Chapter 211
211 Aftermath Of The Incident.
Fragrantia left Valerian to rest after they finished talking. The boy went back to sleep on the ground, and a jade vine appeared when he was in deep sleep and coiled around his ankle.
...
While Valerian was sleeping in his room, Morgana was sitting on a chair with an indifferent face, and in front of her sat Jamal Centurion. The old man did not look weak at all, however, he was not imposing or intimidating either.
He asked, “Well, everything aside, I do not understand why you need to go to the Imperial academy with the prince of Lumen?”
Morgana replied, “Your Excellency, he invited me for a tour, as he thinks I am a friend of his. I had no excuse to refuse, because inside the academy I found out a few things that might come in handy for us.”
Jamal leaned back on his chair and asked, “What is that?”
“Valerian Verus is a battle mage of seventh grade, and he can use multiple magical attributes. Another thing is that he is very capable in battle and is very cunning if he wants to. The purpose of the trip was to win me over by curing my smile.”, replied Morgana.
This made Jamal sit up straight once again and he asked, “So, what happened?”
Morgana shook her head and said, “Nothing came of it, but I got into a dispute with his highness.”
.....
His Highness in her mouth was the address for Noor Centurion, the guy she had beaten up in the Imperial academy, and was sure that this matter would have been reported back to Jamal, so she had already prepared a fool proof explanation.
Jamal nodded and said, “Noor did report this incident and said that you did not hold back at all? Why?”
His tone seemed to be nonchalant, however, this old man was like a snake, he liked to attack his prey when they were not on guard against him. However, Morgana was not a newbie when it came to dealing with this guy, so she replied, “His highness was enraged to see me inside the academy, and he said a few things that did not sit well with the identity I have.
If I did not retaliate back with full strength then the Centaur nation might have been joked upon, on how they treat battle mages.”
Jamal asked, “What did Noor say?”
Morgana looked a bit hesitant and then she let out a sigh before speaking, “He called me a woman who is trying to get close to the people in Lumen by climbing in their beds.”
Then she bowed her head, Jamal raised his eyebrow when he heard this. He has never interfered when Morgana was mistreated at home, however, outside, he has always been clear that Morgana was to be respected and he was well aware that his grandson can definitely do something like this.
He sighed and said, “Fine, you do not have to worry about this, I will deal with him when he comes back home. You must have been tired from the journey so you can go back to your room and rest.”
Morgana stood up and after a bow she left the room. The place was a dimly lit room used to interrogate prisoners. Jamal caught sight of a silver fox beside Morgana and asked, “Where did you get this beast?”
Morgana stopped and turned around and said, “Your Excellency, this is a charming fox, it was presented to me by Valerian Verus, although it may look odd but this fox is very docile and can be used to deal with things like beast tides.
That is why I accepted it, it is not strong enough to take control of humans.”
Jamal nodded, and said, “You can keep it, but if it causes any trouble, then I will present you with a coat from its fur.”
Morgana nodded, and with a bow, she left the place. She did not want to stay in front of this old man for even a minute, he was very cunning, and the more she dealt with him, the worse the situation would become. Valerian was right about this, she will face a lot more as she grows up.
The centurions will not let her grow into a force that could pose any threat for them. Thinking about this, she walked away with Silk. She was already planning how to take down every centurion and claim the throne for herself.
After she left the room, Jamal whispered, “Snare.”
The cloaked figure appeared beside him, and he asked, “Is everything as she said?”
Snare had been enslaved by the charming fox, and his mind has been programmed for a lot of situations. Snare had always been suspicious of Morgana, and if he supported her directly now, it would make Jamal figure out something.
Snare replied, “She was correct, but she did hide a few things.”
Jamal nodded and said, “Tell me?”
Snare replied, “The Verus family was very welcoming to her, and the Empress had invited her to the evening tea a few times as well. They seemed to act like there was nothing wrong with the situation.”
Jamal nodded and said, “The Verus family is not easy to deal with, they are also cautious in not revealing anything to Morgana, her reputation precedes her.”
Snare nodded slightly and stood at his position. Jamal said, “Let us go, there must be news coming from the Sapientian border soon.”
Snare nodded and vanished behind Jamal who led the way. They were eager to see what the result of the siege was. Jamal reached a grand courtroom, the place had a ceiling at twenty feet and a luxurious emerald chandelier was hanging from the center, the color stood in contrast with the pale golden walls, beside the seats of the officials stood twenty feet tall emerald-colored pillars, supporting the ceiling, engraved with the glorious history of the Centurion family.
Jamal sat down on the throne, and the prime minister stood up with his head down. He said, “Your Excellency, there is a message from the Vaklyrians.”
Jamal nodded and said, “Read it out loud.”
The prime minister nodded and said, “Greetings, Your Excellency Jamal, with a heavy heart we are informing you that the attack on the Sapientia border has failed.
The army has suffered heavy losses, accounting for up to a thousand soldiers missing in action along with fifty grandmasters. From the traces found by our detection teams, it was a monster that caused all this.
The spies have found that a rumor is circulating in the Lumen Empire that it was all caused by the fourth prince, however, his strength is not enough to go against the grandmasters, we hope that you also investigate the matter before we make any other moves.”
Jamal was shocked at this letter and enraged by the fact that his plan has failed and that too in the first stage. He said, “Go investigate the youngest prince of the Lumen Empire, I want to know everything he did before and after being adopted in the Verus royal family. Find me his origin and his story. You have a week.”
The decree was passed down, and the currents had begun to surge.
