Chapter 12

C12 – Professional Game Player

“Are you confident about resolving their school registration issue?” Ye Hao’s voice was low and serious.

Niu Li responded with a smile, “The principal of No.3 High School has a longstanding friendship with the Director of the Department of Education since childhood. Rest assured, this matter won’t be taken lightly. Besides, considering the magnitude of the situation involving numerous students, we wouldn’t jest about it.”

“Does the bonus for scores above 800 points also follow this rule?” Ye Hao knew that his score would exceed 800 points next month.

“Actually, it’s not 300 yuan but 500 yuan. In other words, students who score 900 points in the exam will receive 10,000 yuan as a bonus.” Niu Li reached a point where she had a wry smile. She continued, “Typically, students with over 800 points secure their admission to prestigious universities. For them, a few thousand yuan wouldn’t prompt a transfer.”

“I’ll inform the students about this during the class.” Ye Hao contemplated for a moment and a plan began forming in his mind.

“Hao, this matter is of utmost importance. Please take it seriously,” Niu Li emphasized promptly.

“When’s the deadline?” Ye Hao inquired.

“We still have two months before the college entrance exam. The cutoff for this matter is half a month before the exam. Failing to meet it might hinder the application for admission tickets,” Niu Li clarified.

Ye Hao nodded, refraining from further comments.

Niu Li’s visit to Ye Hao’s house revolved primarily around this issue. With the information imparted, she got up to leave.

Following Niu Li’s departure, Guo Xiu posed the question, “Hao, have the results been released?”

“Hasn’t the teacher disseminated the results yet?” Ye Hao’s response was marked by confusion.

All senior year parents were part of a group established by No.2 High School. Monthly, teachers shared students’ results within this group.

Hearing this, Guo Xiu promptly retrieved her phone. She located Class 2’s report card in the group without delay.

Guo Xiu’s eyes scanned from the top, reviewing the results. Within a short span, she reached Ye Hao’s score.

When glimpsing Ye Hao’s results, she was taken aback. She blinked and reexamined the numbers, unable to believe what she saw.

722 points.

“Hao, you scored 722 points?” Guo Xiu looked at Ye Hao in disbelief.

Ye Hao nodded.

Happiness came too suddenly. Guo Xiu suddenly didn’t know what to say.

Ye Hao said with a guilty expression, “Mom, actually, my grades weren’t bad before, but I don’t like to be high-profile. But I didn’t expect my willfulness to cause you and my father to feel inferior.”

“Silly child, don’t talk nonsense.” Guo Xiu glared at Ye Hao in dissatisfaction.

“Alright, I won’t say anymore.”

“Hao, in the next two months, you have to work hard and try to get into a key university.” Guo Xiu clenched her fists and said.

“Okay.”

Lee Qianqian resembled a cup of tea – graceful, aromatic, and enchanting.

Conversations with her were nothing short of delightful.

Lee Qianqian’s intellect was extensive; whatever topic Ye Hao broached, she’d readily engage.

With such a girl, conversations were never tiresome, nor were there awkward lulls.

Concurrently, Ye Hao gleaned that Lee Qianqian must be the top student at No.1 High School. No query he posed stumped her; she always had an immediate answer.

Her depth of knowledge had to be the driving force.

After two hours, Lee Qianqian shut her textbook and spoke softly, “Ye Hao, let’s delve into second-year high school physics tomorrow.”

Ye Hao nodded.

“I’m leaving.” Lee Qianqian stood up.

“I’ll send you off.”

“No need.” Lee Qianqian refused.

Ye Hao didn’t press her. He turned and pedaled toward home.

Yet, before Ye Hao could gain much distance, he spotted the disheartened Zhou Shuai.

“Zhou Shuai, didn’t the teacher emphasize that skipping class is disgraceful?”

Zhou Shuai, catching sight of the voice’s owner as Ye Hao, curled his lips and retorted, “Sure, I might skip class, but I’m nowhere near your level. How long’s it been since you last attended evening study?”

“Why are you so listless?”

“From tomorrow onwards, I’m going to eat instant noodles for a month.”

“Your life is quite luxurious.”

“Shut up.”

“Alright, I won’t joke around anymore. What happened?”

Zhou Shuai remained silent for a while before saying, “I skipped class and went to play games. After playing a few rounds, I was defeated by a player. Since I wasn’t convinced, I played three rounds with him in a row. But I lost all of them.”

“What does this have to do with you eating instant noodles for the next month?”

“After he won against me, he started mocking me for wasting my game coins.”

“He’s right.”

“Damn it! Where are you standing?”

“Alright, let’s not talk about this topic for now.”

“I’ve lost three rounds in a row, and he doesn’t want to play with me anymore. He said he’s willing to continue playing with me, but the loser has to pay the winner 100 RMB.”

“This is a gambling competition.”

“Yes.”

“How many rounds did you lose?”

“Ten rounds.”

Ye Hao looked at Zhou Shuai and asked, “Are you an idiot?”

Zhou Shuai also realized his actions were somewhat stupid, but at this moment, he couldn’t admit it.

“I think I was tricked by him.”

“But you took the initiative to play with him.”

“Damn it!”

“Don’t be angry. I will avenge you.” Ye Hao pointed to the back seat of the bicycle and gestured for Zhou Shuai to sit on it.

Ye Hao thought Zhou Shuai would sit on the back seat of the bicycle, but Zhou Shuai looked at him as if he was a fool.

“What do you mean?”

“Our skills are about the same. You can’t beat him.”

“What I showed earlier was not my true level.”

“What?”

“I cared about your pride, so I never used my full strength.”

“Stop bragging.”

“You don’t trust me? Did you end up losing at the Big Players?” Ye Hao pedaled his bicycle and headed toward the Big Players arcade.

Zhou Shuai jogged alongside and perched on the bicycle’s back seat.

Wearing a serious expression, he remarked, “Ye Hao, that guy’s skills are at least professional level. I was completely defeated.”

“I achieved professional level years ago.” Ye Hao chuckled.

In ordinary circumstances, Ye Hao’s gaming skills wouldn’t naturally reach the professional level. However, after leveraging his ability, he could instantly surpass the professional standard.

Ye Hao had frequented the Big Players many times before. Without Zhou Shuai’s guidance, he swiftly reached the gaming console area.

A young man controlled the Big Dragon and effortlessly subdued the Door God in the second-to-last stage. The formidable Door God was helpless against the onslaught.

His maneuvers were astonishingly precise!

Ye Hao quickly surmised that this young man was a pro gamer.

Around the young man, a crowd of spectators had gathered.

Amidst the throng, Ye Hao managed to squeeze in and dropped a game coin into the machine, then firmly pressed the start button.

The young man was just about to vanquish the Door God. Yet, the moment Ye Hao initiated the game by pressing the start button, the screen’s scene transformed and plunged into the match.
