Chapter 129 - Meeting Again

“Are you that certain?” May asked, taken aback.

“With Ye Hao's abilities, capturing that girl would be a breeze,” Xiaolan said, gesturing to the video. “How could he possibly fail to subdue an ordinary student within thirty seconds?”

“We can't go public with this kind of thing. And even if we did, it wouldn't hold up as evidence!” May mused aloud.

“The moment this video is released, media pressure will swiftly lead to Ye Hao's judgment,” Xiaolan stated, turning to Lin Rou'er. “Miss, do you have any suggestions?”

“The complexities of Ye Hao's case mean it must be dealt with officially. Nonetheless, from what we've heard, it doesn't look promising,” Lin Rou'er replied after a pause.

The iron gate swung open.

Ye Hao glanced at the entrance.

A young man exuding an air of refined scholarship entered.

“Ye Hao, here we are again.”

There was no hint of surprise in Ye Hao's eyes upon seeing the newcomer.

“Just because I overshadowed you, you're determined to see me dead?” Ye Hao confronted the white-clad youth.

“That's correct.” This white-clad youth was none other than this year's champion, Faang Wen.

“Do you realize your schemes could ruin me?”

“You're far too naive,” Faang Wen said coldly. “You'll endure endless torment in prison until death.”

“Do you really hate me that much?”

“How could I not?” Faang Wen hissed. “You're nothing but a lowborn. What gives you the right to outshine me?”

“Don't you think your perspective is a bit too narrow-minded?”

“You're the one who fails to grasp the gravity of the situation.”

“Even if I am indeed convicted, it would only be for attempted assault.”

“The Faang family is a Literary Family, wielding immense power. Crushing you would be effortless for me. My reason for orchestrating all this? I want the entire nation to see just how vile their beloved champion truly is.”

“Don't you think the term ‘vile' suits you better?”

“Throughout history, those who accomplish great feats don't sweat the small stuff.”

“Did you come here today just to gloat?”

“I'm here to tell you something.”

“What's going on?”

“You're going to be sentenced in three days, under intense media scrutiny,” Faang Wen said, looking into Ye Hao's eyes with a mocking tone. “Kardashian can't make headlines, but you? You'll do it effortlessly.”

“Should I be thanking you, then?”

“There's no need to feign composure with me, Ye Hao.” Faang Wen, noticing the lack of panic on Ye Hao's face, felt a surge of anger. “Soon, the entire nation will see your true colors.”

“I'm not scared. I'm innocent.”

“You think denying the charges will make them go away?”

“Exactly.”

“You're incredibly naive.”

“I have faith in justice.”

“Well, you'd better watch closely as I turn truth into lies.” With those words, Faang Wen turned and walked away.

Ye Hao watched his retreating figure in silence.

Shortly after Faang Wen's departure, the Chief of Police in Glento called a press conference.

In three days, Ye Hao's trial would be made public.

The announcement signaled to the media that there was more to the story than met the eye.

Publicizing Ye Hao's trial seemed unnecessary unless the goal was to tarnish his reputation completely.

Nonetheless, this didn't deter the media from flocking to the Glento courthouse to secure a spot.

As Ye Hao's story continued to ferment, the public's interest grew.

Three days later, at the Glento courthouse, it was standing room only.

The moment Ye Hao was escorted in by two officers, the flash of cameras filled the room.

Lin Rou'er stood up, her face etched with concern as she watched Ye Hao.

Not everyone was privileged to sit in the audience during Ye Hao's trial.

Even Tang Pianpian lacked the credentials to be there, to say nothing of Zhang Lan and Bai Hehua.

Throughout the trial, Ye Hao remained composed.

Despite the murmurs and accusations from the crowd, his expression remained unchanged.

As the plaintiff, the female student entered the courtroom. She glared at Ye Hao, her voice filled with sorrow and rage, “Why don't you just die?”

Reporters quickly raised their cameras to capture images of the distraught student.

Meanwhile, viewers across the nation were tuned into the live broadcast.

“This young woman seems to wish Ye Hao dead.”

“Ye Hao has completely destroyed her reputation.”

“I think Ye Hao should be sentenced to death by hanging.”

The presiding judge then proceeded to read out several procedural rules.

“Now, will the plaintiff please present the facts,” the presiding judge requested solemnly.

“Good morning, Your Honor. My name is Zhang Pei, a junior at Riverdale College. At around 10 AM on October 23rd, I was walking near the basketball court when he lunged at me.” Zhang Pei pointed accusingly at Ye Hao, her eyes seething with loathing. “During my struggle, a young man happened upon us. But he was no match for him and was quickly beaten to the ground. Thankfully, Mr. Zhang and four other teachers came by just in time. Otherwise, he would have raped me.”

“Do you have any evidence?” inquired the presiding judge.

“His fingerprints are on my body and my clothes,” Zhang Pei responded.

“Present the evidence,” commanded the presiding judge.

Shortly, an officer approached the bench, carrying the clothes Zhang Pei had worn that day.

“Our analysis confirms that these are indeed Ye Hao's fingerprints,” confirmed the officer.

The presiding judge nodded, “And the witness?”

Not long after, a young man stepped into the courtroom, his gaze fixed on Ye Hao with fury. “Why don't you just die?”

“Witness, please recount what you witnessed that day,” the presiding judge instructed gravely.

“On the morning of October 23rd, I was visiting Riverdale College. Suddenly, I heard a plea for help and rushed towards the sound. That's when I saw this scoundrel trying to rip off a girl's clothes, attempting to rape her.”

“Regrettably, I was no match for him. He beat me so severely I couldn't retaliate. Afterwards, I managed to discreetly record the incident on my phone.” The young man spoke with a tone of self-reproach, “I blame myself for being useless. If it hadn't been for Mr. Zhang and the others arriving when they did, this young woman might well have been raped by him.”

Subsequently, Mr. Zhang and four other teachers were called in.

The five teachers recounted what they had witnessed truthfully.

The facts were quite clear.

Regarding the video, it had already been widely circulated online.

Playing it again was merely a formality.
