Chapter 89
Chapter 89 - In a Coma
“I'm a ghost,” Ye Hao declared to Xiao Ming.
“That's impossible; you don't carry the scent of a ghost,” Xiao Ming countered, scrutinizing Ye Hao.
Rolling his eyes, Ye Hao retorted, “Listen, don't come to me with this kind of thing again.” With that, he turned on his heel and walked away.
It was at that moment Xiao Ming realized Ye Hao was still alive. He quickly followed after Ye Hao, curiosity piqued. “Why didn't the ghost kill you?”
Ye Hao paused and looked back, “Do you actually wish I were dead?”
“No, it's just that it doesn't make sense for the ghost to spare you.”
“That elder is not a ghost,” Ye Hao corrected him, his concern for the white-clothed woman's presence evident. “What?” Xiao Ming gasped in surprise.
”That elder has ascended to immortality.”
“A Phantom Sage?” Xiao Ming's eyes grew wide with astonishment.
“What else could it be?”
Xiao Ming slapped his thigh, realization dawning on him. “I was wondering why there was such a benevolent aura around that elder. Tell me, Xiao Ming, do the Keepers of Forbidden Lore acknowledge the existence of an Earth Immortal?”
”I'm not sure.”
“Can your Keepers of Forbidden Lore confront an Earth Immortal?”
“We can.”
Ye Hao was taken aback. “Are the Keepers of Forbidden Lore that formidable?”
”We're not, but we can summon the Ancestral Master. If we could bring forth the three progenitors of the Keepers of Forbidden Lore, even legendary immortals would be within our means to confront.”
“But not just anyone is worthy of summoning the Ancestral Master, right?”
“It all comes down to one's innate talent,” Xiao Ming explained.
Ye Hao nodded in understanding. There was always a reason why a sect could endure through the ages.
“So why didn't you call upon the Ancestral Master earlier?”
“With my current level of power, I simply don't have the means to summon such a master.”
“Why isn't your martial arts cultivation on par with your Talisman Cultivation?”
“With enough spirit stones, I could enhance my martial arts cultivation at any moment. But to advance my Talisman Cultivation, I must undergo a formal legacy.” Xiao Ming spoke candidly, “My sole purpose in descending to the Mortal World is to elevate my martial arts cultivation.”
“Do you have a lot of spirit stones?”
“I only have one spirit stone on me right now.”
“What good is one spirit stone?”
“This single spirit stone can help me reach the first level of Body Refining. Our sect will continue to provide us with more.”
“Your sect seems quite tight-fisted.”
“It's not about being tight-fisted; spirit stones are just incredibly rare.”
Hearing this, Ye Hao decided not to press Xiao Ming for any spirit stones.
“I'm off.” Ye Hao waved to Xiao Ming and headed over to where Tang Pianpian had parked.
“How did it go?” Tang Pianpian inquired.
“We'll talk about it at home,” Ye Hao replied quietly.
“Why can't we discuss it here?” Leng Xue asked, clearly unhappy.
“I just don't want to,” Ye Hao said, giving Leng Xue a look.
Leng Xue opened her mouth to respond, but Ye Hao had already closed his eyes.
In the dim light, Leng Xue could see Ye Hao's face, ghostly pale, as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead.
Tang Pianpian, noticing his condition, asked with concern, “What's wrong?”
“I'm fine,” Ye Hao said, his voice low and steady, yet he kept his eyes shut.
”Do you need to go to the hospital?”
“We're going home,” Ye Hao stated decisively.
At that moment, Leng Xue interjected, “Something's not right with Ye Hao. We need to get him to a hospital immediately.”
“There's no need,” Tang Pianpian said, shaking her head. “Ye Hao wants to go home.”
“Are you taking his health lightly?” Leng Xue was about to argue further when she noticed Tang Pianpian accelerating. “Why are you driving so fast?”
Tang Pianpian remained silent.
Ye Hao gently touched Tang Pianpian's hand. “I'm okay.”
Her eyes brimming with tears, Tang Pianpian said, “You can't be in trouble.”
“Have you forgotten what I've told you?” Ye Hao managed a weak smile.
“No.”
“Then there's no need to worry.” With that, Ye Hao fell silent.
Watching Ye Hao in pain, Tang Pianpian felt a deep ache in her heart. She wished she could take on his suffering herself.
What Tang Pianpian didn't realize was that she lacked the capacity to withstand Ye Hao's agony.
Su Xiaoyu was still imbued with ghostly aura.
As Su Xiaoyu's finger pierced Ye Hao's body, the ghostly aura flooded into him.
Despite possessing Divine Blood, Ye Hao found it challenging to purify the ghostly aura quickly.
The primary issue was that much of the Divine Blood's energy had been depleted, with a significant portion used to enhance Ye Hao's physique and spirit root.
Moreover, the resistance offered by the Divine Blood was only passive.
Had Ye Hao been able to harness the essence of divinity within his blood, the ghostly aura would have been rendered harmless.
Therefore, Ye Hao's only option was to bear the pain in silence.
“Miss Leng, we've arrived at the college,” Tang Pianpian announced as she pulled up to Riverdale College.
“I should come to your place,” Leng Xue suggested after a moment's hesitation. “If Ye Hao encounters any trouble, I can lend a hand.”
“There's no need,” Tang Pianpian firmly declined.
Her refusal left Leng Xue at a loss for words.
Once Leng Xue had exited the vehicle, Tang Pianpian revved the engine and headed toward Blossomfall Chateau with Ye Hao.
To Tang Pianpian, Blossomfall Chateau was their sanctuary, a home for her and Ye Hao, and she wanted no intrusions.
After assisting Ye Hao to the master bedroom, he was visibly enfeebled.
“I might fall into a coma for some time,” Ye Hao murmured, his consciousness waning.
“What should I do?”
“Just… don't do anything,” Ye Hao managed to say before succumbing to unconsciousness.
Tang Pianpian gazed at Ye Hao, his features contorted with pain, and after a brief pause, she tenderly stroked his cheek.
In the midst of her gentle touch, Ye Hao's eyes snapped open, catching Tang Pianpian off guard.
”I seem to have forgotten something,” Ye Hao remarked, taking Tang Pianpian's hand into his. A stream of pure vital spirit then flowed into her body.
With that, Ye Hao closed his eyes once more.
Tang Pianpian's heart skipped a beat.
She hadn't anticipated that Ye Hao would consider the possibility of her experiencing the Nightmare Incarnate at such a time.
Gazing at Ye Hao's face, her eyes slowly filled with a look of adoration.
Days slipped by, one after the other.
Ye Hao had been in a deep slumber for a full week before he finally came to.
Upon opening his eyes, the first sight that greeted him was Tang Pianpian, her lovely face etched with terror.
Nightmare Incarnate!
Ye Hao's mind raced to a conclusion.
He swung out of bed and drew the bronze dagger from the wall. As the keen sound of the blade echoed through the room, the fear vanished from Tang Pianpian's expression.
Ye Hao guided Tang Pianpian back to the bed and tenderly tucked her in with the blanket.
Checking his phone, Ye Hao realized that seven days had elapsed.
His phone was flooded with missed calls.
But Ye Hao ignored them, focusing instead on sensing the transformation within himself.
During his introspection, he discovered that Su Xiaoyu's ghostly aura had been purified by the Divine Blood into a sphere of energy.
This sphere was exceptionally pure, devoid of any specific properties.
