Unsealing Emptiness

Chapter 30

Genius?

At around noon, Ozul was on a branch of the tree, resting his back against it. The real leg was bent a little, and the other hung down the branch. There was a black pointed hat on top; It seemed as if he was sleeping.

Down the tree, Raven was fighting a Rank-2 Beast. She was testing the Spell that she created earlier. If you were to look closely, you would find that she seemed completely fine except for her disheveled clothes.

But the Rank-2 Beast, on the other hand, had many small wounds on his body. It delighted Raven when she had the upper hand against a Rank-2 Beast while she was only a Rank-1 Mage and a Fighter.

This could be credited to the fact that she was a Mage and a Fighter at the same time. But it was mostly because of the advantages provided by her Original Spell.

There aren’t many Mages who create a Spell that makes physical weapons for them to wield. Some people will even laugh at such Mages saying if they want to fight more physically, why not be a Fighter?

But what if you were a Fighter and a Mage at the same time? It significantly raised Raven’s fighting prowess.

And since it is an Original Spell, Raven can evolve it and upgrade it however she wants.

Actually, this was a third Rank-2 Beast that she had fought consecutively! Eventually, Raven defeated her opponent. Ozul woke up at that moment and noticed the now-dead Rank-2.

.....

“Catch your breath. Let’s see what you’ll do against a Rank-3,” Ozul said without moving from his position.

Sometime later, Ozul found a Rank-3 Beast and let Raven fight with it. The result was, of course, Raven’s total defeat.

She can steal Mana and stamina from her opponents, but it won’t matter when you can’t injure them in the first place. Furthermore, the Beast had magical spells. Raven was in bad shape at the end of the battle.

And that’s where the pills and potions obtained from the Count came into use. She just had to gulp down the Elixir, and her injuries healed at a visible rate.

“Woah! This potion is so miraculous!”- Raven exclaimed in surprise. She thought that the purple might take a little to heal her, but the effects were visible to the eyes.

Ozul noticed the purple vial as the same medicine that those Humans created from his ‘parts.’ He gave Raven the ‘stern eye’ as to show his seriousness, and said;

“Don’t ever, and I mean never talk about that Elixir in front of me again... And if you have to use it, don’t do it where I can see it,” Ozul just felt weird inside when he sees someone consume that potion.

It contains his essence, and when someone takes it inside of them, he just feels disturbed.

Ozul would also not prohibit Raven to use it because it will only be a waste. And it’s not like he can stop everyone on the Planet to do so either. Again, Ozul was not an idiot, he knew his priorities.

They returned just when the Sun was setting.

“As you can see, you need to improve your Rank. No matter how reliable your Spell is, nothing survives in the presence of absolute power,” Ozul explained when they entered the house.

Raven nodded her head as she knew it was true. Her Spell gave her many advantages, but if her Rank improved, those benefits would only increase.

Ozul could do nothing but wait for her to grow. For himself, Ozul had also thought of a few things. Such as, he could get a better grasp on Ball of Purity.

He could control it just as he was able to control his limbs, but even professional martial artist does not have perfect control over their body.

Ozul also wanted to try to further the radius under which he can proficiently use Ball of Purity. The three-meter range is big, but the more it increased, the better.

The Sun had already set. So, Ozul went to sleep, but Raven could not rest with all the excitement. She was only a Rank-1 and had defeated several Rank-2 Beasts. That puts her into the category of geniuses!

. . .

The next morning, Ozul and Raven again received an invitation from Count Oliver. It seemed as though this time, the Count had a real business for Ozul.

Ozul was ultimately bored; he did not hesitate to accept the invitation.

They arrived at Count’s Manor and went inside his office. Sitting on the couch, Ozul did not bother for any pleasantries and went straight to business.

“It better be worth it,” Ozul did not like being tested like before.

“Don’t worry. The task, this time is... a little complicated,” Count Oliver explained as he continued;

“It is from above. I have little to no information. Of course, you can reject the task. But I assure you that you will be properly compensated if you accept the job,” Count Oliver offered.

The task was assigned to him by higher-ups from his Faction. Naturally, he had the choice to refuse such a risky job. But to consolidate his standing in the Faction, he accepted the offer.

“What are the risks, and what do I have to do specifically?” Ozul wanted to know the risks before he decides on what to do.

“You will have to bring a package from someone back to me. The package contains information. So, there may be some risks involved. Also, you may even have to face Rank-5 Mages...”- The last part was what worried Count Oliver.

Count Oliver knew that Ozul had killed the Viscount who was a Rank-5 Mage, but this time he might have to fight multiple Rank-5 Mages.

Ozul though was indifferent, after eating the Viscount’s Core. His advancement might have stagnated, but at this moment, Ozul had the confidence to fight and win against multiple Rank-5 Mages.

He did not hesitate before accepting the mission. Even Count Oliver was surprised to see Ozul’s confidence.

Count Oliver himself could also take multiple Rank-5 Mages as he was a Rank-6, but he did not know anything about Ozul’s Rank.

He had tried to find more about Ozul, but all the searches led to dead ends! The boy in front of him had appeared seemingly out of nowhere!

But Count Oliver could only entrust Ozul with the task. If it were not urgent, he would’ve never trusted someone he knew so little about.

Ozul and Raven picked up the file containing the detailed information and left the Count’s estate.

When they left the room, the butler behind Count Oliver spoke;

“Can we really trust him, My Lord?” The butler spoke in a modest tone.

“We have no choice, Albert,” Count Oliver sighed as he shook his head to forget the negative thoughts.
