Chapter 40
C40 – Gambling Expert
“Open the cup,” Lu Ziming said, clearly displeased with Ye Hao’s behavior.
The croupier turned her attention to Ye Hao.
Opening the cup required mutual consent—a steadfast rule.
Ye Hao gave a slight nod.
The croupier then lifted the cup.
Guo Xiu’s face lit up with surprise when she saw the dice showing 1, 4, 4, 5, 5, and 6.
“25!” Qu Wen exclaimed, his mouth agape.
Lu Ziming was momentarily taken aback.
He hadn’t anticipated such an outcome.
“Let’s go again,” Lu Ziming told the croupier.
“Alright.”
The croupier nodded and began to shake the cup once more, this time with a different technique, shaking it more vigorously, thereby increasing the difficulty of the challenge.
Qu Wen suddenly coughed loudly, causing Lu Ziming to frown sharply, though he chose to remain silent.
After the croupier set down the cup, Lu Ziming shot Qu Wen a fierce glare.
Qu Wen quickly averted his gaze.
Noise was the last thing you wanted when listening to the dice.
“You go first,” Lu Ziming said to Ye Hao.
With a smile, Ye Hao tossed six cyan chips onto the number 24.
“Sixty thousand,” Lu Ziming said, a glint in his eye.
After a brief hesitation, he placed six cyan chips on the number 21.
“Open it.”
All six dice showed the number four.
24.
Lu Ziming’s expression shifted as he regarded Ye Hao. “I didn’t realize you were such a skilled player.”
“Care to continue the gamble?” Ye Hao inquired.
“Absolutely.” Lu Ziming pulled out a gold card and instructed Qu Wen, “Exchange this for one million in chips.”
Ye Zhiguo and Guo Xiu’s faces tensed upon hearing Lu Ziming’s request for a million in chips.
Lu Ziming was about to place a significantly large bet.
“Hao, should we get more chips as well?” Zhiguo whispered.
“These chips will suffice,” Ye Hao replied, shaking his head gently.
Before long, Qu Wen returned with a stack of one hundred green chips.
“Again,” Lu Ziming declared.
As the croupier released the cup, Lu Ziming confidently placed ten green chips on the number sixteen.
Ye Hao confidently pushed all twelve green chips he had in front of him onto the number twelve.
“You really are full of confidence,” Lu Ziming remarked as he grabbed two more chips and tossed them into play.
“I’ve got the skills,” Ye Hao replied with a smile. “Croupier, reveal the dice.”
The six dice showed the numbers 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, and 3.
Lu Ziming’s face soured.
It was at this moment he realized that the young man before him was a gambling virtuoso.
“Do you want to keep gambling?” Ye Hao inquired.
“Let’s switch to poker,” Lu Ziming suggested, not keen on continuing this particular game with Ye Hao.
“I’m not interested,” Ye Hao dismissed the idea without a second thought.
Lu Ziming hadn’t anticipated Ye Hao’s refusal.
“Croupier, is it permissible here for one person to coerce another into gambling?” Ye Hao asked earnestly, looking at the croupier.
The croupier’s demeanor turned frosty as he glanced at Lu Ziming.
The casino had long since adopted a professional approach to business. Casino owners frequently engaged in philanthropy to cultivate a positive social image.
So as long as you didn’t win excessively, there was no need to fear the casino reneging on a payout. In fact, upon request, the casino would even provide security personnel to escort you safely back to the mainland.
Reputation was everything to the casinos in Anesas.
Lu Ziming’s face flickered with unease, but he held his tongue.
“We should leave,” Ye Hao said, rising to his feet.
Qu Wen made a move to intercept them, but Lu Ziming stopped him.
“Are you looking for trouble?” Lu Ziming hissed a warning.
The casino’s security staff, formerly hooligans from the underworld, wouldn’t hesitate to deal harshly with any disturbances.
“Hao, are we heading back now?” Ye Zhiguo inquired.
“We’ll have the casino’s security personnel escort us back to the mainland,” Ye Hao decided, signaling for a server.
The server hesitated briefly before responding, “Sir, our casino can provide security escorts for your return, but there will be a commission fee.”
“How much is it?”
“That will depend on where you’re headed.”
Ye Hao pondered briefly before answering, “Weyphia.”
The server considered for a moment, then asked, “Sir, how many security guards will you require?”
“My only request is that you get us to Weyphia City as quickly as possible.”
“One hundred thousand RMB.”
“Agreed.”
Lu Ziming’s behavior had Ye Hao’s parents deeply concerned, so Ye Hao thought it was a good deal to spend one hundred thousand RMB on hiring security personnel to ensure their safe return home.
“Sir, please come with me.”
The casino operated with a well-established system.
In no time at all, they had everything arranged.
The attendant led Ye Hao and his family to a sumptuous room within the casino and whispered, “Sir, please make yourselves comfortable here. I’ll bring the plane tickets shortly.”
Guo Xiu surveyed the room and remarked, “Initially, I thought the one hundred thousand RMB fee was steep, but now I see it’s justified.”
Ye Zhiguo nodded in agreement, adding, “This place is even more upscale than the five-star hotel we stayed at.”
Once they all settled down, Ye Zhiguo spoke in a low voice, “Despite the unexpected events, we’ve managed to earn nearly three million RMB. After settling our family’s debts, we should have about two million RMB left.”
Guo Xiu also felt the trip had been worthwhile.
Ye Zhiguo shared his plan: “I’m thinking of renovating our home and then investing the rest of the money in a business.”
“You’re considering renovating our place?” Guo Xiu inquired.
“Yes,” Ye Zhiguo confirmed, “Property prices are on the rise. The renovation sector is bound to boom. I’m thinking of starting a renovation company with one million RMB.”
Ye Hao smiled and said, “I’ll leave it to you two.”
Just then, the doorbell chimed.
“Could they have delivered the plane tickets already?” Ye Hao wondered aloud, somewhat puzzled.
As Ye Hao opened the door, he was taken aback by the sight.
The young woman standing before him was strikingly beautiful, her eyes shimmering like stars.
She stood before Ye Hao, radiating an air of nobility and grace.
Instantly, Ye Hao recognized that she came from an extraordinary background; such an aristocratic demeanor couldn’t have been cultivated otherwise.
“Have I disturbed you?” she asked gently.
Her voice was soft and melodious, a delight to the ear.
“And you are?”
“I’m Lan Qingqing, the manager of this casino,” she introduced herself, extending her hand.
Ye Hao was taken aback.
He had not anticipated a visit from the casino’s manager.
However, it didn’t take long for Ye Hao to figure out that word of his wager with Lu Ziming had made its way to Oak Park High, where Lan Qingqing studied.
“What do you need?” Ye Hao inquired gently.
