Valerian, The Legendary

Chapter 283 - 283 Solution.

283 Solution.

Valerian stopped after moving all over the place for a few minutes. He looked at Gladis with his glowing eyes without any fluctuation. The black dragon asked, “How did you do it?”

His voice was hoarse than earlier, it was evident that Valerian’s attack had done him a lot of harm, and he was enduring pain. Finally, the young man took a deep breath and said, “While you were focused on my movement, I attacked with this.”

He raised his left hand, revealing an azure-colored dagger. This dagger was made with materials that allowed Valerian to conduct wind attribute mana through the dagger to increase its sharpness. His strategy was to divert the attention of the enemy first. Then, attack him with the knife to disable him.

Gladis shook his head and asked, “Your first attack? It was not this dagger.”

Valerian nodded and said, “Your scales are almost impenetrable. I could only use my wooden sword. Other metals do not affect dragons.”

Gladis nodded and said, “You pass my trial of strength. I am Gladis. The commander of the dragon army.”

Valerian bowed to the giant and said, “I am Valerian.”

Gladis returned the gesture and bowed his respect. Valerian raised his head and cast a healing spell. However, he frowned. His healing spell was not working on the wounds of the beast. Gladis sighed and said, “Healing spells do not work on me.”

Valerian asked, “Why?”

.....

Gladis looked at the child with big eyes and said, “I have poison in my blood.”

Valerian was shocked. He asked, “What kind of poison can render healing spells useless?”

“A large dose of shadow mana, if injected right inside the bloodstream of a dragon. It becomes poison.”, said Gladis.

Valerian did not reply and pondered over it. Finally, after a few minutes, he said, “Dragon blood is a conductor of mana. However, once it comes into direct contact with mana, the nature of the blood will change completely. Am I right?”

Gladis nodded, and Valerian said, “May I extract a few drops of your blood?”

This surprised the dragon, but Valerian said, “I have spent some time studying the manipulation of mana attributes. If my study is successful, I might be able to cure your condition.”

Gladis was taken aback. Dragons were the wisest in terms of magical skills. However, they were still lacking in humans when it came to being innovative. The magical beasts would stick to the line of thought they had been following in the past.

Thinking that this child was wasting his time, Gladis wanted to refuse. However, the poison did not only restrict the effects of healing spells on him, but also his strength was slowly declining. If he used any other attribute of elements, his body would experience a burning sensation in his veins.

Gladis knew he did not have much chance to get over this ailment in his entire life so as not to demoralize the young human in front of him. So he compassionately allowed Valerian to collect the drops of his blood into a glass vial.

Valerian was meticulous in the procedure and asked, “How long will it take for your wounds to heal? sir?”

Gladis replied, “These are shallow, so one week or less. I do not know. I will not die from them, though.”

Valerian frowned. He could tell that the problem worsened as more time passed. He decided not to wait for any further to climb the throne peak and tackle this solution. Instead, he looked at Gladis and asked, “Sir, is there any cavern nearby?”

Gladis replied, “A few hundred meters ahead to your right will be a cave.”

Valerian thanked him and rushed towards the said location. He did not meet any other guardians on the way. However, his guard was up. He will not be caught unguarded by anyone of the guardians. After a few minutes, he found the cave and entered the place, and sat on the ground with the glass vial in his hands.

...

On the throne peak, Cupido was seething in anger. She did not like that the attacks injured Gladis. Arma said, “You need to calm down. Your aura is all over the place.”

Cupido snarled, “I wish to tear that brat to shreds. How can he injure Gladis so severely?”

Gale sighed and shook her head, and Cupido said, “What are you shaking your head for?”

Gale replied, “I was expecting that human to cry like a baby.”

She was taunting Cupido deliberately. The latter wanted to retire when Fortuna said, “What is he doing?”

Everyone focused on Valerian, and they were shocked. He was channeling light magic from one hand while dark magic from another. Both attributes were conducted in a controlled quantity. The dragons saw two balls of similar sizes floating over his palms. Fortuna had a bad premonition in her heart and wanted to rush out of the peak when she saw that the young man broke down the balls into wisps and then controlled these wisps to move towards each other.

Now in front of Valerian was a cluster of dark and light mana wisps. He was not pushing these wisps to get mixed. He let them all move around freely, and the first two ways came into contact after a few minutes. They were opposing in nature. So, repulsion was expected. However, the wisps did not reject each other too strongly.

Valerian did not give up but allowed the wisps to make contact and carefully controlled them from sudden interaction. A couple of hours passed, and the boy was soaked in sweat, but at this moment, an old voice sounded to the rest of the guardians, “This child passes the Medicus trial. I accept him.”

The three guardians on the peak replied, “Yes, Elder.”

Fortuna said, “What did he even create by blending the two elements?”

Arma said, “Achieveing perfect harmony between two opposing elements and combining them is simply remarkable, Your Majesty.”

Fortuna rolled her eyes and said, “If his time were spent doing something more practical, I would have been even happier.”

The summit was silent. For Fortuna balancing the mana of two different natures was not a big deal.

...

Inside the cave, Valerian looked at the ball of two attributes infused together and smiled. Then he dispersed the ball and took a vail from his magic pouch. Inside the vial was a sample of blood he had extracted from Gladis.

Thinking about it, he opened the vial and began to channel light attribute mana inside the vessel. He did not know that his actions had shocked a few souls to the core. Valerian saw that the conducting ability of the blood was intact, and it readily accepted the light mana. However, the young man did not think that it would help Gladis.

Even if light and dark can balance each other, what about the different attributes? As far as he understood, all seven attributes must be harmonious to create life. So if he only used one attribute to manage the situation, it would cause Gladis to have restrictions towards other attributes.

Valerian began to channel other attributes inside the vial. The color of the blood changed with each new attribute. Valerian was careful to maintain the quantity he had directed inside the vial. He meticulously counted how much light energy mana he conducted for the blood to look familiar to the balanced mana ball.

...

While Valerian was busy with his little alchemy project inside a cave on the throne mountain, an old dragon opened his eyes. Despite his heavy eyelids, this dragon had sharp eyes. He had not left his lair in a decade now. However, today, this young man made him curious. He wanted to see what would happen if all the attributes could be channeled through the so-called contaminated dragon blood.

This possibility made him excited. Finally, after a long time, the dragon stood up and took a few steps toward the cave opening. His movements alerted the four people on the summit.

Fortuna stood up and said, “The elder is willing to come out?”

Arma nodded with his eyes sparkling. However, just when the four were ready to welcome the elder, they spotted a verdant green shadow flying toward the cave where Valerian was. Gale said, “It seems the elder has finally found his inspiration.”

The other three nodded with peaceful expressions on their faces. Finally, Cupido mumbled, “I owe him an apology.”

Gale snorted and said, “You owe us an apology, Cupido.”

Fortuna interjected, “Now is not the time to discuss this.”

Arma followed the lead, “The queen is right. Let us wait.”

...

Valerian finished channeling all the attributes inside the vial and found that the dragon blood inside had changed colors. It was now a shining gray color. He smiled, and said, “You have been watching me for a few minutes now, Sir. May I ask, who are you?”

A wisened voice sounded from the from of the cave, “To think you can perceive my presence, aren’t you a genius, Young Magnus.”

Valerian was surprised and stood up from his spot. He asked, “You knew my father?”

A verdant green dragon appeared in front of the cave, and said, “Indeed, but I knew your grandmother. Misericordia Magnus.”
