukas decided to ask her about it.

"So… who's this Serena person?"

Lily's eyes bulged and she turned to Lukas. "What? How could you not know–ah, she's one of the remaining pure bloods in our city. While other Vampires' powers have grown weaker over time, she has remained steadfast in her strength."

"Weaker?" Lukas frowned, suddenly curious. Was this about the blood availability again?

"Yes." Lily confirmed.

"I see… well, uh… besides all of that, I guess it's time for us to go meet up with Chaerin, huh?" Lukas scratched the back of his head, feeling a bit awkward.

Since he started to take Stacy's advice seriously on the polyamory thing, the least he could do was sit down the two together and have a proper conversation.

"Shall we go?" Lukas offered his arm which Lily took as they made their way to their destination.

VitaBlood again.

For one reason or another, Lukas felt like it was better to do it in a place that neither belonged to Lily or Chaerin hence why it was a public place–and in the worst case scenario, perhaps Stacy could interfere if things got heated.

Along the way to the store, it was clear to Lukas' eyes that he was pretty lucky as he noticed several Vampires looking their way as they walked, most probably because of how cute and adorable Lily looked.

When they arrived, they'd come across and see Chaerin seated at one of the tables. She was sipping some blood from a straw and perked up when she saw Lukas, but calmed down when she noticed Lily.

It was quite hard to forget someone whose strength was so insane that they'd tear right through you–Chaerin's expression turned a touch colder.

"Lukas and Lily…" Chaerin tried for a smile. Even their names sounded good together in her head as a cutesy couple name and it somehow made Chaerin a little tense.

On the other hand, the non participant of the conversation was also in a bit of a stressed situation–Stacy was looking over as she served other customers and wished that the trio had done it elsewhere.

While there was some curiosity if things were going to work out when the two girls looked close to ending each other's life–it also didn't have to be at her workplace, right?

Lukas noticed Stacy's gaze and sent over a nervous smile in her direction.

Stacy softened up a little but then snapped herself back to attention and looked away. She would hurriedly fill the orders requested of her as she made it a point not to eavesdrop.

"So… I think we got off on the wrong foot." Lukas smiled as he sat down in between the two girls–almost feeling like some referee or coach dealing with two delinquents.

"You think?" Stacy muttered underneath her breath.

"I… you have my sincerest apologies for trying to hurt you–well, hurting you." Lily offered to say to Chaerin, going for an apologetic smile that had won the hearts of her siblings and father before.

"It's not easy to forget, I will remember it–" Chaerin started, but then noticed Lukas' gaze. "But I will find it in my heart to forgive you."

"That's great girls." Lukas said. Now he felt like a mom or teacher trying to reconcile two young children, but this was better than nothing. "Umm, so Lily, do you want me to get you anything? What about you, Chaerin? Need your blood refilled?"

Lukas made it a point to always include the two of them both in the same sentence, just to avoid any jealousy or making one feel as if the other was favored.

"Ah, I'm fine, thank you for asking, Lukas." Lily smiled. "Do you need anything? I can get it for you. Well, order something."

"No worries, you don't have to worry about me." Lukas waved it off but then cleared his throat. "So, uh the reason why we're here today is to talk about… well the three of us."

"My relationship with you and my relationship with hers." Chaerin couldn't help but say.

"I think the two of us should be like sisters, yes?" Lily went for a smile and crossed her arms over her chest. "The two of us both care for Lukas and he cares for each of us–but I do not think I can hold any feelings for you."

"Neither can I." Chaerin said.

"Great, that's one thing settled again, right?" Lukas chuckled weakly.

"Yes."

"Absolutely."

For one reason or another, he still couldn't quite remove the unease that he felt–everything was happening too soon, but Lily was refreshingly direct and upfront and Chaerin was cooperating.

So why should he be worried still?
