Chapter 551 WORK FOR ME
Chapter 551 WORK FOR ME
Out of anger, July took a blanket from the cupboard and covered that full length mirror, so she didn't need to see herself again. She didn't want to see her reflection in the mirror. She hated looking at herself.
People would even call her Knox's aunt at this point, just the thought of it disgusted her.
She didn't know what to do with this reality that she should face.
July then went to the bathroom and when she saw a mirror there, she couldn't help, but scream, she hated this so much.
She didn't want to be like this.
"Arrggh!" July muffled her scream with her own hands, so she wouldn't draw attention to Rhea and Sebastian, but from tears didn't want to stop no matter what she did.
She felt frustrated.
But then, she heard someone knock on the door.
"July, are you, okay?" Sebastian's voice traveled to her ears, which made her rub her face roughly before she cleared her throat.
"Yes, I am fine, I just bumped my hip against the sink. I am fine."
"Are you hurt?"
"No, I am not. You don't need to worry," July said. She tried to sound as cheerful as she could.
There was silence, as if Sebastian was trying to decide whether she lied to him or not. "I need to go now, I will leave Rhea in our room, she had her breakfast. I left a portion for you, you can reheat it later."
"Yes, thank you, Seb." July felt extremely bad for what Sebastian had to do for her and Rhea.
Sebastian was silent for a moment and then he said goodbye to her. "I will go now, take care."
"Thank you."
Sebastian didn't want to hear her 'thank you', at the very least, she could have come out of the bathroom and given him a hug, to assure him that everything was alright and that they were fine.
Even though it was a lie, Sebastian was willing to take that lie and move on with that, but July didn't even come out and face him. She hid herself and it only enhanced his negative thoughts.
How could he go with the thought that Knox was there, with his little family. That was right. They were a family of three and he was only an outsider.
Sebastian closed his eyes and started the engine, he didn't want to think about it, but his mind wouldn't allow him to do so.
The negative thoughts that floated around his head were so disturbing.
At this moment, Sebastian went to work, while July locked herself inside the bathroom, thus Rhea was alone in her room, not knowing what to do.
Thus, she decided to go see the scary uncle.
There was no one there, except Knox, so she approached his bed. "Uncle, uncle," Rhea called Knox, while shaking his hand lightly. "Wake up, you have slept too much, don't you feel hungry?"
Rhea remembered how Knox made food appear out of thin air and she wanted to see it again.
"Uncle, wake up," Rhea whispered to wake him up, despite the fact there was no way her tiny voice could wake him up. "Wake up, don't you feel hungry? Show me more magic…"
Rhea then shook Knox's body and because it didn't work, she climbed onto the bed and sat on his belly, while staring at his face.
"Uncle, wakey, wakey." She nudged Knox's cheek, but he didn't budge. He was in a deep sleep. "Play with Rhea."
The little girl pouted her lips as she felt ignored and then climbed down from his body, she rushed out of the bedroom to look for her mommy.
"Mommy, mommy." Rhea pounded her small fists against the door of the bathroom, behind which her mother was.
"Yes?"
"Play with me," Rhea whimpered. "No one plays with me, scary uncle is still sleeping."
Hearing that, July immediately opened the door. "Did you go and see him?" Rhea nodded at that question, while July looked terrified, as she picked her up. "Don't go into that room again, okay?"
"Why? I want to see magic."
"Don't go inside without me, okay? Rhea is a good girl, right? So, you should listen to mommy, okay?" July was mortified that something bad would happen.
"Okay…" Rhea said defeatedly. "Scary uncle has the same eyes as me, do you know that?" She liked her blue eyes, thus since the first time she saw Knox's eyes, she loved them.
"Yes, I know. Of course, I know that…" July hugged her little girl.
============================
Emily felt like she was walking on eggshells whenever she was with Ariana, because she knew what she was doing to the alpha.
She was smart enough not to make it obvious, as she used Emma to deliver the tea. She used various ingredients, so no one would be able to tell her true intentions.
It seemed, the soft spoken Ariana would look so scary whenever she was determined to do something.
However, that was not what worried Emily right now, because when she was with Ariana earlier, she was summoned by the alpha to meet him in his study room.
It was not common for her to be summoned by him. The last time Eros was there as well and it didn't end up good. Was Eros there this time also?
It would be great if he was there as well.
However, her hope was crushed when she found out she was alone with alpha Liam in his study.
"Take a seat, Emily," Liam said, nodding at the chair in front of him.
Emily followed his instruction and then sat down. She didn't dare to look him in the eyes and chose to stare at the table instead.
There were many documents there, but she couldn't tell what all of them were about.
"Do you know why I called you here?" Liam asked her, as he leaned his back against his seat.
"No, I don't have any idea." Emily was trying to school her expression, so she wouldn't blatantly look like she was hiding something.
"Hm…" Liam mumbled, nodding his head. "I want to know how far you have learned from Ariana?"
"I have learned a lot from her."
"I heard you are a quick learner."
"I don't have anything to do, thus I can only learn."
Liam scoffed. "Are you trying to be humble?"
"I am not, Alpha, I am just telling you the truth. I just follow Ariana's instructions, that's all. She is good at what she is doing and knows how to teach me."
Liam nodded. "Have you mastered how to make that potion?"
"What potion?"
"The potion to kill one's beast."
The portion would make a shifter lose their beast, even though they would live. But without their beast, they would be nothing more than normal human beings.
That was what the organization was working on. If they couldn't kill them all, they could make those supernatural creatures the same as them.
"I… I can." Emily was trying to guess in which direction this conversation would go, but it was hard to tell when Liam's expression was hard to read.
"Can you make it without help from Ariana?"
"What? What do you mean?" Emily raised her head and then looked at Liam closely.
"That's what I mean." Liam stood up and then rounded the table to stand behind Emily, which made her straighten her back as she felt a chill run down her spine. She bit her lip. "Can you make the potion without Ariana's help? Don't lie to me, Emily, I know when people lie to me."
Liam put his hand on her shoulder and squeezed it lightly, as if giving a warning to her.
"Yes… I can…"
"What else can you not do without her help?"
Emily swallowed hard, she took a deep breath. "There are a lot of things that I have not yet learned from her."
"For example?"
Emily wetted her lips. Truthfully speaking, at this moment, she was as good as Ariana and there was nothing that Ariana could do that she couldn't.
However, she had a bad feeling about this.
"I am waiting for your answer, Emily," Liam said in a low voice.
"There is this medicine to relieve the pain… to make you unable to feel the pain."
Liam chuckled. "That's impossible. You have learned that ages ago. If not, Ariana wouldn't have given you the responsibility to take care of my dear father, right?"
Emily couldn't think straight now, she could feel the dominance that emanated from his body. "There are a lot of things that I need to learn."
"And yet, you can't give me an example." Liam then walked away from her and retrieved something from one of his bookshelves. "Read this."
Emily took the document from Liam's hand and then opened it. Her heart skipped a beat when she read it.
"You must recognize that, right? I can see it on your face." Liam sat down on the table in front of Emily and stared down at her. "Now, I have an offer for you, will you take it?"
Emily was trembling when she saw the names on the paper in her hand. These are the names of all those who had sworn allegiance to the rebellion against Liam, their alpha.
And the top name on that list was Colton.
"I can't believe my passive gamma is trying to do this behind my back." Liam clicked his tongue. "Did he really think that I would not know about this?"
This was one of the reasons why he sent those warriors away to the east draghar.
