Chapter 53 53. SUPERIORITY
Running casually beside the speeding carriage, Noah glanced backwards, and swept his gaze around.
Seeing that the others were barely able to keep up, he decided to slow down a bit, just a bit.
He didn't want to appear too fast, but also wanted to show that in terms of sheer speed, and stamina he was currently a god.
Apparently the ostriches were fast runners, like he expected, but this was different.
The creatures were running at speeds the normal human couldn't dream of achieving, even tier 2's in the middle-stage could barely keep up. It seemed mother nature still kept things balanced.
Glancing at the figure of Luke, who sat on top of the carriage, Noah couldn't help but click his tongue, he wasn't that his current activity was uncomfortable, it was that he himself would like to be up there.
Feeling the gaze, Luke turned back to see that amongst the nine runners, Noah was the closest to the carriage, "How are you even this fast?," Luke asked with a fascinated expression.
Shrugging his shoulders while running, "Plenty of workout," Noah said with a light smile.
Luke burst into a short laugh, as Noah couldn't help but wonder how that was even possible.
The carriage was moving really fast, and the conflict between his stationed body, and the carriage moving forward, should push him off the carriages top.
But it seemed he probably had some sort of barrier that allowed those gestures possible.
"We both know that, isn't a good reason, but I'll not push it. In the mean time try to catch up," Immediately Luke said those words, it seemed as though the ostriches heard him, and they immediately increased their already incredible speed.
The sight of the ostriches obeying orders, without anyone holding their reins, really made Noah curious, but he could only give a light smile, as the carriage began to move further away from his running figure.
Once again, Noah swept his gaze around his current teammates, he saw that everyone of them had a frown on their face, and seemed to be struggling, though not long after, Jonas shot past Noah, his figure blazing with flames, as he immediately caught up with the carriage.
Noah raised an eyebrow as he had read about such technique's, which were basically called "movement techniques or spells".
When executed they allowed the executer, achieve acceleration that they normally shouldn't be able to achieve, at the cost of Mana and stamina.
If the executers' body couldn't keep up with the acceleration, their body would either break down into a physical mess or die from the strain. But it seemed Jonas had learnt one.
But the others proved him wrong, one after the other, they caught up with the carriage leaving small craters where they had previously been.
Either their legs would light up with a colour, or a magic circle would appear beneath them as they shot forward.
A few seconds later, only James and Noah were left, which the former changed, when he performed some weird foot movements, and then he took a huge step forward, leaving a trail of water behind, as Noah was now the last.
A wide grin cracked on Noah's face, as faint sparks could be seen around him, his already slow moving environment slowed down even more, as Noah activated the 'speed forces's' effects to its barest minimum. Then he took a light step forward, just a light step.
Flashing hundreds of meters in front of the carriage, Noah's eye were wide open, he had moved too fast.
Glancing backwards, Noah could see that every person he could see, had an incredulos expression, as they had neither sensed, nor seen Noah when he ran past them.
Deciding to maintain that speed, Noah looked forward to the road In front of him, leaving an even more surprised audience, wondering how he could maintain that speed, as they even began to respect the young man.
They ran like this for many hours, as eventually they had to stop, though by this time, it was already night fall.
Throughout the journey, the carriage, and the mini experts had never been able to catch up to Noah, who would only glance backwards once in a few hours.
The group had only covered an incredibly miniscule distance in the map, as even with Noah's top speed it would take him a while.
Setting up camp a few hundred meters from the road, the group had to make a clearing, to do this. After about an hour or so they were all done, as then did they see Augustus.
"Good job today," Augustus said as he swept his gaze on the sitting figures of the mini experts, though it landed on Noah's sitting figure, and spent a bit if time on it before moving.
"You all should eat, and get some rest for tommorow," He added while he stretched his right hand forward, and two bags appeared on the ground. Immediately he did that, he went inside the parked carriage a few tens of meters away from the camp fire.
With Augustus gone, Luke also left, but instead of entering the carriage, he sat on top of it, guarding his young master.
Now that the two bosses were gone, the area fell silent.
Apart from the crackling of the camp fire, no one uttered a word or sound for over a minute.
That changed when, Bern stood up, picked the bags, opened them and began to divide the food stuff inside them, since no one complained.
The bags were filled with bread and dried meat, which they boiled, using conjured water and the camp fire.
"You were awesome today", James said as he walked over to Noah's sitting position, and sat beside him.
A smile broke out in Noah's face, "You all were. Honestly I had not expected those movements techniques," Noah said, as he took a huge bite from the already cooked meat.
Chewing with an eyebrow raised, Noah couldn't help but stare at the chunk of meat in his grasp. Immediately he swallowed some of the chewed bits, he felt energy rush into his body, as the meat seemed to be special.
"This meat belongs to a magical beast. When cooked, they can help in providing energy to a person," James explained, while taking a bite from the meat in his hand. While also closing his eyes to savour it's taste, and the feeling of energy rushing through his body.
They ate alone for multiple minutes, as Noah found that apart from the first bite, the nigh euphoric feeling of energy rushing through his veins, didn't occur again.
He had thought that was normal, but James had never stopped closing his eyes, after every bite.
Soon the meal got boring, as it only took a few minutes for Noah to finish it.
Sweeping his gaze around the camp fire, Noah found that the others were also done, but weren't talking to each other.
Though each time his eye met someone's, their expression would flicker, as it turned to that of both respect and fascination. Even Jonas who seemed to not care about anything.
Eventually someone walked up to them.
"Hi, I'm Matthew," the man said. Matthew looked to be in his middle ages. He had brown hair which was really short. He was around 5ft6 in height which made him shorter than Noah.
His round face and bushy eyebrows gave him a funny and cunning look.
"I know. Do you need anything?", Noah replied with a bored expression.
Ignoring his expression.
Matthew continued, "I saw your movement technique today, and it was impressive, coupled with your monstrous stamina it really got me thinking, how about we explain each other's....", Mathew said, but before he could continue, Noah stood up.
Glancing at the middle aged man with cold eyes, Noah's voice rang out, "If you have nothing to say, please leave", He said, as his voice spread out in the environment, alerting the others of the incident.
Though before Noah could do, or say anything more, the remaining six who were currently sitting, shot up from there positions.
